Abstract [en]
Background: The general nurse meets children in various situation in nursing care. Children often associate care with fear and insecurity. By listening to children's experiences in meeting with health care professionals, the nurse gets important knowledge to apply in the care to create a good meeting with the kids and give them security.
Aim: The aim of the study was to illustrate children´s experiences of the meeting with health care professionals.
Method: The method used was a literature study, based on qualitative research.
Results: Five themes emerged in connection to children's experiences of meeting with health care professionals. These five themes were named as participation, communication, attitude, skills and appearance.
Conclusion: Children want to be informed and be involved in decisions regarding their care. They want to be treated by smiling medical professionals with high skills and a professional appearance.
