Abstract [en]

This bachelor’s thesis was conducted at University West in spring 2025 in collaboration with EWAB Engineering AB.

aim of the project was to analyze and improve the company’s internal risk assessment process in accordance with current EU regulations and ISO standards. The company’s risk assessments were at the time performed in a computer program named IBM Notes. The software was facing issues, and a decision was made by EWAB to replace it. CEDOC was selected as a preferable successor.

Methodology for this thesis work is a combination of literature review, interviews with key personnel, and analysis of company documents and processes. Observations were made of the existing workflow and software usage. A practical comparison between IBM Notes and CEDOC was carried out using a case study from a recently completed automation project.

As a result, weaknesses in the existing workflow, including late-stage risk assessment, lack of standardized structure, and unclear responsibilities were found. CEDOC was evaluated and compared with IBM Notes, where the former proved to be more suitable for EWAB. The software was more suited due to a more structured and guided process, improving both traceability and documentation quality. CEDOC also eased archiving and risks related to specific projects.

As the company only had one active project approaching its final stage during the study, the results were based on previous projects analysis rather than live implementation. This makes it harder to draw general conclusions, but the results still gave useful insight into how the company works with risk management.

The study concludes that CEDOC aids and streamlines the process of risk assessment at EWAB and improves regulatory compliance. However, successful implementation of the software will also require internal education, clearer routines, and broader application in future projects.
