Amount of knowledge conveyed to students in IT programs at University West about digital accessibility for users with Accessibility needs (English)
Abstract [en]

This study examines the amount of knowledge conveyed to students in IT programs at University West about digital accessibility for users with accessibility needs. Through qualitative interviews and reviews, data was collected to map the needs, limitations and conditions for conveyed knowledge about digital accessibility from faculty to students. In the implementation of the study, challenges and dropouts of interviews limited the results for the research question, which resulted in other methods being applied.

The results showed challenges and limitations in conveying knowledge about accessibility, even though teachers and students believe that increased requirements for graded tasks benefit both their knowledge in the subject. The study, together with related work, shows the need to include requirements in the educational plan about accessibility, to promote digital competence among teachers and students. Future research should include a larger selection and examine the difference in conveyed knowledge in programs where educational plans differ in terms of requirements of adapting projects for accessibility in graded tasks.
