Abstract [en]
This thesis has been carried out as a project at INEOS Inovyn Sverige AB in Stenungsund, the purpose of the work is to investigate the development of new pipe classes according to the European directive PED (Pressure Equipment Directive). This is to simplify future construction projects and reduce costs linked to pipe systems, by uniformly using EN or ASME standardized components. Currently, Inovyn uses a mixture of ASME and EN standards.
The work began with a deep dive into standards to gain knowledge in the subject and literature studies. To then begin the most central part of the work, i.e. calculations that were made in consultation with Inovyn to calculate relevant dimensions that together form a new updated pipe class.
After the calculations were completed, a market survey was started, using historical purchasing data from Inovyn and current prices for pipes and pipe fittings from the retailer Scandinavian Flanges and Fittings, SFF. In order to be able to compare the different alternatives that Inovyn has to choose from, when taking into account price, delivery times and availability.
The result shows that it is advantageous to completely switch to Type A or ASME while Type B is excluded due to price and availability. The choice between Type A and ASME is left to Inovyn themselves so that they can make decisions based on reality according to their possibilities and needs. The advantages and disadvantages that exist are presented for them to take into account when making this decision
