The relationship between health-promoting leadership and collegial trust : A quantitative study on the covariation of these phenomena (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Background: Health-promoting leadership and interpersonal trust are frequently emphasized as key components in working life, especially in relation to employees’ experiences of support, psychological safety, and collaboration. These factors can be understood as important resources for managing work-related demands and for contributing to a sustainable work environment.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate whether there is a relationship between health-promoting leadership and interpersonal trust.

Method & material: A quantitative approach was used to collect and analyze data, based on271 survey responses. The survey included validated instruments: the Health-Promoting Leadership Conditions (HPLC) and the Workplace Trust Survey (WTS). Correlation andmultiple regression analyses were conducted to explore the relationship between the variables, while controlling for age and employment status.

Result: The results indicate a strong positive correlation between health-promoting leadership and collegial trust. This association remained statistically significant after accounting for relevant control variables. These results highlight the role of supportive leadership behaviors in promoting employee well-being and cultivating trust-based collaboration in workgroups.
