Abstract [en]

Sustainable investing has come a long way in the past decades, especially in the last decade. The increased consciousness regarding sustainability in society has given sustainability measures such as ESG (Environmental, social and governance) a rise in importance. Even though the increased awareness of sustainability and equality, there is still a lack of females in leading corporate positions such as CEO. This paper analyses whether ESG have a positive effect on ROE, female CEOs has a greater positive effect on ROE then a male CEO and if ESG do affect ROE more when a female is the CEO as compared with a male equivalent. This analysis is done on the companies included in the OMX 30 (Stockholm stock exchange) over the years 2015-2023 and three panel regression models was used to analyze these statements. After analyzing the results, the findings suggests that ESG has a positive effect on ROE and female CEO´s has both a positive effect on ROE and increases the impact of ESG on ROE compared with a male equivalent.
