Mob programming : Knowledge sharing and Productivity: An Analysis of Mob Programming in software development (English)
Abstract [en]

This thesis investigates mob programming and its impact on knowledge spread and productivity in software development. Through semi-structured interviews with developers and managers from various companies, the study analyses how the method affects knowledge sharing, productivity, and social dynamics. The results show that mob programming promotes knowledge sharing and creates collective code ownership, reducing the risk of knowledge silos. The method is also perceived to enhance productivity through improved communication and collaboration, although some individuals prefer to work independently. Social capital and team dynamics are strengthened, however challenges such as conflict management and individual preferences are highlighted. The study recommends further research with a broader selection of teams and organizations to obtain a more nuanced understanding of the effects of mob programming.
