Arbetsengagemang och distansarbete: en kvantitativ studie om arbetsform och engagemang

I takt med att digitala resurser utvecklas och pandemin har förändrat arbetslivets villkor, står många organisationer inför valet mellan distansarbete och platsbundet arbete. Arbetsengagemang, som beskriver hur motiverad och involverad en person är i sitt arbete, har kopplats till både prestation och välmående. Denna kvantitativa tvärsnittsstudie undersökte sambandet mellan arbetsengagemang och distansarbete genom en statistisk jämförelse mellan anställda inom IT-branschen (distansarbete) och skolan (platsbundet arbete).
Totalt deltog 152 personer i en enkätundersökning där arbetsengagemang mättes med kortversionen av Utrechtskalan (UWES-9) och distansarbete med en frekvensbaserad skattningsskala. Ett signifikant, svagt positivt samband identifierades mellan distansarbete och arbetsengagemang för det totala urvalet i korrelationsanalysen, men detta kvarstod inte när det kontrollerades för ålder och tid inom yrke i den multipla regressionsanalysen. De oberoende t-testerna visade ingen signifikant skillnad i arbetsengagemang mellan IT-branschen och skolan, trots signifikanta skillnader i hur mycket grupperna distansarbetar. Resultatet indikerar att andra faktorer än arbetsform kan ha större betydelse för arbetsengagemang.
Abstract [en]
As digital resources continue to evolve and the pandemic has reshaped working conditions, many organizations face the choice between remote and on-site work. Work engagement, which reflects how motivated and involved an individual is in their work, has been linked to both performance and well-being. This quantitative cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between work engagement and remote work through a statistical comparison between employees in the IT sector (remote work) and the education sector (on-site work).
A total of 152 individuals participated in a survey where work engagement was measured using the short version of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9), and remote work frequency was assessed with a frequency-based rating scale. A weak positive correlation between remote work and work engagement was identified for the total sample in the correlation analysis, but this association did not remain when controlling for age and years in the profession in the multiple regression analysis. The independent t-tests showed no significant difference in work engagement between the IT- and education sector despite significant differences in levels of remote work. The results suggest that factors other than work arrangement may play a more substantial role in influencing work engagement.
