I denna studie undersöks projektarbete inom svenska startup-företag med fokus på deras specifika behov av projektmetoder och verktyg. Genom en kombination av litteraturstudie och intervjuer med fyra startup-företag identifierades gemensamma mönster och utmaningar. Företagen verkar i en dynamisk miljö präglad av hög osäkerhet, vilket ställer krav på flexibilitet och anpassningsförmåga. Det framkom att mindre startup-företag i högre utsträckning saknar formaliserade projektprocesser men tillämpar agila arbetsmetoder, såsom iterativa cykler och stand-up möten. Större startup-företag har istället mer strukturerade processer och använder ett bredare spektrum av projektverktyg. 

Studien visar att behovet av formella projektmetoder och verktyg ökar med företagets storlek och komplexitet. Effektiv projektledning i startup-företag kräver en balans mellan flexibilitet och struktur, samt anpassade metoder beroende på företagets utvecklingsfas. Kommunikation och samarbete inom teamen är avgörande för framgång i den dynamiska miljön, och behovet av tvärfunktionella team är tydligt. Slutsatserna understryker vikten av att anpassa projektmetoder efter startup-företagets specifika förutsättningar för att möta sina unika utmaningar och behov

This study investigates project work within Swedish startup companies, focusing on their specific needs for project methods and tools. Through a combination of literature review and interviews with four startup companies, common patterns and challenges were identified. The companies operate in a dynamic environment characterized by high uncertainty, which demands flexibility and adaptability. It was found that smaller startup companies tend to lack formalized project processes to a greater extent but apply agile work methods, such as iterative cycles and stand-up meetings. Larger startup companies have instead more structured processes and use a wider range of project tools. 

The study shows that the need for formal project methods and tools increases with the size and complexity of the company. Effective project management in startup companies requires a balance between flexibility and structure, as well as tailored methods depending on the company's development stage. Communication and collaboration within teams are crucial for success in the dynamic environment, and the need for cross-functional teams is evident. The conclusions highlight the importance of adapting project methods to the specific conditions of startup companies to meet their unique challenges and needs.
