Abstract [en]

This research investigates the impact of varying stress levels and types on adolescents' interest in virtual forest applications and their perceptions of traditional stress reduction methods.

The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The findings reveal that while most participants were not experiencing high-stress levels, they faced diverse forms of stress, including academic, family, and work-related challenges.

The quantitative analysis found no significant association between gender and interest in virtual forest applications. The qualitative data provides valuable insights, indicating that the realistic and engaging virtual forest application was perceived as helpful in managing stress. Participants recognized the application's potential as a stress-reduction tool and expressed openness to innovative digital solutions for mental health.

The study highlights the need for further research, including longitudinal studies, to understand better the sustained effects of virtual reality interventions on adolescent stress reduction.

This research contributes to the growing body of evidence on the promising use of virtual reality for anxiety and stress management, with important implications for the development and implementation of mental health support services for adolescents.
