Digitalization has become a global phenomenon, affecting all sectors. Within the healthcare sector, it has emerged as a tool for dealing with complex healthcare challenges, including pandemics, disease outbreaks, the discovery of new ailments, evolving treatment options, and the increasing demand for healthcare services.
This thesis explores the leadership competencies, approaches, and organizational strategies that drive digitalization and digital learning within healthcare organizations, utilizing the perspectives of complexity leadership theory, diffusion of innovation theory, and technology acceptance theories.
The study focuses on an ongoing digital project Trollhattan City’s healthcare organization “Project Home Healthcare Online”.
Qualitative research methods and thematic analysis are used for data analysis. Ethical considerations, reliability, validity, and generalizability are considered throughout the research process.
The findings highlight the importance of establishing a digitalization strategy, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and adopting adaptive leadership approaches that encourage collaboration. These factors are identified as key drivers of digital innovation and learning within healthcare organizations. This study provides valuable insights for healthcare leaders and organizations seeking to leverage digitalization to enhance healthcare delivery.
