The aim of this thesis is to analyse whether the positions of the Swedish Democrats (SD) and the Centre Party (C) on the GAL-TAN scale present a different outcome when using one premise-policy (immigration), and one focus-policy (the elderly care). The study is based on qualitative strategy, using the qualitative content method to analyse the collected data from the Swedish Parliament. The objective is to empirically describe the representation of the problem to position the parties on the GAL-TAN scale. With the WPR approach we identify the representation and the cause of the problem with elderly care from the parties’ views presented between the timeline of 2018-2021. GAL values identify the representation of the problem to be: lack of freedom, resources, insecure employment, and education opportunities. While TAN values identify: lack of knowledge for culture and traditions, communication issues, and poor quality within the elderly care, which in turn creates insecure and unsafe working environments. The results of the analysis concluded that, based on their views on the elderly care policy, SD is placed closer to both GAL- and TAN values, while the Centre Party’ positions more on the GAL side of the scale.
