    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this paper is to find out how Deep Fake, a new face swapping technique for moving imagery, might impact the future film industry as well as the problems it may pose not only ethically and morally, but also sociopolitically. This was investigated by comparing data from Swedish news articles with the results of interviews with filmmakers experienced in the use of Deep Fake technology.

    The result of the study shows that Deep Fake might pose a threat in the near future regarding misuse of the technology resulting in the spread of misinformation and fraud.This seems to occur due to a common lack of knowledge regarding evaluation of information as well as the lack of a reliable method for detecting these kinds of videos.However, the investigation also showed that research is already being conducted to procure methods to detect Deep Fake fabrications.

    Concerning industrial development, the results show that the technique in some cases already performs better than its predecessors. Deep Fake can evidently produce better results in a shorter amount of time, for a fraction of the price compared to its counterparts. However, the results also show that this case only can be made for certain productions with the current state of the technique, although the technique is expected to keep developing at speed.

    Abstract [en]

    This essay is based on a qualitative study and is about young Swedish men's relationship to female Youtube creators. The purpose is to gain an understanding of what these relationships look like and what makes a young man consume content created by a female creator on the social media platform Youtube. To carry out the study, three group interviews were created where a total of nine male informants aged 18 - 30 were interviewed and asked questions about their use of Youtube and their relationships with the female creators. By starting from an inductive approach and a thematic analysis, the informants' answers were linked to different themes and theories in parasocial relationships, trust, design and gender. 

    The study showed that age is a contributing factor to what the relationship looks like where, among other things, attraction to the creator was defined in different ways based on social life and personal values. The study also shows tendencies towards a parasocial relationship between audience and creator, but it was not possible to confirm that any of the informants had a parasocial relationship with the Youtube creators. It can also be seen that trust in a relationship was considered fundamental for a relationship to arise, but that it could also be negatively affected if the marketing did not go in line with the channel's theme. The results also indicate that it is not the content of female creators that should be adjusted to include more men, it is instead men's relationship with men that is the problem.

    Abstract [en]

    This study highlights the development that has been made in the production of moving images of feature films and what significance they have for the medium’s potential to convey realistic scenarios. The study investigates the existing cinematic methods analogue and digital and are compared to a selection of feature films to assess the viewer’s perceptive abilities. This is measured in the viewer’s tendency to distinguish the film’s constituents. Based on this comparison, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the responses from two groups consisting of respondents with low and high knowledge of film technique. This is done to create an understanding of how the methods of producing images differentiates in their way of convincing the viewer, as well as involving the significance of the roll that various levels of perceptive abilities play. The study describes the methods in film technique that are evaluated as well as the terminology of the constituents that are presented to the respondents. The theories studied are verified by the two groups of respondents that differ in their opinions and knowledge, where they are certain in their answers. What can be noticed is that perception is influenced to a greater degree by personal connotations than technical competence.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this thesis is to determine the representation and application of gender and ethnicity in two video-games released in the last ten years. One of them released 2014 and the other 2017. This was done by a qualitative analysis of both games and by comparing how representation of gender and ethnicity is handled in each one. The analysis sought to determine if and how the characters’ gender and ethnicity affected the way they interacted with each other. The theories and research that was used as basis for the study showed that video-games historically had an unequal amount of gender and ethnicity among characters and that it in a high degree affected how a character was portrayed. The games analysed in this study both showed more equal treatment of both male and female characters than the norm. The gender of the character had very little to do with how they were portrayed although it did matter somewhat more in the older game than the new one. In neither of the games was ethnicity observed as a factor in how a character was portrayed or treated. The newer game was somewhat more inclusive when it came to ethnicity as it was with gender.  In general it is clear that the newer game is more progressive than the older one which hints about the development of the gaming industry.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: VR technology has experienced a boost in popularity especially during the covid19-pandemic, where the question about its potential and areas of use arises. One specific and interesting area with its uses is for the betterment of human mental health, where the technology is applied together with exposure therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders, different phobias, and other mental problems. Despite its proven effectiveness VR is still an underutilized tool. More research is needed, as well as a general understanding of what the technology can accomplish for mental health. Hence, this study aims to review VR and its capabilities.

    Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to create a better understanding of VR technology, as well as its potential for usage in exposure therapy.

    Method: A qualitative and systematic review paper based on nine peer-reviewed articles (i.e., literature reviews). It was performed with a deductive approach and analyzed in accordance with meta-synthesis.

    Conclusion: The result shows that VR has an incredible potential for different kinds of mental problems, like anxiety disorders, phobias, and PTSD. It is revealed though that several obstacles are blocking the technology’s development and integration within the therapeutic area. Therefore, further research is recommended.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this paper is to study how changing a movies playback speed affects the movie experience. The study draws on an experiment in which the participants were split into two groups; one group saw a speed up footage and the remaining (controlgroup) saw the scene in normal speed. The aim of the study is to investigate if there are differences between how the participants judge the movie and how they pick up information, according to different theories regarding different cognitive effects. According to Lee at al (2017), factors such as psychological time, immersion, verisimilitude, attributs, image quality and sound quality affect how a viewer judges a film experience, and according to Honda et al (2015), a viewer's immersion and verisimilitude is negatively affected by a higher playback speed. Our result shows, however, that half of our participants had no problem viewing movies at a higher playback speed. We therefore suggest that the movie experience is not negatively affected by higher playback speed. Our findings also show that the greatest culprit to the movie experience in a higher playback speed are the sound and image quality. If these issues can be be resolved, higher playback speed might be a useful function in the future.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper studies factors that affect trust in semi and fully autonomous cars, the connection between trust and the design of the information system, and if it is possible to increase the degree of trust in the cars by using a conversational user interface.  The study was carried out by conducting interviews with five UX and interaction design professionals in the automotive industry. By doing so, we obtained an understanding of how working professionals view the connection between trust and design. The results indicate that news and media can affect users’ trust in autonomous cars. There are several components that play into the trust in autonomous cars, but feedback and situational awareness were two distinguishing factors. Drivers need to have an appropriate degree of trust when using the autonomous system. You have to display only what is relevant for the driver to know in the specific situation and what actions are required from the driver. The car’s decisions should also be presented in a way that conforms to the human thought process. Furthermore, the results show that you can increase the degree of trust with the vocal attributes of the voice of a conversational user interface; adding human attributes to the voice can help create a more human-like relationship to the system.

    I ett ständigt förändrat medielandskap förändras även människans syn på relationer, hur de skapas och upprätthålls. Generationen millennials utgör en betydande del av befolkningen och har en starkt inflytande på sociala nätverk som Instagram. Influencers är betydelsefulla innehållsskapare på sociala medier eftersom de når ut till en stor följarskara. Som följare får man en intim inblick i influencers liv då de skapar engagerande och inspirerande innehåll. Genom ständiga uppdateringar bygger de autentiska och ensidiga relationer med sina följare, så kallade parasociala relationer och är något som kan påverka följarens upplevelse om influencers som trovärdiga. Studien syftar därmed att bidra med fördjupad kunskap om millennialkvinnors upplevelser och attityder gentemot relationen samt den upplevda trovärdigheten till influencers på plattformen Instagram. Denna studie utförs via en kvalitativ metodansats och utgår från semistrukturerade intervjuer med åtta kvinnor som ingår i generationen millennials, vilket innefattar födelseår mellan 1981–1996. Studiens resultat visar på att respondenterna inte upplever en stark parasocial relation till influencers och de anser även inte ha ett starkt förtroende till influencers på Instagram pågrund av idealisering och kommersiella intressen. Studiens respondenter uppger att de upplever en motståndskraftighet till influencers då de upplever en brist på en ömsesidighet i relationen. Resultatet visar att influencers vars moraliska värderingar är i linje med millennialkvinnan har störst möjlighet att utveckla en långvarig parasocial relation. Att influencers är yrkesutövare och samarbetar med företag uppges vara anledningar för millennialkvinnorna att förhålla sig kritiska till deras budskap, de menaratt de i högre grad förlitar sig på egen efterforskning och sitt eget nätverk. Besitter influencern någon slags expertis eller är transparanta i deras aktiviteter kan det vara något som gynnar influencers trovärdighet på plattformen.

    Sociala medier är en stor del av många personers liv, där det inte sällan skapas parasociala relationer mellan anhängare och influencers. Det är på så sätt viktigt att bredda kunskapen inom ämnet för att förstå hur parasociala relationer kan påverka oss, och varför vi stannar i parasociala relationer trots negativa incidenter som pågår. Denna studie fokuserar på vad som potentiellt lederen anhängare till att avsluta en parasocial relation. Ämnet är aktuellt eftersom parasociala relationer påverkar många användare i ett socialt samspel. Syftet är att undersöka vad som gör atten anhängare avslutar en parasocial relation på sociala medier, och därmed få en djupareförståelse för parasociala relationer online. Metoden innefattar en kvalitativ studie med sju semistrukturerade personliga intervjuer. Analysen genomfördes med hjälp av en tematisk analys. I studien tittar jag på vad som händer då en anhängare upplever en negativ incident relaterat tillen influencer, och hur detta påverkar den parasociala relationen som anhängaren upplever. Tre avsju informanter i studien valde att stanna i den parasociala relationen trots incidenten, medan fem avföljde. Studien visar att de anhängare som har starkare och djupare etablerade parasociala relationer med influencern har svårare att avsluta relationen. Tre slutsatser drogs om resultatet. Dessa var; 1. De informanter som upplevde att relationen med influencern var värdefull var också mer benägna att rättfärdiga influencerns dåliga beteende, då de upplevde att de skulle förlora på att avsluta relationen. 2. De informanter som hade en djupare etablerad relation, till högre grad fortsatte den parasociala relationen. Därmed avslutade informanterna många gånger relationen då den inte var tillräckligt etablerad. 3. Incidentens allvarlighet och negativa påverkan på anhängaren var en övervägande anledning till att de valde att avfölja, som vägde tyngre än styrkan av den parasociala relationen.

    Denna uppsats bygger på en kvalitativ intervjustudie som undersöker hur svenska gymnasiekillar beskriver sig själva som individer och som innehållsskapare i sociala medier i förhållande till influencers, ideal samt deras egna förväntningar. Syftet är delvis att skapa förståelse för vilken mening samt inverkan som influencers och deras innehåll har på killarnas välmående och självmedkänsla. Detta för att på så sätt kunna få förståelse för killarnas syn på sig själva som individer och som innehållsskapare i sociala medier. Killar från tre olika gymnasieskolor intervjuades, där åtta informanters berättelser valdes att fokusera på i studien. Informanterna fick svara på frågor kring deras relationer till influencers, deras tankar och känslor vid jämförelser med dessa profiler samt vilka eventuella förväntningar killarna har på sig själva i sociala medier. Deltagarnas svar är således det som ligger till grund för uppsatsens resultat.Studien visar att gymnasiekillar besitter parasociala relationer till influencers av olika anledningar. Dessutom är liknande intressen med influencers och möjligheten att kunna ta del av deras personliga innehåll samt interaktioner viktiga faktorer i informanternas relationer. Studien visar även att relationerna kan ge upphov till negativa jämförelser genom att vissa killar jämför sig med influencers idealiserade innehåll såsom utseende, dyra ägodelar och lyxiga levnadssätt. Resultatet visar dessutom flera samband mellan killarna då de beskrivit att de upplever att de förväntas visa upp perfekta versioner av sig själva i sociala medier. Studien visar på att influencers idealiserade och maskulina innehåll tenderar att bidra till den press som informanterna förklarade att de upplever. Däremot gick det inte att bekräfta i denna studie att influencers är en bidragande faktor till denna upplevda press.

    En stor del av livet finns idag på internet. Det är där vi scrollar nyheter, kollar film, hänger med kompisar, betalar räkningar och shoppar. Allt är bara en knapptryckning bort. Smidigt och lätt!

    Men för många kan internet också vara komplicerat och svårt att förstå. Forskarna Emma Sorbring, Lotta Löfgren-Mårtenson och Martin Molin har pratat med många ungdomar och unga vuxna med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning om deras upplevelser av internet, om allt från sociala medier och spel till mobbning och källkritik. Hur ser de på riskerna och möjligheterna på nätet?

    Att veta hur man ska agera på nätet och vem man kan lita på är viktigt för att kunna känna sig delaktig i samhället. I "Livet på internet" får unga med IF mängder av information, tips och råd om hur man kan tänka för att våga vara på nätet och samtidigt känna sig trygg.

    Today we live in a media society where mobile phones have become a tool for both everyday chores and entertainment. Instagram is one of the world's largest social media platforms where its content affects individuals in different ways. The purpose of the study is to gain an understanding of how Instagram affects young women's body image. The method used in the study was a qualitative form consisting of semi-structured interviews, where seven participants aged 18-25 were interviewed individually. The study uses body perception, appearance ideal, social identity and social comparison, identity theory and the theory of self-presentation and critical thinking as theoretical starting points to create a deeper understanding of the study. The results of the study showed that the body image is mainly negatively affected by Instagram, where we can also see a connection between identity construction and body perception in the respondents. We could also see that comparisons between the user's own body and bodies that are published on Instagram have a greatsignificance for their body image, where comments and likes are an important form of confirmation. In summary, it is difficult to determine whether the content on Instagram reflects reality or not as many paint a picture where everything seems perfect.

    This degree project examines the aspects that motivated 3D animated movie creators to combine analog and digital 3D animation techniques in a symbiosis. This can be done using new technology through 3D scanning and 3D printing. Where analog artifacts have the ability to be scanned into a computer to be animated digitally, while digitally created artifacts possess the ability to be 3D printed, and animated in an analogue environment.  By interviewing Meindbender Animation Studio, a digital 3D animation studio, and Dockhus Animation, which is primarily an analog stop-motion animation studio, we would like to test the validity of our hypothesis that this is primarily about getting an aesthetic visual imperfection. During these interviews, their experiences and views are explored and discussed in working with a symbiosis of analogue and digital 3D animation techniques, and their own reasons as to why they themselves chose to work with such a symbiosis. From this we want to create a greater understanding of the possibilities of symbiosis and give light to the so far unexplored phenomena which so far has become very relevant in the modern production of animated images.   The results were well matched with our hypothesis, that visual and animated imperfections play a major role in the decision of working with a symbiosis of analog and digital 3D animation. However, the potential of 3D animation was not the most crucial factor in choosing a symbiosis. This can provide scope for further research.

    they reflect on it. A study has been made where seven girls aged 18-19 years that everyone is active on Instagram and publishes selfies more frequently were interviewed. The purpose of this study is to try to clarify if there is a correlation between girls' self-image and identity through the publication of selfies. This is investigated by the theories of identity formation through social networks, as well as the preparation of face vs the body and its importance. The study showed that the biggest reason for the publication of selfies was about to get confirmation. And that the positive response can be seen as a motivating factor to continue to publish selfies this then it generates a confirmation that the person is looking for

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to corporate visual identity; partly by mapping the field for future research – what we know and need to know – but also by providing theoretical and practical implications for professional practice. Managing corporate visual identity systems – containing guidelines for the use of name, symbol, logotype, fonts, colour and slogan – is namely a neglected research area in literature on communication and PR. This even though our western society is becoming more and more visually oriented with companies constantly competing for our attention. The paper takes the form of a literature review and begins with introducing theories on corporate visual identity, focusing on T.C. Melewar’s and John Saunders’ advocacy of its management as the eighth p "publications" in an extended marketing mix. After that, the process behind the systematic selection of empirical studies is rendered, which later is used to review the theories and investigate the arguments supporting Melewar’s and Saunders’ statement.

    The result of the study confirms that corporate visual identity includes elements beyond the traditional marketing mix and that organizations see benefits in moving past these to express other forms of visual communication. In addition to buildings, vehicles and clothing, smaller elements such as stationery and forms are also considered to be effective ways of projecting their visual identity. A consistent corporate visual identity is in turn attested to have a positive impact on a variety of things, including consumers, employees, corporate image, reputation, sales, recruitment and performance. To titulate the management of corporate visual identity systems as the eighth p "publications" in an extended marketing mix therefore feels in order.
