    Abstract [en]

With the elderly population growth during the last few years, the supply of housing has not grown at the same rate. This study has examined the main factors that affect the construction of senior housing in Gothenburg. Four variables have been selected, one dependent that stands for number of senior housing being built and three independent that is population, productioncosts and interest rate. With quarterly data from 2010-2020, tests have been carried out to see how these variables affect the construction of senior housing. A Dickey-Fuller test has been made resulting in the variables population and interest rate containg unit roots. A test for cointegration was performed, the variables population 70-74 and interest rate were cointegrated. A multicollinearity test was also performed which gave results with signs of multicollinearity between the variables population 70-74 and interest rate. Then a multiple regression was performed which showed that the variables population, production costs and interest rate have a significant impact. Two more regressions were performed, one without population and one without interest rate. It showed that there is no longer evidence that the variable interest rate has significant impact. The result confirms that the population growth 70-74 has the biggest effect.
