    Abstract [en]

    Background: This study examines how social development occurs in adolescents with the insertshort period of supervisionin accordance withact concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments. The insert is for schoolchildren over the age of 12 outside their own home in conjunction with the school day andduring the holidays. This study is based on the professionals' perspective. The study is based on the leisure-activities available on short-term supervision and in which way they promote the social development for adolescents. It also focuses on the interactions with others and how it can lead to social development. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore if and how the leisure activities and interactions with others that occur during the operation short-term supervision LSS contribute to social development of adolescents, based on the professionals' perspective.Methodology: The empirical data were collected through interviews with seven informants from four different organizations engaged in short-term supervision. Social development is analyzed on the basis of the socio-cultural perspective that highlights the collective learning.Conclusions:Leisure-activities in which several can attend helps facilitate social development. In the adolescent ́s collective learning, they use the discursive tools to share their knowledge with each other. It is important that the professionals plan the adolescent ́s leisure-activities in groups. Through the creation of a collective learning promoted social development. Businesses' approach is different, which affects the interaction and social development. The adolescents are socialized into the context available on short period of supervision and learn thereby what rules apply in business. The use of aids during the short period of supervision contributes to social development. Aids are physical tools and discursive tools that promote social development.

    Abstract [en]

    Assessing risk for violence among incarcerated people in prisons, in inpatient settings and otherwise, is an important part of the work aimed at reducing the number of violent encounters in these settings. Reducing violence is beneficial for both incarcerated persons and for the staffs work environment. The purpose of this thesis is to make a review of research of how to assess risk for violence among incarcerated people in different settings, describe research about the assessment methods, how these methods define ‘violence’ and what theoretical explanations to violence that are used. Furthermore, what level of consideration for the interaction between staff and incarcerated people is taken when assessing risk for violence.

    The thesis is performed by searching for, and analyzing written material with the questions asked in the purpose of the study. The following words are used for search in databases: “inmate”, “inpatient”, “violence”, “risk”, “assessment”, “juvenile” and “youth”.

    The findings in the study gives that there are models for assessing violence, with research-proven validity and mostly also interrater-reliability, namely: Brøset Violence Checklist (BVC), Historical-Clinical-Risk management-20(HCR-20), Dynamic Appraisal of Situational Aggression (DASA) and Structured Assessment of Violence Risk in Youth (SAVRY). Aside from these findings there are also some models using only static variables to assess risk for violence among incarcerated, also known as “actuarial” models. Generally, the research shows that more dynamic variables that are prone to change, has stronger validity in predicting violence among incarcerated than historical, static data. The BVC and the DASA takes greater consideration to interaction between staff and incarcerated than the HCR-20 and the SAVRY, that is not primarily constructed to assess risk for violence in forensic/caregiving settings in the immediate short term.

    The result is discussed on basis of the strengths and weaknesses of the thesis, as well as ethical problems with assessing risk for violence among people that have been deprived of their freedom. The purpose of different kinds of incarcerations and different categories of incarcerated people that have different needs, may cause need for the results to be carefully considered- What does apply in one setting may not be true in another. From an ethical point of view, it is to be taken into consideration how the information from violence risk assessments is used, since punitive and repressing interventions often is far from desired.

    Background:

    Research tells us that mental illness, stress, exhaustion and burnout have become more noticed among staff in psychiatry especially among staff in forensic psychiatry. Lack of knowledge, social support and motivation are some of the factors that affect staff in a negative way. Satisfaction and respect among colleagues are things that instead brings joy and strength at work.

    Aim:

    The aim of this study was to examine the personal strategies professionals in forensic psychiatry uses to promote and preserve their well-being.

    Method:

    A qualitative approach was chosen and six professionals were interviewed with semi-structured interviews. The transcribed texts were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.

    Results:

    The results of the interviews resulted in three themes: the experience of security and confidence at work, the art of seeing a difficulty as a challenge and well-being of different dimensions. The themes in turn resulted in six subthemes: security and confidence, sense of security, the network's importance to the well-being, self-motivation and personal strategies, meaningfulness in work and leisure and well-being factors characterized by.

    Conclusion:

    Personal strategies professionals in forensic psychiatry uses are the strategies that come with the experience. Colleagues, leadership, work environment, life outside work are some of the important factors that professionals feel provides energy to work in the best possible way. Family and friends are important for the professionals well-being and at work the security and confidence to the colleagues are important.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to examine how parents of young children reason about the distribution of parental leave days and how the economy is affected during this time. Our questions were: What are the factors that determine the distribution of parental leave days and with what arguments is this distribution negotiated? Are the parents based on gender equality thinking in this distribution and if so, how is it expressed? And how is the economy affected during parental leave? We have used six different semi-structured interviews with parents with young children. The theoretical starting points for this study is the role theory which describes our social roles and also Yvonne Hindman’s theory about gender system. 

    The results show that there has been a change in who is on parental leave. It’s no longer just the mother, more fathers choose to stay home, but it’s still the mother who takes the biggest responsibility for the parental leave. The results also show that economy, involvement and the motherhood are common factors that decides who should be at home with the children. More fathers take parental leave the more equal society we get. Our respondents share their experience of a difficult economy during parental leave.

    Syftet med studien är att undersöka asylsökande föräldrars upplevelse av att göra föräldraskap i Sverige under och efter asyltiden, samt att identifiera resurser och hinder som de upplever föreligger för att utöva ett föräldraskap under asyltiden.

    För att undersöka detta har vi valt en kvalitativ ansats där vi utfört fem semistrukturerade intervjuer. Det insamlade materialet har analyserats och bearbetats med en tematisk analysmetod. Analys och resultat presenteras ihop med aktuell forskning inom föräldraskap i asyl och föräldraskap samt ett handlingsteoretiskt perspektiv och socialt kapital.

    Det som framkommit i vår empiri är att föräldrarna gör sitt föräldraskap genom olika handlingar. Vilka resuser de har och vilka resurser de saknar. Genom att skapa nya sociala nätverk för att främja sina barns integrering och framtid, eller genom att söka arbete för att skapa ekonomiska förutsättningar för sitt föräldragörande. I sitt handlande använder de sig av sina sociala resurser för att skapa trygga rum för sin familj. För föräldrarna var skapandet av trygghet för barnen viktig och de har på olika sätt nyttjat sin handlingskapacitet för att säkerställa tryggheten för sina barn.

    Skolan som forum för integration: Elevers och skolpersonals upplevelser av en kommunalt styrd insats för att motverka skolsegregation2023Report (Other academic)

    Skolsegregation är ett växande samhällsproblem både i Sverige och internationellt som har stora negativa konsekvenser för elevers måluppfyllelse och rätt till likvärdig utbildning och därmed likvärdiga livschanser.

    Den här rapporten är en sammanställning av empiriskt material som samlats in inom ramen för ett samverkansprojekt kopplat till Trollhättans Stads arbete med att minska skolsegregation och öka likvärdigheten för kommunens elever. Efter vårterminen 2020 stängdes två skolenheter i Trollhättan och skolornas elever anvisades plats på och erbjöds skolskjuts till fem andra skolor. I samband med beslutet om denna omorganisering påbörjades ett samverkansprojekt mellan utbildningsförvaltningen på Trollhättans Stad och Högskolan Väst. Ett samverkansprojekt är ett tidsbegränsat forskningsprojekt där båda parter gemensamt formulerar syfte och forskningsfrågor. Syftet med detta samverkansprojekt var att skildra hur berörda aktörer – rektorer, lärare, övrig skolpersonal och elever – upplevde kommunens förändringsarbete för att motverka segregation och öka likvärdighet genom skolstängningar. De frågor som undersöktes var:

    • Hur arbetar rektorer och lärare för att inkludera de nya eleverna och vilka framgångsfaktorer och utmaningar kan identifieras i arbetet med inkludering?

    • Vad betyder den sociala och språkliga miljön för elevers lärande?

    • Hur upplever eleverna, både de som flyttar och de som går på de mottagande skolorna, sammanslagningarna utifrån ett psykosocialt perspektiv?

    Abstract [en]

    In social work clients encounter arts in different contexts as in, for example, daytime activities, employment or job training. The participation in the activities may be voluntary or mandatory. This study examines how specialist crafts tutor work with creative activities in social work and the structures and attitudes necessary to provide conditions for change for the participant. The work places surveyed in this study all used creative methods involving visual arts such as paintings, ceramics, textile and sewing.

    The study´s purpose is to deepen the understanding of how visual creative activity is used to enable change for users in the field of social work. The activities evaluated in the study all use forms of visual creativity, which include various forms of creativity such as painting, sculpture, textile printing and sewing.

    The study was conducted based on a qualitative approach and the choice of method was unstructured focus groups with specialist crafts tutors. The method was extended during the research process by a telephone interview. In total, there were two focus group sessions and one telephone interview with a total of six informants.

    The theoretical framework from which creative activity is highlighted and analyzed is based on symbolic interactionism, where definition of the situation and sympathetic introspection are two key concepts. Other key concepts in the study are Axel Honneth's definition of recognition as well as Martin Buber's interpersonal encounters.

    The result of the study shows that specialist crafts tutors work contributes to change through structural and pedagogical approaches, which both are permeated by a process-oriented approach where the participant's own processes are central. In the final discussion the potential of creative activities for change within social work is discussed in relation to the theoretical concepts of interpersonal encounters, definition of the situation and symbolic violence to illuminate a choice between two approaches that social pedagogue faces.

    Abstract [en]

    Bakgrund: När ett barn behöver omhändertas är den vanligaste vårdformen placering i familjehem. Det är socialnämndens ansvar att för det placerade barnet skapa en gynnsam uppväxt med trygga förhållanden. Socialnämnden ansvarar också för att de familjehem som vårdar dessa barn får stöd, råd och hjälp vid behov för att klara uppdraget (Socialtjänstlagen). Syfte: Syftet med studier var att undersöka vilket stöd familjehemsföräldrarna erhåller från socialtjänsten och familjehemsföräldrarnas erfarenheter av stöd och stödets betydelse för deras uppdrag som familjehem. Metod: Studien har en kvalitativ ansats där materialet har skapats genom sex semistrukturerade intervjuer med olika familjehemsföräldrar. Det empiriska materialet har bearbetats och analyserats genom analysmetoden IPA. I relation till tidigare forskning och studiens teoretiska ram presenteras sedan resultatet. Resultat: Den här studien visar på hur stöd, eller bristen på stöd från socialtjänsten påverkar familjehemsföräldrarnas uppdrag. Vi har kommit fram till att de viktigaste komponenterna som utgör ett gott stöd är specifika utbildningar, att socialsekreterarna är lättillgängliga, att de får fullgod information om det placerade barnet innan det tas emot i familjehemmet, att socialsekreteraren tar en spontan kontakt med familjehemsföräldrarna och att relationen mellan familjehemsföräldrarna och socialsekreteraren är trygg och stabil.

    Sammanfattning Bakgrund: Sedan finanskrisen 2008 har antalet arbetslösa höjts i Sverige och som har successivt sänkts de senaste åren med risk att höjas igen inom framtiden. Under denna period har antalet långtidsarbetslösa individer höjts till 30 % av den totala siffran av arbetslösa.

    I dagens läge finns många organisationer som hjälper långtidsarbetslösa att komma ut ur arbetslösheten och in på arbetsmarknaden. Med tanke på att vid arbete med arbetslöshet läggs ett fokus på att matcha rätt person till rätt jobb utifrån individers styrkor kan det sägas att arbetet som utförs sker utifrån ett salutogent perspektiv.

    Syfte: Syftet med studien är att komma fram till de faktorer som leder till långtidsarbetslöshet/fast anställning utifrån personalens perspektiv samt undersöka hur organisationerna hjälper långtidsarbetslösa individer till att få ett fast lönearbete utifrån ett salutogent perspektiv.

    Metod: En kvalitativ undersökningsform har använt i denna studie utifrån att den empiriska datainsamlingen gjorts med hjälp av halvstrukturerade intervjuer med 4 informanter på 3 organisationer i 4 kommuner. Datan har senare analyserats med hjälp av en tematisk analys.

    Resultat: Resultaten visar på att organisationerna arbetar utifrån ett salutogent perspektiv samt med empowerment i mån av att stärka individer samt hjälpa individer att hjälpa sig själva genom stärkande av individers hälsa, självförtroende, känsla av sammanhang, tillgång till resurser m.m.

    Vidare så framkom det utifrån intervjuerna att de faktorer som är ledande till arbetslöshet även är de faktorer som är ledande till att individer får arbete. Dessa faktorer finns i två dimensioner, Faktorer på makronivå (exempelvis strukturändringar och konjunkturer) samt faktorer på mikronivå (exempelvis utbildning, hälsa och individuella aspekter). Organisationerna arbetar förhållandevis med stärkande av individerna genom de faktorer som är på mikronivå vilka går att påverka på en individuell nivå såsom att ge möjligheter till erfarenhet, kontaktnät, utbildning etc.

    Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att utifrån ett ledarskapsperspektiv beskriva och analysera hur chefer i socialt arbete upplever att de kan påverka organisationskulturen. Metod: Denna studie bygger på kvalitativa, halvstrukturerade, intervjuer av kommunala mellanchefer i socialt arbete verksamma inom omsorg av funktionshindrade. Bakgrund: Kulturen inom medarbetargruppen kommer att påverka brukaren i sista led. Om chefer kan påverka kulturen betyder det också att de påverkar brukarens liv. Tidigare forskning som studien lyfter fram behandlar främst ledarskap och organisationskultur.

    Resultat: Resultat visar att cheferna upplever att de använder sig av motivation, delaktighet och målsättning för att påverka verksamhetens kultur i enlighet med organisationens mål. Det handlar om att motivera medarbetargruppen i sin helhet och att hitta individuella motivationsfaktorer hos varje specifik medarbetare. Cheferna är noga med att delaktiggöra medarbetarna i så stor mån som det är möjligt utifrån organisationen och den beslutsfattande hierarki den innefattar. Det skapar motivation och kan alstra en medarbetargrupp som strävar för verksamhetens mål. Cheferna lyfter fram ett antal olika ingångar för att kunna arbeta med motivation, delaktighetoch målstyrning som strategier till exempel; utvecklingssamtal, utvecklingsdagar, arbetsplatsträffar och värdegrundsarbete. Under avsnitten analys och diskussionproblematiseras dessa resultat.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study is to, on the basis of three autobiographies where the main character is a victim of honor-related violence and oppression, find out how individuals perceive their life situation. In what ways are there signs of collective oppression against individuals who are exposed to honor-related violence and oppression in our three selected autobiographies? In what ways do the individuals, who are in the process of breaking free from violence and oppression, experience the encounter with professionals in social work, in our three selected autobiographies? Is there a clear turning-point away from honor-related violence and oppression on the basis of our three selected autobiographies, and if so for what reason?

    As a theoretical basis, we have chosen to use KASAM and stigma. The first is created by Aaron Antonovsky and his theory of KASAM; sense of shared context, and the second is Erving Goffman’s theory of stigma. We will be using the theories during our analysis of individual's experiences of honor-related violence and oppression. The theories are available to us, understandable and especially useful with previous research, and the results we have seen in the autobiographies. We have chosen to do a textual analysis where our method is a content analysis, and it has a phenomenological basis. We do this in order to gain an understanding of how a person living with honor-related violence and oppression experience their situation. The results show that all of the individuals have experiences of a collective oppression, from family and relatives to maintain the honor that exists within the group. We have concluded that the individual's experience of the professional is important to embrace the help that they need. And that two of the three individuals perceive that the professional is the turning-point away from the honor-related violence and oppression

    In my analytical study, I examine images in advertising for hygiene products aimed at women, with products like perfume, lipstick and skin care crème in focus. The purpose of this study is to highlight how advertising may affect the creation of gender, as well as the mechanisms that interact with a purpose of selling a message and a product. The essay begins with an overview of previous research focusing on gender stereotypes, advertising, identity and women in advertising. Further proceeding with the essay chosen theoretical an attitude which include text and picture in advertising, social constructionism, gender theory and semiology. The results demonstrate that the mechanisms used in order to sell a product portrays women as passive participants where the focus is concentrated around the outer attributes such as thinness and youthfulness. The attributes that are produced in earlier research demonstrated to have adverse effects on both body image and that this petition maintains stereotypical attitudes related to gender roles. Furthermore it may be construed as advertising with a certain possibility affects gender in a negative way.

    Disability care in Sweden has grown out of the old poor care and led to a gradual transfer of responsibility for persons with disabilities from family and charity to the community. The social work and political decisions of the 20th century eventually arise in 1994 resulting in LSS – law on support and service to some people with disabilities. LSS is made up of a series of actions to be adopted, enforced and executed by the municipality of today and to ensure they are covered by the law of good living conditions. One of the efforts is a secondary lease by the municipality with access to staff and service. This staff and their own stories interest us, because working with disabled people is a core activity in the area of social pedagogy.

    Objective:

    To examine how professionals in residence with particular service under section 9: 9 LSS perceive their professional role, mission and action and the factors affecting the room for maneuver.

    Method:

    Qualitative interviews with eight people from a total of four different units situated in two municipalities. The analytical method is focused essence with color coding of text in the interviews to answer the research question.

    Results:

    Informants tell us that they feel their professional role and its mission to ensure that their users have it as good and safe as possible and compensate for the disability. They say that they'll support their needed to become as independent as possible. Informants feel their room for maneuver to be good. Factors that restrict the room for maneuver is needed own will and when staff does not agree. There were not any major bureaucratic constraints of the room for maneuver. Economy was cited as a factor affecting the role and room for maneuver.

    Syftet med studien är att åskådliggöra hur anhöriga till personer med demenssjukdom upplever stöd som tillhandahålls, erfarenheter av erkännande och delaktighet i det stöd som tillhandahålls samt hur anhörigas bearbetningsprocess kan förstås. Vi har valt att fokusera på anhörigas egna berättelser i att vara anhörig till någon med demens.

    Studien är skapad som en kvalitativ studie där tre semi-strukturerade intervjuer genomfördes. Utifrån det som de anhöriga berättat för oss har vi använt ett teoretiskt ramverk som inkluderar erkännande, delaktighet och gemenskap. Resultatet har analyserats utifrån tematisk analys och fyra teman skapades. Våra teman i studien är den dubbla döden, det egna livet, överdriven ansvarskänslan och stödets olika dimensioner. 

    Resultatet i studien visar att de anhöriga hade olika upplevelser kring det stöd som tillhandahölls, att information till de anhöriga förmedlades på olika sätt och att professionellas tillgänglighet har betydelse i stödet åt anhöriga. De anhöriga beskriver dessutom en långdragen sorg. Vi beskriver i diskussionen att forskning kring anhöriga rent generellt är knapphändig och att ämnet bör beröras mer i utbildningssammanhang.

    Enligt socialstyrelsens rekommendationer bör varje kommun uppföra genomförandeplaner för de invånare som har en insats genom Socialtjänstlagen (SoL). För att få en insats genom SoL skall en handläggare göra en utredning som ligger till underlag för ett eventuellt beviljande av insats. Syftet med studien är att beskriva och analysera hur informationen förmedlas mellan de personer som är delaktiga i uppförandet av biståndsbeslut och genomförandeplaner inom boendestöd. Vi har studerat detta genom att granska dokumentationen i boendestödsbeslut och intervjuat de personer som är med och upprättar dessa dokument.Frågorna som vi vill ha besvarade i studien är:• • •Hur sker implementeringen av ett biståndsbeslut? Vilken hänsyn tas till brukaren vid upprättandet av dokumentationen? Hur ser dokumentationen ut och hur förhåller sig genomförandeplanen till biståndsbeslutet?Implementeringen sker i ett ständigt informationsflöde mellan de inblandade aktörerna och det som i stor utsträckning styr vad som dokumenteras i genomförandeplanen är informationen och viljan från brukaren. Beslutet kan skilja gentemot genomförandeplanen p.g.a. att ny information har tillkommit när arbetet med uppförandet av genomförandeplanen pågått.

    Abstract [en]

    The study has its starting point in two articles in the daily press, one debate article and one reply, about the security guards work at the pub. The debaters in the article said that the insecurity in the nightlife depends on the security guards abusing their power discriminating and committing violence against the guests at the pub. A security guard replicated on the article and said that the insecurity in the pub is not created by the security guards but by the pub owner with his staff. There is a conflict of interest between the security guard's assignment and the pub owner who pays the guard's salary. The owner of the pub would like to have influence over the work of the security guards, otherwise he /she may lose his /her work. In the reply, it is proposed that the solution to the conflict of interest is that the security guards become employees and receive a salary from the police authority. The contents of the security guard's reply to the debate article caught my interest in this study.

    The aim of the study is to gain increased knowledge and understanding of how the conditions are for the work of the security guards, in a pub environment, based on three issues. 

    • How do the guards experience their profession and mission?

    • How do the security guards handle the conflict of interest between the principal police authority and the owner of the pub?

    • How do the security guards reason to be state employees and receive salaries from the police authority? 

    The theoretical perspective of the study consists of Rational Choice theory (RC), Georg Simmel's theory of triads and Pierre Bourdieu's concept of habitus. To answer the questions, qualitative method was chosen with interview. Five security guards were interviewed through semi-structured interview method. The interviews were printed and analyzed by thematic analysis. The themes that appear in the study are the professional role of the security guards, conflict of interest, form of employment and improvement area.

    The study's results show that the security guards watch their professional role as an important service function at the pub where good reception of the guests is in focus. The described conflict of interest was known by the interviewed guards, but they judged that it was caused by security guards who were unsuitable and who did not stand up for their profession and assignments. All security guards did not want to be employed and receive salaries from the police authority, but argued that security guards would only be employed by security companies and not directly by the owner of the pub.

    Problematisk skolfrånvaro är ett växande problem i dagens samhälle. Problematiken är ofta multifaktoriell och skolan kan sällan ensam komma till rätta med problemet. Samverkan är därför centralt för att lyckas stötta varje elev till återintegrering. Syftet med studien var att undersöka skolkuratorers erfarenheter av samverkansarbetet kring problematisk skolfrånvaro. Studiens frågeställningar var; Vilka erfarenheter har skolkuratorer av samverkan kring problematisk skolfrånvaro? Hur beskriver skolkuratorer attityders betydelse församverkansarbetet kring barn och unga i problematisk skolfrånvaro? Vilka möjligheter och begränsningar/utmaningar ser skolkuratorer vid samverkansarbetet kring barn och unga i problematisk skolfrånvaro? Studien utgick från en kvalitativ ansats och genomfördes med hjälp av semistrukturerade intervjuer med fem skolkuratorer. De transkriberade intervjuerna analyserades med hjälp av tematisk analys. Analysen genomfördes med hjälp av Danermarksoch Germundssons (2007, 2013) teori om samverkan med utgångspunkt i ROSmodellen och Huxham och Vangens (2003, 2004) teori om samverkansfördelar. Resultatet visar att vårdnadshavare är nyckelpersoner i samverkansarbetet kring problematisk skolfrånvaro. Hämmande faktorer för samverkan beskrivs som brist på samsyn och avsaknad av rutiner och struktur för det gemensamma arbetet. Främjande faktorer för samverkan som lyfts är personlig kännedom samt kunskapoch förståelse för samverkansparters skilda förutsättningar.

    Tidigare forskning visar att HBTQ-personer uppfattar stress och lider av psykisk ohälsa i samband med komma ut-processen. Syftet med studien är att utforska hur HBTQ- personer uppfattar förväntningar i komma utprocessen och undersöka vilka effekter dessa förväntningar har på komma utprocessen. Studien är kvalitativ och genomförd via semistrukturerade intervjuer och studiens urval är 6 homo- och bisexuella personer i varierande åldrar från 18 år. Studiens empiri analyseras via av en kvalitativ analysmetod. Tidigare forskning och empiri från intervjuer ligger till grund för resultat och analys. Studiens resultat visar på att det bland intervjupersonerna inte finns några mönster på hur förväntningarna uppfattas i komma ut-processen. Resultatet visar att intervjupersonerna uppfattar både tilldragande och frånskjutande faktorer som försvårar och möjliggör komma utprocessen. Trygga miljöer, positiv respons och normalisering av intervjupersonernas egna sexuella läggning möjliggör komma ut processen. Rädsla, oro och utsatthet är faktorer som försvårar. Resultatet visar också att stigmatisering, heteronormer och sammanhang problematiserar komma utprocessen. Behovet för intervjupersonerna att komma ut påverkas av sammanhang, normer och attityder. Intervjupersonerna uttrycker både negativa och positiva uppfattningar om förväntningar i samband med att komma ut.

    Abstract [en]

    Men has dominated the labour markets management positions through the history and formed the qualities of leadership. The leadership is linked to agentic attributes that are considered "male". How women deal with a manager role has mostly been studied in male- dominated environments where women are deviants. There is a knowledge gap in the research regarding women’s ways of handling managerial positions in a female- dominated environment where the women is the norm. The aim of this study was to see how women managers in female- dominated places of work comment on male and female qualities in the manager role. The study has a qualitative approach where six semi- structured interviews with female managers in the public sector. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. The material is processed and analyzed by thematic analysis method which has been interpreted by social role theory and role congruity theory. The two theories are used to illuminate the differences that we believe is due to the social constructions of gender and the gender order witch also is used in the analysis. The respondents felt that they were respected as managers and expressed no conflict in the role, to be a woman and at the same time manager. They constituted the norm in social services where most around them were women. The majority of the managers did not feel that they needed to use some specific strategies to be taken seriously or get their voice heard. The women felt that they did not have specific expectations because they were women; they felt that their own expectations influenced them the most. All managers describe their leadership from both communal and agentic characteristics. They describe more communal characteristics as important in the manager role, which is far from the stereotypical agentic dominated manager role. It appears that they see management to be a balance between communal and agentic qualities but that communal characteristics emphasized most. The results reveal, however, some perceived differences between male and female managers conditions. The women have sometimes been regarded as inferior managers in recruitment and one of the managers who have more men around here, sometimes felt that men wanted to step in front and take over the leadership. One manager mentions strategies to get men to handle her straight communication. Several women described that they felt that men have it easier when it comes to being accepted into the managerial role and easier accepted in its authority. It also appears that some women find that they were expected to solve more problematic situations just because they were women

    Under 2016 ökade invandringen till Sverige till rekordsiffran 163 005 personer. I Sverige finns det en tvåårig introduktionsperiod, ibland benämnd integrationsperiod. För alla nyanlända flyktingar är varje kommun skyldig att erbjuda minst 60 timmars samhällsorientering under flyktingarnas introduktionsperiod. Den här studien undersöker hur tidigare deltagarna i samhällsorientering uppfattat integrationsinsatsen Samhällsorientering för nyanlända. Det handlar mer specifikt om de nya kunskaperna som de inhämtar om det svenska samhället i kursen gör att de upplever sig vara mer integrerade och delaktiga i det nya samhället. Studien undersöker även om deltagarnas empowerment har ökat efter att de genomgått kursen. Studien har en kvalitativ ansats och studiens data är inhämtad genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med tidigare deltagare i kursen samhällsorientering. Respondenterna är vuxna kvinnor och män som har deltagit i kursen samhällsorientering för nyanlända i Västerviks kommun.

    Resultat av denna studie visar att deltagarna upplever att samhällsorientering har gett dem goda förutsättningarna för att bli integrerade och delaktiga i det svenska samhället. Samtliga respondenter upplever att efter att de tagit del av kursen har de mer kontroll över sitt liv i Sverige då de vet hur det svenska samhället fungerar, vilket innebär att deltagandet i samhällsorientering har stärkt deras empowerment.

    Bakgrund: Den psykiska ohälsan är högre bland HBTQ-ungdomar än andra ungdomar och den ökar på grund av stigmatisering och utsatthet. Det finns dock mötesplatser som arbetar för att ge ett bättre bemötande samt stöd och hjälp. Dessa mötesplatser arbetar för att ge trygghet till ungdomarna samt för att förändra attityder och normer i samhället.

    Syfte: Att undersöka trygga mötesplatser för HBTQ-ungdomar och vad som är bakgrunden till dessa. Vidare är syftet att också ta reda på hur verksamheten på mötesplatserna bedrivs för att skapa trygghet för HBTQ-ungdomar.

    Metod: Studien bygger på en kvalitativ ansats och materialet är insamlat med hjälp av halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Intervjuerna är utförda efter en intervjuguide som består av förbestämda frågor som baserades på studiens syfte. Informanterna har bestått av 5 trygga mötesplatser över hela Sverige och en ungdom som ett exempel. En av intervjuerna är utförd på engelska. Resultatet baseras på citat med kopplingar till aktuell forskning och teoretiska utgångspunkter.

    Resultat: Resultatet visar att bakgrunden till mötesplatserna är heteronormens kraft i samhället. Vidare tas vikten av att vara sig själv upp som en del av att skapa trygghet samt hur mötesplatserna arbetar för att behålla ungdomarnas anonymitet. Det utåtriktade arbetet för att förändra attityder och normkritiskt tänkande visades vara viktigt. Fortsättningsvis var det viktigt att ge ungdomarna ett sammanhang som de fritt kunde komma till om de behövde. De största utmaningarna för mötesplatserna var begränsade resurser och heteronormens kraft i samhället.

    The study is a case study of an activity, called the Oliven, that provides practice for people who are in the Arbetsförmedlingens Job- and development guarantee. The purpose of this study was to examine what it is in the Olivens activities, for people who are part of Phase 2 and 3 of the Job- and development guarantee, which, according to the participants, are working well and what works less well. We wanted to study how the participants perceive their work situation during the time that they participate in the activities. That is to gain knowledge of how the activities for people who are looking for work can be designed so that the participants can, from a salutogenic perspective, create a sense of coherence while they are participating.

    We have collected the empirical data through participant-observation and semi-structured interviews during two days. The analysis was made using the concepts of

    comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness. We have created an image of how the participants' sense of coherence has changed during the time that they have been working at the Oliven and how their experiences of being out of a job for a long time looks like. The analysis was done in two steps, a first, empirical close interpretation and then in the second interpretation we looked for themes in the text that was highlighted by the mentioned above concepts. We found that the participants' sense of coherence has increased over time in the Oliven. The reasons for the increased sense of coherence is related to the participants' increased self-confidence, which in turn are a product of they being seen as human beings and the fact that they had their skills and resources confirmed by others. 5

    The participants highlighted the group community and meaningful work as the Olivens positive sides. However, some participants expressed that it sought a stronger leadership and clearer structure. We have learned that the main reasons for the participants increased sense of coherence is based on the participation and meaningfulness on the workplace which have increased their self-confidence.

    En stor del av svenska kvinnor över 60 år lever i ensamhushåll. Känsla av ensamhet har en negativ påverkan på äldres psykiska och fysiska hälsa och därför är det här en grupp som behöver uppmärksammas inom socialpedagogiken. Denna studie handlar om äldre änkors relationsskapande efter makens bortgång. Syftet med studien var att undersöka och analysera hur änkor i tredje åldern skapade nya/intima relationer på äldre dar. Frågeställningarna var vilken roll gamla och nya relationer och gemenskaper hade spelat i änkornas liv efter en långvarig tvåsamhet, hur änkorna såg på en ny parrelation och vilka förväntningar de i så fall hade, samt vilka möjligheter och hinder till en ny parrelation vi kunde identifiera i deras berättelser. Tre änkor, 70+ år, ålderspensionerade och utan biståndsbedömda insatser deltog i studien. Studien har en kvalitativ ansats och har genomförts med hjälp av semistrukturerade intervjuer; tre enskilda, samt en fokusgruppintervju där samma tre respondenter deltog. Intervjuerna har analyserats med hjälp av tematisk innehållsanalys och intervjuerna har analyserats utifrån de teoretiska utgångspunkterna: tredje åldern, delaktighet, sociala band och livsloppsperspektiv. Ensamhet visade sig vara den största motivatorn för nya relationer, och änkorna föredrog nya vänskapsrelationer med andra solitära kvinnor framför pargemenskaper. Gemensamt för änkorna i studien var att de alla var positiva till en ny parrelation och hade önskemål och förväntningar på vad en sådan skulle innehålla. De ville leva under äktenskapsliknande former som sambo, och förväntningarna var att relationen skulle innehålla sexuell attraktion/aktivitet, kärlek, gemenskap och de vardagliga samtalen. ()()()() () () () () () () () () Det visade sig att respondenterna själva stod för både de största möjligheterna och hindren i skapandet av nya intima relationer. Respondenternas positiva inställning till att vilja leva i en ny parrelation var den största möjligheten. Även barnen (från äktenskapet med maken) samt omgivningens attityder uppgavs utgöra möjligheter eller hinder.

    A common subject today is how people experience difficulties keeping requirements from work and family apart. This study aimed to investigate: (1) What correlations can be found between experienced work-family conflict (WFC), family-work conflict (FWC), the number of hours worked (paid work), the number of hours spent on family and household labor (non-paid work) and division of labor. (2) To what extent paid work, non-paid work and division of labor can predict experienced conflict. (3) If the results concerning experienced conflict differ between women and men. The participants in the study consisted of 389 employees who lived with an employed partner. 211 women and 178 men in the ages of 29-80 years (M = 52) participated. The instrument used to answer the research questions was parts of International Social Survey Program 2012: Opinions on family and work. With correlations, regressions, and t-test the results showed that the only important variables that correlated with experienced WFC was paid work (r = .19) and nonpaid work (r = -.11). Experienced FWC did not show any important correlations for this study. The result also showed that all variables in the study could predict WFC up to 9% and experienced FWC up to 6%, and that women experienced WFC to a greater extent than men do. Division of labor had almost non-existent correlations with either conflict, but did show a strong correlation with gender (r = .58). The conclusion of the present study is that paid and non-paid work, division of labor and gender can to some extent play an important role for in what extent a person experiences conflict between work and family, and vice versa.

    The purpose of the study was to examine to what extent internal and external locus of control along with work experience could predict the degree of perceived stress for the future working life. The study also aimed to measure the degree of perceived stress for the coming working life among the participants. The study participants consisted of 45 last year students, mainly from the programs Human Resource Management and Human Factors, at University West. The study was a quantitative survey with a cross-sectional design. The questionnaire consisted of background questions, Rotter’s I-E scale, and three self-constructed questions about the stress of the future working life. The theoretical background consisted of various researchers’ definition of stress and Julian B. Rotter’s concept of locus of control. Data were analyzed in a multiple regression analysis with locus of control, work experience in the field of education and work experience in total as independent variables. Stress for the coming working life was the dependent variable. The study results, which were in line with previous research, showed

    that the degree of internal versus external locus of control and work experience, to some extent could predict the degree of perceived stress for the future working life. The results indicated that the higher degree of external locus of control an individual had, the higher the level of stress for the coming working life experienced by the individual. The results also showed that the longer work experience in the area for the education, the lower the degree of stress for future working life. The study results also showed a relatively high degree of perceived stress for the coming working life. The authors of the study found no previous research on perceived stress for the future working life. The study thus contributed to a broader field of knowledge in the area

    Abstract [en]

    Hooliganism has been brought into the spotlight over the past 20 years in Swedish media and is described as a social problem. The intention of this study is to look behind the image of hooliganism that the media shows and see what meaning the group has too the individuals in it. The study aims to see how a number of men describes their experience of how their identity was formed in the group. We also have the ambition to find out what drove them too joining the group as well as we want to know how the negative image of the group effects its identity. We collected the data in the study by doing 4, half structured, qualitative life world interviews. The theories that we have used are based on symbolic interactionism, with focus on the terms identity, stigma and masculinity. Our conclusion is that the participation in a hooligan-firm and the community that it is has an important impact on the creation of the identity. We also see that a need to belong gets fulfilled in the group and the individuals become someone in that context.

    Abstract [en]

    This study concerns the work carried out at the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO), concerning the treatment of complaints towards social services. After many years of conducting supervision of social care and hearing about an "auditing competence", I wanted to find out what this entails. This study aims to describe and analyse how the competence of IVO inspectors is put to use at work. The study contributes to our understanding of how knowledge and experience is used at work, and makes clear how different competencies can collaborate as well as how knowledge about the execution of a work activity can be conveyed and developed. The research is carried out through a case study, and the empirical data has been collected through surveys, observations, and focus group interviews. Interviews and observations were carried out with two work groups of inspectors at each of the two IVO divisions. The participant selection is based on the research questions and with consideration for the scope of the dissertation. The results show that the inspectors often stress the importance of a professional background in the areas, which they supervise. However, the results also show that the experience and knowledge which inspectors acquire from their work at IVO has the largest impact when they are involved in the treatment of complaints. The results further make clear that the composition of work groups has significance for the work task they carry out, as different competencies focus on different parts of a complaint. This study also sheds light on the importance of well integrated learning in the work as a foundation for the development of their particular auditing competence.

    Previous research talks about the importance of working preventive and health promotion with early-age students to counter mental illness. The National Board of Health and Education refers to the fact that the school has a responsibility to prevent good health in the students. Previous research also shows that there are several different methods that professionals in the school's areas can use in their work to lay the foundation for a good health in the students. Despite all the methods developed, research shows that the number of people with mental illness continues to escalate. The purpose of this study was to examine the students' experiences and views of the methods used by the school in their preventive work against bullying, violations and exclusion. The aim was also to investigate whether the methods were in line with the school's expected outcomes in the students, following the prevention of mental health related to bullying, violations and exclusion. The idea was to see how and if the methods were developed and what the students who are on their way to high school consider the changes that have taken place. The study was conducted with six semi-structured qualitative interviews. Respondents were a professional educator and a professional curator and four students at the age of 16-17 years old. The interviews were analyzed by IPA as the analytical method. The result of the study showed that the professionals work with methods that the students did not consider to be adequate. This is because the students are not aware of why the methods are used. The students also consider that the methods are not adapted to their needs. More methods are needed that students themselves may develop, and that professionals need to be better at following up the methods that the school chooses to introduce to the students.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper is a study about parents and parenting. Our purpose with this study is to see how rep-resentatives from two authorities make valuation of parents that lack parenting skills. The chosen authorities are an authority and one performer of task. Our questions are: defined by the authori-ties – what do good parenting mean? Which factors are considered in an assessment of parents? What kind of guidelines/ work models do the organisations have? To what extent do these two authorities collaborate around support and assessment? This is an empirical study, were we have interviewed representatives from two authorities, in total four groups. We have used hermeneutic interpretation to look at the empirical material. Our analy-sis is built on the system theory, intersectional analysis and collaboration theory. The terms we examined were good parenting and good enough. The view of the term good enough depended on if the term was in Swedish or in English. Overall, good parenting is when the emotional and physical care is in relation to the needs of the child. The result we found was that these two authorities share the same view on the terms that we ex-amine. Further on we describe the condition for collaboration and the meaning of reaching for the same “language”. Our conclusion is that these terms, especially good enough, is very subjective and that it´s hard to write down criteria’s. This because it´s all about people. This study also shows that the authorities work together around people. In the discussion describes the social pedagogues’ approach that includes a salutogen perspective, intersectional analysis and empowerment.

    Abstract [en]

    The background for this thesis is the author's experience of working as a system analyst during the years 1975-1081. During this period, the system development work can be characterized as expert-oriented, very often leading to the construction of large, integrated EDP-systems. The social consequences of the computerization were unplanned and unforeseen. In the first part of this thesis different system development approaches are presented and analyzed. These approaches are "traditional system development", "socio-technically oriented system development (e g Mumford's ETHICS-model), "a perspective of different interest groups", and finally, "modern system development". These approaches are analyzed from a human-oriented perspective emphasizing the consequences of each tradition regarding possibilities to develop human resources in the work situation. In the second part of the thesis the human-oriented perspective (the MOA-perspective) and the MOA-model are developed. Leavitt's well-known model is taken as a departure for the construction of the MOA-model (MOA= Människa (Human Being), Organisation (Organization), ADB-system (EDP-system). The human-oriented perspective is primarily a theoretical perspective in the field of sociology.  Knowledge, mostly from literature studies, has been put together in a logical framework reflecting the interplay between the three levels of analysis "ideas of coordination and steering", "means for cooperation and steering" (e g EDP-systems and organization structure) and "possibilities of development in work for the employee's". The MOA-model illuminates this logic in a wider context of the enterprise. With the use of the MOA-perspective special parts of the MOA-model are focused upon. The theoretical starting-point has been the basis for the development of some practical applications: a structure for development of the enterprise, and a method for analyzing changes within work situations ("job analysis").

    Abstract [en]

    The study aims to study professional experience of the conditions that exist for collaboration while working with people with neuropsychiatric disorders. The professionals are working with two different occupations in different organizations and collaborate on the target audience. The method we used is a qualitative research interview. The informants consist of six professionals working with neuropsychiatric disorders. The results were analyzed using new institutional organization theory, the concepts of business domain, integration, professionals, discretion, and with the help of literature from systematic review and the background chapter. 

    The conclusions we can draw from the results are:

    • Collaborative process works well and is well integrated between the two studied organizations. 
    • Collaboration is built on the basis of common goals and clear roles and responsibilities. Preconditions for collaboration are sufficient resources, collaboration forums, a driving force, understanding and personal commitment.
    • All professions / occupations are important in the work of people with neuropsychiatric disorders and the professions / occupations that have the medical responsibility have a higher and more dominant role.
    • Case Management could create better conditions for cooperation between the two organizations, as the working model creates better opportunities for professions / professional groups to communicate about specific individuals.
    • Collusion on target is important the individuals have complex needs and a cohesive support is essential to make sure that the individual's needs are met in the best way.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this essay is to discuss the base of sociology from an existentialistic perspective. The discussion takes it's position in the debate on the crisis of sociology, and aligns with Alvin Gouldner's understanding of the crisis. Gouldner believed that the crisis of sociology was mirrored in a sociological method that failed to describe the social reality that it meant to describe; a lack in self-criticism and self-reflexivity, a lack in self-containment in relation to state interests and a lack in moral engagement. This raises a number of questions, which I discuss in the essay. What is the role of sociology in our society? How shall we form a method that responds to the social reality that we sociologists aim to describe? How can we make sociology more moral?

    Existentialism offers a starting point to describe these questions. I argue that the existentialistic description of man as essence carries implications for the social science. By constituting a critique of a computable moral, existentialism points at the necessity of a standing self-criticism and dialogue. An existentialistic description of man as non-essence carries implications for the theory and method of sociology. Man's possibility of radical exceeding of himself means the impossibility to reach theories that describe reality as it is. At the same time, method and theory are necessary to create knowledge about social phenomenon. I read existentialism as an imperative for a sociology that is reflexive in the sense a) a reflexivity in relation to the basic presumptions (value philosophical and ontological) that effect our sociological examinations b) a self-reflexivity that amount to an understanding of the scientists own role relation to his study and the object being studied. Furthermore, I read existentialism as an imperative for a radicalization of dialogue as method.

    Som generation beskrivs dagens unga värdera sociala relationer högre och prioritera välbefinnande och lycka jämfört med tidigare generationer (1). De anses vara öppnare och mer toleranta men också mindre optimistiska då de i stor utsträckning har upplevt negativa världshändelser (2,3). Att ha en positiv syn på framtiden är en viktig aspekt av välbefinnande, men vad innebär positiv syn på framtiden för dagens unga och vad behöver de för att kunna ha en positiv syn på framtiden?

    Metod

    I detta projekt presenteras delar av resultaten från en större studie med syfte att undersöka ungas uppfattningar om psykiska besvär och psykiskt välbefinnande. Individuella intervjuer genomfördes med 33 personer mellan 16 och 25 år och analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys (4,5).

    Resultat

    Framtid tolkades av de unga som alltifrån det stundande sommarlovet till det som händer om flera år. De relaterade positiv syn på framtiden till en variation av erfarenheter så som: att känna tilltro; inneboende optimism och livslust; att ha mål att sträva mot; och saker utanför den egna makten. Möjligheten att forma framtiden själv och inte styras för mycket av andras förväntningar och krav upplevdes viktigt för att kunna ha en positiv syn på framtiden.

    Abstract [en]

    The study aims to investigate different descriptions of children of parents with substance abusive problems from the socialworkers descriptions about the work of supportgroups. Based on these descriptions, we want to highlight the factors that affect these children in a positive and negative way. This is done through semi-structured qualitative interviews of socialworkers in various supportgroups in Västra Götaland. We used an interviewguide, which was based on the study's purpose and issues. The results shows that the children of substanceabusive parents benefit from a supportive network, to meet other children in similar home situations and also foster a wider perspective of their situation through a supportgroup. Most children seem to try to keep their parents substanceabusive problems as a secret or defend their parent's behaviors in different ways. It is thus clear that children are often aware of the norms of the society when it comes to addiction and sobriety, as well as their parent´s discrepance from these norms. Many of the children referred to in our study is taking responsibility for their family situations and are living under unpredictable and sometimes turbulent conditions. A dilemma may accurre where the children themselves must decide to either continue to keep the problems as a secret or to seek support and with that reveal the hidden problems.

    Möten i ögonhöjd: Att sätta bemötande i fokus i arbetet med unga vuxna2022Report (Other academic)

    Under två år med start våren 2020 pågick det så kallade Vi-projektets arbete med att hjälpa 1000 unga i åldrarna 15–24 år som var eller riskerade att bli UVAS (unga som varken arbetar eller studerar). Projektägare var Folkhögskoleförvaltningen Västra Götalandsregionen och medfinansiärer var Europeiska socialfonden (ESF). Budgeten var nästan 100 miljoner kronor och projektet hade som övergripande mål att UVAS ska ”äga sin egen framtid, förbättra sin hälsa och närma sig jobb eller studier”. Arbetet involverade samverkanspartners som kommunalförbunden i Fyrbodal och Sjuhärad, Rädda Barnen, fem folkhögskolor, vuxenutbildningen i Borås, Trollhättan och Vänersborg samt 19 kommuner. I denna rapport presenteras resultatet från en del av projektet, nämligen bemötande. I Vi-projektet benämndes bemötande som möten i ögonhöjd, och det stod i fokus redan från början. Enligt projektbeskrivningen ska man i ett möte i ögonhöjd försöka bortse från de maktaspekter som finns i möten mellan till exempel handläggare och unga vuxna och tillgodose individens behov genom att lyssna till vad hen har att säga och medvetandegöra hens roll och aktörskap i samhället. Detta med förhoppningen att möjliggöra en förändring i den unga vuxnas liv. Då möten i ögonhöjd blev ett återkommande inslag i projektet växte intresset för vad sådana möten egentligen syftar till. Med andra ord: hur beskriver medarbetare möten i ögonhöjd och, inte minst, vad har sådana möten betytt för de unga vuxna i Vi-projektet?I rapporten kan du ta del av både medarbetarnas och de unga vuxnas beskrivningar av vad bemötande betyder för dem och hur ett bra möte kan leda till livsförändringar.

    Swedish Children's Beliefs about Agency in Family, School and Peer Situations2016Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study is to examine children's beliefs with regard to their agency (i.e., to know and predict your own actions and the consequences of them), in different contexts (family, school and peer-situations). Interviews were conducted with 103 ten-year-old Swedish children. Vignettes were presented to the children and their answers were written down for subsequent thematic analysis. Children think of their agency differently depending upon which context they find themselves in. The contexts where children believe most in their agency are found in situations with peers, and the contexts where they believe least in their agency are experienced with teachers. In situations with parents children think they would react with more resistance than with peers and teachers.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to receve a deeper knowledge of what socialworkers find important in the meeting of people with abuse-/addictionproblems. The study is solely based on the thoughts and experiences of these socialworkers. The questions the study aims to answer is what distinguishes a good meeting accorindg to the socialworkers and how does the difference in power affect the relationship between the socialworker and client? The study has a qualitative approach and has been insipred by fenemenology and the empirics has been obtained through four separate interviews with socialworkers that live in different parts of the country.

    The study shows that a respectful approach tinged by empathy is important in the meeting. The socialworkers mention different methods they use durng the meeting, for example MI. The study also shows the inequal power between the client and the socialworker.  The results shows thar even though there are certain difficulties they experience such as quiet client or a client under the influence.

    Denna studie undersöker hur professionella inom grundskolan och socialtjänsten upplever att samverkan dem emellan fungerar. Studien baseras på den kvalitativa forskningsmetoden med utgångspunkt ur en semistrukturerad intervjuguide. Intervjuerna analyserades utifrån samverkan som teori samt från tidigare forskning. Den tematiska analysen av insamlad empiri resulterade i följande teman; kommunikation/relation, tidsbrist, struktur och gemensam kunskapsbas. Oklarheter kring professionernas arbetsuppgifter och stor personalomsättning skapar hinder i samverkan. Skolan efterfrågar mer information och stöd från socialtjänsten. Socialtjänsten i sin tur styrs av en begränsad möjlighet att delge den information som skolan eftersöker. Med olika budgetar, bristande kunskap om de olika huvudmännens uppdrag så försvåras arbetet kring samverkan. Genom att ha ett tydligt syfte och med uppsatta mål så skapas förutsättningar att främja samverkansprocessen. En framgångsrik samverkan karaktäriseras av att de professionella känner tillit till varandra samt att träffarna sker regelbundet.

    It is a qualitative study that describes and analyzes how professionals deal with social issues of inclusiveness and ethics in the investigation of cases involving interventions for adolescents. The focus is on the strategies that staff in social services expressed in terms of obstacles and opportunities for working participatively and especially when it comes to dealing with ethical dilemmas that may arise.

        The method used was qualitative research interviews. Five social workers from two different municipalities were interviewed and the material is analyzed on the basis of socio-cultural theory and organizational theory. Themes that emerged were participation, ethics, discretion and flexibility, collaboration, organization, skills and time. The main obstacles that have emerged in the study are that those who work in social services have had been difficulties to fully create participation due to various factors. The study has shown that organizational factors, limited room for maneuver, and time has a huge impact and can be seen as a threat towards quality and job involvement. The main conditions that have emerged in the study is that discretion, knowledge and experience as an opportunity to create participation.

    Abstract [en]

    Domestic violence is a big public health problem. It can happen to all woman regardless of age, social status, geographic location, religion or ethnicity and it is one of the biggest threats to women's lives and health (Amnesty, 2004). The entire life situation for these women is affected and we think it is important to increase the knowledge and understanding of the phenomenon in the whole society, both for professionals and individuals. The purpose of this study was to use three autobiography and describe abused women´s experiences and perceptions of what was the deciding factor that they left their violent partner and which support the woman describes as the most valuable and desirable during the breakup. We used a qualitative content analysis based on exit theory and the concept of significant others. The results show that the deciding factors for the breakup are women´s children and fear for their own life. According to the woman is a combination of support from families and professionals the most helpful. The result also shows that professional support often is absent, women had wished for more help from the community

    Enligt 14 kap. 1 § socialtjänstlagen har alla yrkesverksamma som arbetar med barn en absolut anmälningsskyldighet vid kännedom eller misstanke om att ett barn far illa. Det förekommer en underrapportering från verksamheter såsom förskola som arbetar med mindre barn. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka förskolepersonals förmågor och förutsättningar att utföra orosanmälningar till socialtjänsten. Vidare syfte är att utforska bakomliggande faktorer till underrapportering inom förskolan samt hur det organisatoriska och kollegiala stödet upplevs bland förskolepersonal. Föreliggande kvantitativa studie genomfördes med en webbenkät där 213 respondenter fått svara på frågor och påståenden kring upplevd kunskap att utföra orosanmälningar, möjliga orsaker till att man avstått att utföra en orosanmälan samt kring organisations och kollegialt stöd vid orosanmälan. I studien ingick förskolepersonal från hela Västra Götalandsregionen. Resultatet visar att studiens respondenter anser sig i stor utsträckning ha tillräcklig kunskap och förmåga gällande utförandet av orosanmälningar. Detta går emot tidigare forskning som visar att kunskap och utbildning inom ämnet är bristande. Ur analyserat resultat förekom det att 98% av respondenterna kände till lagen om anmälningsskyldighet. 15% av respondenterna svarade att de avstått från att göra en orosanmälan trots att misstanke om att ett barn far illa uppstått. Resultatet visade en signifikant skillnad mellan respondenterna med lång yrkeserfarenhet i utförande av orosanmälningar än de med mindre yrkeserfarenhet. Resultatet visar att organisatoriskt och kollegialt stöd är en förutsättning i förskolepersonalens anmälningsförfarande. Förmågan hos förskolepersonal att identifiera barn som far illa är väsentligt, där förutsättningar som kunskap samt tydliga riktlinjer gällande anmälningsprocessen är av vikt för att kunna utföra orosanmälningar.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: In today's society, an increased statistic of divorces is seen, that may result in negative effects in children. Aim: The purpose of the study was to describe experiences of how children's attachment is affected when parents separate during the toddler years. Methods: The study was based on a literature review where qualitative and quantitative articles were obtained from the CINAHL database. During the analysis process, review of collected data was performed based on Friberg's analysis model in three steps. Results: Based on the analysis phase, two categories were created, the importance of secure relationships and short- and long-term consequences. The categories showed various factors that have affected the child based on the parental separation. The results of the study indicated the importance of a secure base and stable relationships for long-term wellbeing despite external stresses. Conclusion: The attachment was affected by lack of communication or when the secure base became unbalanced. To maintain the connection in the event of divorce, it was important to consider aspects that included safety and security. Based on the data collected, children, whose parents separated when the children were young, have shown having trust issues in new relationships in adulthood, as well as a having reduced self-esteem and fear of failure.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this article is to write against normative discourses and interpretations of ‘integration’ by nominating social workers and social work as the main subject of ‘integration’ and find ways to overcome exclusionary and discriminating social work practices. To do that, we use material collected when observing public service interpreters giving lectures to social workers about their experiences from encounters in social work settings. In a critical analysis, we found two ‘integration’ problems, that is, certain problems that social workers have in making themselves accessi-ble and where they risk reinforcing exclusion and discrimination. One problem is ‘the failure of handling perceptions that social services take children’. The other is ‘the failures of (re)producing bureaucratically driven social assistance’. These problems might lead to exclusionary practices towards migrant families, often with disastrous outcomes. The analysis shows that these problems appear due to social workers’ lack of institu-tional self-awareness, language competencies, and emphatic ability. To overcome these shortcomings, the interpreters emphasized the impact of encounters that social workers were already involved in during their everyday work. The interpreters recognize that social services are unknown to most families who are newly arrived in Sweden and point out the importance of making more efforts to be clear, rephrasing ques-tions, explaining, avoiding abbreviations, and becoming proactive in dialogue outside of the offices, i.e. recognizing that social work is language work.
