    Health-promoting factors among students in higher education within health care and social work: a cross-sectional analysis of baseline data in a multicentre longitudinal study2022In: BMC Public Health, E-ISSN 1471-2458, Vol. 22, no 1, article id 1314Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    Background: Educational environments are considered important in strengthening students’ health status and knowledge, which are associated with good educational outcomes. It has been suggested to establish healthy universities based on a salutogenic approach – namely, health promotion. The aim of this study was to describe health-promoting resources and factors among first-semester students in higher education in healthcare and social work. Methods: This cross-sectional study is based on a survey distributed among all students in seven healthcare and social work programmes at six universities in southern Sweden. The survey was carried out in 2018 using a self-reported, web-based questionnaire focussing on general health and well-being, lifestyle factors together with three validated instruments measuring health-promoting factors and processes: the Sense of Coherence (SOC) scale, Salutogenic Health Indicator Scale (SHIS) and Occupational Balance Questionnaire (OBQ). Results: Of 2283 students, 851 (37.3%) completed the survey, of whom 742 (87.1%) were women; 722 (84.8%) were enrolled on healthcare programmes, and 129 (15.2%) were enrolled on social work programmes. Most reported good general health and well-being (88.1% and 83.7%, respectively). The total mean scores for the SOC scale, SHIS and OBQ were, respectively, 59.09 (SD = 11.78), 44.04 (SD = 9.38) and 26.40 (SD = 7.07). Well-being and several healthy lifestyles were related to better general health and higher SOC, SHIS and OBQ scores. Multiple linear and logistic regressions showed that perceived well-being and no sleeping problems significantly predicted higher general health and higher SOC, SHIS and OBQ scores. Being less sedentary and non-smoking habits were significant predictors of higher SOC. Conclusions: Swedish students in higher education within the healthcare and social work sector report good general health and well-being in the first semester, as well as health-promoting resources (i.e. SOC, SHIS and OBQ), and in some aspects, a healthy lifestyle. High-intensity exercise, no sleeping problems and non-smoking seem to be of importance to both general health and health-promotive resources. This study contributes to knowledge about the health promotive characteristics of students in the healthcare and social work fields, which is of importance for planning universities with a salutogenic approach. © 2022, The Author(s).

    Abstract [en]

    Background: During the recent years a great amount of unaccompanied children have arrived to Sweden. They constitute a vulnerable group since they lack the protection of an adult. Previous research shows that they often have traumatic experiences and suffer from mental health problems. Nurses need to be aware of these issues to be able to provide good care for the asylum seeking children. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the experiences of unaccompanied children seeking asylum. Method: A literature review based on the content of six qualitative studies, four quantitative studies and two studies of mixed method. Results: The findings revealed four main themes; Being a survivor, Almost in safety, Mental vulnerability and Creating a new life. The results show that the children have survived war and persecution and have had to leave their families to search for safety. They have a great fear of being sent back and express a need for support and encouragement. It also appears that many of the children feel lonely and isolated and that a significant part suffer from mental health problems such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression and anxiety. The children strive to create a new network and to succeed. Conclusion: To be able to help unaccompanied children with traumatic experiences and consequences thereof, it is important for the nurse to build a relation based on trust. It is useful for nurses to engage a life-world perspective, since it includes a holistic view of the children and their lived reality.

    Bakgrunden till vår studie startade under vår lärarutbildning då vi läst om leken och dess betydelse i ett barns liv. Vi delade en dröm att få komma till ett barnhem i Afrika. Under en föreläsning undervisades om barnkonventionen som lyfter att alla barn ska ha rätt till lek. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka vilka möjligheter barnen ges till lek på ett barnhem i södra Tanzania. I vår studie har vi använt oss av en kvalitativ metod. Vi valde fallstudie som forskningsmetod. Det material vi har samlat in gjorde vi i form av observationer under vår vistelse på barnhemmet Bulongwa Children's Home i Tanzania. Vårt resultat visade att barnen ges goda möjligheter till lek utifrån deras förutsättningar men de förväntas att leka själva. Samspelande sker oftast barnen emellan. Kvinnorna ser sin roll som omsorgsgivande då de ger barnen tillsyn. Det tillfälle under dagen som pedagogik ges är till femåringarna under kindergarden och tillhörande lekrum.

    This study focuses on the everyday life of young persons with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). There are follow-up studies describing ADHD, and ASD in adults, and residual impairments that affect life. Few qualitative studies have been conducted on the subject of their experiences of everyday life, and even fewer are from young persons' perspectives. This study's aim was to describe how young persons with ADHD and ASD function and how they manage their everyday life based on analyses of Internet-based chat logs. Twelve young persons (7 males and 5 females aged 15-26) diagnosed with ADHD and ASD were included consecutively and offered 8 weeks of Internet-based Support and Coaching (IBSC). Data were collected from 12 chat logs (445 pages of text) produced interactively by the participants and the coaches. Qualitative content analysis was applied. The text was coded and sorted into subthemes and further interpreted into themes. The findings revealed two themes: "fighting against an everyday life lived in vulnerability" with the following subthemes: "difficult things," "stress and rest," and "when feelings and thoughts are a concern"; and the theme "struggling to find a life of one's own" with the following subthemes: "decide and carry out," "making life choices," and "taking care of oneself." Dealing with the problematic situations that everyday encompasses requires personal strength and a desire to find adequate solutions, as well as to discover a role in society. This study, into the provision of support and coaching over the Internet, led to more in-depth knowledge about these young persons' everyday lives and revealed their ability to use IBSC to express the complexity of everyday life for young persons with ADHD and ASD. The implications of the findings are that using online coaching makes available new opportunities for healthcare professionals to acknowledge these young persons' problems.

    Abstract [en]

    The following bachelor’s thesis aims to examine Donald Trump’s political leadership style, and which leadership attributes he displays to gain follower support behind political policy propositions. Based on the leadership theories of Machiavellianism and charismatic leadership, the thesis more specifically examines: How Donald Trump, if at all, displays Machiavellian and charismatic leadership attributes in his political leadership. In particular, how are these attributes displayed when justifying his proposition of a US-Mexican border wall? The thesis builds upon a single case study and uses a qualitative content analysis in order to analyze the data. Through gathered speeches from the search tool “factba.se”, it has been observed that Trump’s leadership concerning the wall against the Mexican border display certain Machiavellian and charismatic leadership attributes. The results indicate that the most frequently displayed attributes in Trump’s political leadership regarding the wall is that he uses authoritarian and confident arguments to a higher extent than narcissistic and controversial arguments to justify his proposition of a US-Mexican border wall.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to get a deeper understanding of what motivates older adults to use and learn information and communication technology (ICT). This has been investigated with qualitative interviews with older adults who use ICT. During the interviews the participants were allowed to share their experiences and thoughts about what motivates them to use and learn ICT. 

    The result of the study shows that older adults are motivated by various reasons to use and learn ICT. In order for them to be motivated to even start using new ICT services or units, they need to be introduced to it and after that a need can be created. This means that ICT must be useful and older adults need to understand the benefits and advantages of using it in order to even want to learn it. Important factors that older adults experience when learning new ICT are clear instructions, repetition, that they should be able to try for themselves, and that the learning session shouldn’t go too fast. The social environment around our informants has also proven to be an important factor in learning ICT.

    Abstract [en]

    Background According to the Swedish law "skollagen" the school shall encourage all children’s development and strive to mitigate differences in pupils individual conditions to utilize their education. The role of the school nurse is to proactively prevent illness amongst the pupils. With some girls, absence is high in physical exercises and their presence in other activities that aim for increased health is limited. This absence affects these pupils’ ratings and limits their chances of having physical activities, but it also reduces their possibilities to interact in social activities within and outside school.

    Aim The aim of this study was to describe school nurses’ approach to strengthen girls who are in a situation where their guardians restrict their participation in health promotive activities.

    Method This is a qualitative, descriptive study based on individual semi-structured interviews with nine school nurses. The transcribed interviews were subjected to qualitative content analysis.

    Results The school nurses had an active approach to create a mutual understanding between the girls, their guardians and the school. This was conducted by strengthening of democratic appraisals, finding new ways to reach girls and their guardians and finally building and widening the school nurses’ own competence in the situation.

    Conclusions: The studie shows that school nurses make use of the steering documents that exists within the school system in order to strengthen girls’ equality rights. A prerequisite for the school nurse to influence guardians and girls was to create a good relation for all of them. The school nurses were interested in understanding the family’s situation and their life experiences as well as inform about the core values of the school in order to create mutual understanding and build a foundation for further work based on each family’s situation. In the role of a school nurse it was not found viable to reach results only by informing the guardians and girls. Instead the school nurses tried to reach an open discussion with respect for both parties.

    Only through such a dialogue the school nurses argued that they could reach out and create the right conditions for a positive change to support the girls’ equality rights.

    Bakgrund:

    Enligt vår uppfattning påverkas barns lärande av pedagogers tankar och förhållningssätt till det skapande materialets tillgänglighet. Studien berör barns lärande kopplat till miljöns utformning och materialets placering. Vi har i vår undersökning, med hjälp av forskningsbakgrund och teoretiska utgångspunkter, diskuterat och analyserat nio pedagogers tankar om den skapande verksamheten.

    Syfte:

    Syftet med studien är att få ökad kunskap om det skapande materialets tillgänglighet och miljöns påverkan på barns lärande i förskolan.

    Metod:

    Vi har som metod utgått ifrån en kvalitativ intervju. Vi genomförde åtta intervjuer med nio pedagoger på olika förskolor. Under bearbetningen av intervjuerna valde vi att enskilt transkribera det empiriska materialet för att sedan tillsammans sammanställa ett resultat med hjälp av att kategorisera materialet.

    Resultat:

    I vårt resultat av studien ser vi att den skapande verksamheten är viktig för barns lärande och utveckling. Pedagogerna i vår undersökning lade vikt på att få in skapande i barnens vardag. Vi upplevde att samtliga pedagoger hade liknande tankar om materialets tillgänglighet och miljöns betydelse samt att det har en inverkan för barns lärande. Det fanns vissa skillnader mellan pedagogernas tankar om var materialet skulle stå, när barnen fick skapa och vem som fick skapa

    Bakgrund: Lärplattan är ett relativt nytt digitalt verktyg i förskolans verksamhet. Då lärplattan har tagit plats i förskolans vardag, är frågan hur den ska användas i praktiken. Föregångaren till lärplattan är datorn som förskolan använde sig av i praktiken, men samhället har förändrats och ny teknik har nu tagit plats i verksamheten. I den tidigare forskning som vi har tagit del av har vi funnit liknande resultat vad gäller datorer och lärplattor då användandet av dessa påverkas av pedagogen. Vidare belyser Skolverket (2016a) att förskolan kan använda multimedia i verksamheten, trots detta är det en omdebatterad fråga. Skolverket (2016b) har lagt fram ett förslag på förändring inom ämnet där barns digitala kompetens ska stärkas i förskolan. Studien belyser och problematiserar pedagogens förhållningssätt i samband med användandet av lärplattan, studien vill bidra till en djupare förståelse för hur lärplattan används i förskolan. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur pedagoger förhåller sig till och arbetar med lärplattan som arbetsredskap tillsammans med barnen på förskolan. Metod: Studien är av kvalitativ art där två fokusgruppsintervjuer har genomförts. Fokusgruppsintervjuerna har spelats in och transkriberats, därefter gjordes en textanalys av det insamlade materialet som ligger till grund för resultatet i vår studie. Resultat: Studiens resultat visar att ett lärande kan ske med hjälp av lärplattan. Där en närvarande pedagog kan vägleda och stötta barnen i användandet. Det förhållningssätt som pedagogen har är av betydelse för att ett lärande ska ske med hjälp av lärplattan. I studien har vi funnit hur pedagoger beskriver att lärplattan används i förskolans aktiviteter och de beskriver vidare hur den kan bidra till ökad kommunikation och variation i undervisningen. En negativ aspekt om förskolan inte använder lärplattan kan vara att det genererar digitala klyftor i samhället, vilket kan medföra att barnens demokratiska rättigheter förbises. Förskolan kan dock motverka dessa digitala klyftor genom att pedagogerna medvetet använder lärplattan, där alla barn får möjlighet att lära om och med de digitala verktygen.

    Abstract [en]

    The bachelor's thesis was carried out on behalf of Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Sweden AB in Trollhättan, manufacturer of hydraulic pumps and hydraulic motors. Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Sweden AB currently has difficulties in understanding how competitios work with social media. Therefore, the company wanted to conduct a competitor analysis to identify the gap between the companies. The purpose is to provide Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Sweden AB with an understanding of four selected competitors. The work started with information gathering to create knowledge about hydraulic motors and selected companies that make similar products. Observations of the companies' social media were made based on several parameters. Also, additional analysis tools have been used during the work, such as benchmarking and the marketing mix. The information resulted in similarities and differences that were identified, which is presented in chapter five. The marketing of Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Sweden AB's products takes place at the group level, which created problems with the work's boundaries. Difficulties in distinguishing the marketing changed the work of hydraulics piston engines to a general survey. Furthermore, strengths and weaknesses are investigated with companies' marketing on social media. The writers' views on Parker Hannifin Corporation's real competitors are discussed. The chapter Analysis and Discussion conclude with an account of three suggestions for improvement: • Create pages on social media for marketing products made in Trollhättan. • Create a Facebook group for products manufactured in Trollhättan that are linked to the Group's Facebook page. • Investigate what the customer has for expectations on the company's social media platforms. In summary, specific marketing for products manufacture by Parker in Trollhättan is difficult to identify. Furthermore, it was found that Parker Hannifin Corporation, from a marketing standpoint, mimics the competitors Bosch Rexroth AG and Danfoss Power Solutions AB. The report is an introduction to understanding the competitors and the work should continue with further development of the competitor analysis.

    Fritidslärarens uppdrag finns tydligt beskrivet i styrdokument avseende den tid de arbetar i fritidshemmet men hur tiden ska disponeras under skoltid är inte lika självklart. Då vi upplevde att det fanns en stor variation i fritidslärarnas uppgifter valde vi att undersöka vad olika fritidslärare har för uppgifter och ansvar under skoltiden. Syftet med den här studien var att ta reda på hur de rekontextualiserar (tolkar) sitt uppdrag och hur de använder sig av fritidspedagogiken i sin undervisning men även vad som förhindrar och möjliggör deras arbete.

    Våra forskningsfrågor blev följande: Hur kan undervisning i skolan ske med hjälp av fritidspedagogik enligt fritidslärare? Vilket handlingsutrymme ges fritidslärare i skolans undervisning enligt fritidslärarna själva?

    Studien baseras på en kvalitativ metod bestående av intervjuer och enkäter där vi undersökt fritidslärares uppfattningar om vårt forskningsområde. Vi har utgått från ett kunskapssociologiskt perspektiv med Bernsteins pedagogiska teori som grund för vår analys.

    Resultatet visar på att fritidslärarna tolkar sitt uppdrag ur ett fritidspedagogiskt perspektiv där elevernas intressen och behov styr hur undervisningen ska läggas upp och där gruppen och det sociala samspelet står i centrum. Fritidslärarna tolkar fritidspedagogik som ett mer praktiskt arbetssätt som kan användas som ett bra komplement till den traditionella skolundervisningen. Det framkommer dock att fritidslärarna upplever att deras kompetens inte tas till vara på i den utsträckningen de önskar, då de ofta används som resurser och assistenter utan möjlighet att ansvara och planera sin egen undervisning. Det är rektorn som bestämmer var resurserna ska läggas vilket betyder att det är hen som har makten över hur fritidslärarens tid ska disponeras under skoltid.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of the study is to achieve an increased understanding of the school counselors' experiences of practical and theoretical knowledge in conversations with students.

    To answer the purpose, the following questions have been used: What experience does the school counselors have of theoretical and practical knowledge in conversations with students? Do the school counselors experience that any other form of knowledge emerges, than the theoretical and practical knowledge, in conversations with students? The study is based on a qualitative method and is inspired by a phenomenological research approach. In other words, we have not investigated the phenomenon, but the school counselors experiences of the phenomenon. The data collection method used for the study is semi-structured interviews. The material has been analyzed using a phenomenological analysis method.

    The result of the study shows that school counselors experience both practical and theoretical knowledge as significant in conversations with students. The school counselors' experiences of what the forms of knowledge mean and how they are used in conversations with students differ, but the common denominator of their experiences is that one cannot exclude the other. During the work on the study, another form of knowledge emerged that was considered for the school counselors as at least as important as the practical and theoretical knowledge. This knowledge is referred to as interpersonal knowledge, of which the school counselors' experiences of this form of knowledge are also separated here. Interpersonal knowledge is described both as a personality-based knowledge and as a tacit knowledge. The school counselors also experienced that an empathic approach and their intuition affects the conversation with the students.

    Abstract [en]

    Background Nightingale attention that hygiene was an important task to prevent health- related infection. Today there are guidelines how hand hygiene should be followed, to prevent health- related infection. Good knowledge and education in hand hygiene and its consequences if it’s not followed is of great importance. Hand hygiene should be performed before and after the clean and the unclean work with patients and materials. Health- related infection is an infection which can affect both employees and patients as a result of care, regardless of care service. Good compliance is when hand hygiene is carried out at an appropriate time, but several studies show that this is not followed. Aim The aim with the study was to describe nurse’s knowledge and compliance to hand hygiene. Method A literature review was used to analyze scientific articles related to the topic. Results The result showed that knowledge and education was an important factor to retain compliance to hand hygiene. Hand hygiene was performed as a routine, but this could be lacking when nurses where interrupted in their working moment. Another reason why hand hygiene was not performed was that some nurses experienced skin irritation as a result. Nurses used soap and water instead of hand disinfection. Compliance was better after than before patient contact. Conclusion The authors have noted that after the hygiene education increases compliance to hand hygiene. Regular education is seen as an important part to create and maintain procedures for hand hygiene.

    Bakgrund: De senaste åren har en ökande invandring till Sverige haft en betydande inverkan på det svenska samhället, något som har lett till en ökning av antalet personer som talar flera språk och som har andra modersmål än svenska. Detta har i sin tur påverkat skolor som har förändrats, med klassrum som blivit heterogena och är fulla av olika språk, kulturer och bakgrunder. Detta innebär många svårigheter för nyanlända elever, samt utmaningar för skolorna och lärarna. En stor utmaning för lärarna är att undervisa i engelska till de nyanlända eleverna samtidigt som dessa elever får lära sig svenska som undervisningsspråk. Det är detta som också skapar svårigheter av speciell karaktär för dessa elever. Denna studie syftar till att belysa dessa svårigheter och utmaningar.

    Syfte: Denna studie syftar till att belysa de språksvårigheter som nyanlända elever möter när de lär sig engelska och de utmaningar som lärare står inför när de undervisar nyanlända elever i engelska. Studien kommer också att lyfta fram de arbetssätt som lärare använder för att främja nyanlända elevers lärande.

    Metod: Denna studie är kvalitativ, och data har samlats in genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer med fyra erfarna engelsklärare som undervisar på högstadiet och en grupp elever i årskurs nio som nyligen kommit till Sverige. Intervjuerna har genomförts på deltagarnas arbetsplatser. En intervjuguide användes för samtliga intervjuer. Dessa transkriberades sedan och svaren tematiserades.

    Resultat: Studiens resultat visade att elevernas svårigheter utmanar lärarna. Eleverna har svårt att lära sig två språk tillsammans, vilket hindrar dem från att uppnå ett bra resultat, särskilt de som inte har tidigare kunskaper i engelska. Att anpassa undervisningen till elevernas olika behov är också en utmaning för lärarna, i synnerhet som de upplever en brist på tid utöver bristen på resurser och utbildning för att undervisa nyanlända elever. Flera metoder används för att anpassa undervisningen till elevernas behov, varav en är metoden ”parallell läggning”.

    Syftet med denna studie är att med hjälp av en kvalitativ datainsamling undersöka lärares åsikter samt uppfattningar av att tillämpa Virtual Reality och Augmented Reality i utbildningen. För att besvara studiens frågeställningar har empiri samlats in med hjälp av semistruktureradeintervjuer tillsammans med fem lärare från olika skolor i Sverige. Studiens diskussion har haft sin utgångspunkt i tidigare forskning som undersökt tillämpningen av Virtual Reality och Augmented Reality. Utifrån det resultat av de intervjuer som bedrevs med lärarna gick det att hitta ett antal gemensamma och återkommande teman i lärarnas åsikter och uppfattningar om Virtual Reality och Augmented Reality som ett hjälpmedel inom pedagogiken. Resultat visar att lärarna generellt sett är positivt inställda gentemot en framtid där Virtual Reality och Augmented Reality är ett vanligt inslag i pedagogiken, men de menar ändå på att det finns ett antal hinder som måste övervinnas för att nå denna verklighet.

    Abstract [en]

    This project is being implemented in cooperation with TYRI Light Company, the company is serving many industrial sectors such as construction, mining, forestry, and transportation. The goal of this project is to provide a simulation of the automatic assembly station for as part of assembly line which assemble a product named 0909 compact lighting. Currently, with semi-automated production line, the average of production is 800 lights per a day (8 work hours), and three glue robots are utilized but componentsare manually assembled and fed. The emphasis will be on automating assembly and feeding as well as developing a mechanical design and a new glue dispenser. the validation and testing of all concepts will be in simulation environment. The fundamental idea behind this approach is flexibility, where just a little adjustment is needed whenever a new variable is added to the assembly line. After validating all the concepts, it turned out that the most suitable robot is articulated IBR 140T, and the mechanical tool with the distribution tool gave promising results, and the feeding system needs a lot of experiments, and it turned out that it is difficult to reduce the cycle time of a full assembly to one minute. But in order to benefit from the proposed solutions, the solution must be generalized to include the rest of the stations, allowing to reduce labour.

    Abstract [en]

    Well-being in the society and improvement of people's life standards are linked to sustainable development in society. Stimulation of the individual's learning, competencies and career development contributes to community development and hence promotion of the sustainable development of our society in the future. Therefore it is of great importance to discuss different learning concepts and developing theories of learning and work integrated learning (WIL).University West vision is a work integrated learning, as approach and method. Discussion and debate about what WIL is and how it should be applied in education and courses is going on constantly on the university and has largely been made since the university was founded. On the syllabuses of different courses on basic and advanced level, stats that the work integrated learning elements should be mentioned. On the guidelines presents examples of what WIL-element can be, leaves to those who plans the courses to identify what such a moment can be. My view is that; as definition and identification of such moments are, left to every employee, there is an uncertainty in what WIL-element actually is. Different disciplines can define the concept differently and thereby the uncertainty is high about what really WIL-elements can be. That is why, I believe it is of great importance to discuss what WIL is?.Purpose of the study is to identify what the colleges at university west, consider to be WIL-elements and how it is applied in practice in courses. The study's purpose is also to contribute to the theoretical development of WIL and theories of learning.Part one is introduction. Part two deals with description of WIL, theoretical foundations for the study. Work-integrated learning has been defined differently and in different ways. But what is common is the combination of theory and practice or academia and work/workplace.In part three discusses approach and survey's design and empirical presentation. In part four presents some facts from reality, ie, empirical facts. Part five is about discussion and conclusions. When discussing WIL, often is focus and emphases is primarily on the workplace and experiential learning. While on University West, is focus on theoretical learning in the first place, not on the workplace. The focus is on the learning that happens at the university and how it should be linked to practice and workplace. This means that the starting point is from the opposite side. Another aspect is that, the perception of WIL, is vague and not precise.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this paper is description and understanding of the individual career development (as entrepreneur or employee) as a dynamical process. I have studied the interaction and cooperation between different formal (politics) and informal (culture) institutions and their impacts on the individual's carrier development process (as entrepreneur as well as employee) during three different stages, i.e. socialization processes, opportunity identification processes, and finally career formation and development processes. Research methodology is qualitative i.e. case study, and consists of several cases. Study is based on twenty interviews at the two municipalities (10 from each one – four unemployed, three employed and three businessmen/entrepreneurs) and observation of municipalities at the west Sweden so called "Västra götalands Regionen". Individual's career development from two municipalities are compared with each other. Different categories (employed, unemployed and businessmen)are compared and differences in influences of institutions on different categories in two municipalities are identified and described. Study shows that both formal and informal institutions affect individual's career development process during three stages, i.e. socialization processes, career identification/creation processes, and finally career formation's development process. In other words, survey shows that, Politics and culture affects individual's career development and thereby regional development. Theoretical contributions are: results of this study can contribute to different understanding of entrepreneurship, employment and unemployment. It widens theoretical views of the subject, by understanding the role institutions can play at the individual's career development processes. 230 Practical contributions are: results can be used in individual career development by job centers and for planning and avoiding or facing future unemployment. It can also be used in companies and other workplaces planning and construction or formation of employee´s career development.

    Abstract [en]

    Turbulent gas-liquid multiphase flows with and without phase change in a vertical wavy channel are addressed. The multiphase flow field is resolved using the volume of fluid method (VOF), and the flow equations are discretized and numerically solved by the well-known finite volume method. As a multiphase system without mass transfer, air/water flow is considered. It is shown that numerical simulation is well capable of predicting the various multiphase flow regimes ranging from slug to bubbly flows inside wavy channels. Moreover, accurate predictions of overall pressure drop are provided by numerical solutions for various air and water flow rates and the phase shift angle between wavy channel walls. Additionally, condensing flows of refrigerant R134a are simulated inside wavy channels. It is found that for almost all the cases considered in the present study, the convective heat transfer coefficient is higher in wavy channels in respect to straight channels. However, a significant pressure drop penalty is observed especially for high mass fluxes across wavy channels. Therefore, the use of the wavy channels for the enhancement of condensing heat transfer is only advisable for low mass fluxes with the phase shift angle of 180°. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

    Since the birth of the internet, new advanced technologies have emerged that have affected how people live, work and interact with each other as well as the human view of the world. This has become the basis of the today’s information society. Today's information society is dependent on information and the threat to this information society has increased with the pace of digitalization. In order to prevent the attacks directed to the information society, information security has been developed, which is the core of how to protect society, both businesses and individuals. Businesses, authorities and other societal actors carry out security analyzes to find vulnerabilities that exist in their systems to prevent attacks at an early stage so that attackers are not given the opportunity to exploit the vulnerabilities that exist in the system.This thesis is about a security analysis carried out on a network called the CNAP network at a university. The purpose of this project is to identify network devices that the CNAP network consists, identify security threats directed to these networks, identify vulnerabilities using a vulnerability-scanning tool called Nessus and based on the identified vulnerabilities, make some suggestions on how these vulnerabilities can be counteracted. 194 network devices and 726 open ports have been identified using NetworkMapper (Nmap). Based on these network devices and open ports, various types of security threats have been identified such as open ports that should not be open and vulnerabilities such as Cisco Smart Install Remote Code Execution and Denial of Service Vulnerability. Improvements and countermeasures to these security threats and vulnerabilities have been suggested, such as upgrading the network devices to the latest version and disabling the open ports and services that are not used or pose a security threat to the system.

    Abstract [en]

    Sansera Sweden AB produces connecting rods for diesel engines and other industrial applications. It is a part of the engine, turbine and power transmission equipment manufacturing industry. The company utilizes the IT system MaintMaster and was looking into digitize the methods used for information handling within their branch in Trollhättan. Moreover, they wanted to identify the measures that can prevent unexpected stops within their production line. The current study was conducted with the aim of further developing Sansera's maintenance system MaintMaster by digitizing instructions and checklists. The aim was to introduce digital work instructions that could be presented with smart technologies. This development would simplify the work of the operators and maintenance staff and expand the practice of the system to support preventive maintenance. To identify the cause of unexpected stops, the data were collected through interviews and observations. The interviews identified four cases that formed the basis for the results. Based on the data collection, it could be noticed that the preventive maintenance measures that were carried out did not include an efficient follow-up task.

    Daily supervision controls were not documented anywhere, and weekly supervision was documented by paper. Deviations could therefore not be controlled or tracked in an appropriate way, which eliminated an advantageous follow-up measure. Within the current degree project, the company's supervisory controls were digitized and based on the digital checklists, an overview portal was developed for the responsible operator to check and track deviations that are identified. To further support the preventive maintenance, instructions were digitized by developing an interface that is easily accessible. This was done due to instructions were only available via paper lists in binders. To streamline the work of operators, a digital 5S inspection was developed where each shift is to be granted that the workplace is left in a way that facilitates the work of upcoming work shifts. Furthermore, the availability of the component sheet used for tool changes was also streamlined. Tool changes is a recurring process that the operators perform every shift, when performing tool changes there is a need for a document with article number for all spare parts that the operator needs. The observations showed a low availability of documents, which led to non-value-creating time in the form of time waste. The documents for the tool changes were digitized and linked to QR-codes, which meant that operators only needed to go to the spare parts collection cabinet and scan a QR-code to gain access to the item numbers.

    Bad oral health amongst elderly is very common. Diseases have a bad effect on oral health. Not caring for elderly person's oral health affects the ability to speak, eat and smile. Tooth ache,caries, gingivitis, and fungus are a few diseases that can occur due to bad oral health. The patient's suffering is something that can be prevented. Nurses have a responsibility to improve oral health amongst elderly. Therefore, it's a subject that needs to be lifted. The aim of this literature study was to describe nurses' experience of completed oral care within elderly care.

    The chosen method was a literature review with eight qualitative articles that had been reviewed with a quality template. Two main themes and five sub themes emerged. The two main themes were obstacles in nursing and strategies for improvement. The five sub themes were lack of knowledge, lack of time, lack of encounter, interprofessional collaboration and support from management. The care staff prioritized other tasks before oral care because oral care was a task that demanded time, knowledge, and experience. Increased knowledge and understanding of good oral health need to be highlighted because oral health is linked to general health.

    Abstract [en]

    In connection to an existing research project, Micro-migration and Integration with relevance for Uddevalla, this study aims to analyse and compare the subjective understandings of Somali women’s experiences in the integration process in the Swedish society. Integration is a multifaceted and ongoing process in which the self-understandings of this notion is bound to change over time in relation to socio-economic and cultural contexts. In light of this, the thesis employs a comparative case study that is based on data collected through focus group discussions with newly arrived women and women who have stayed in Sweden for a longer time. The analytical framework utilizes acculturation theory to study what traces of integration, assimilation, separation and marginalization can be identified in the selfunderstandings and how they develop over time. Some of the conclusions from the study by the interviewees notify language being crucial. Both groups understand that Swedish constitutes a step in the overall process for establishment and the newly arrived women showed an awareness about it being the ultimate factor that can speed up their own integration process. The findings of the research include that there is a deviation of the understandings between the groups when it comes to housing and identity. The group of newly arrived women with the exception of one participant, indicated a clear separation in regard to both aspects above whereas the women who have lived in Sweden for 9-10 years showed clear traces of integration. Hence, in the beginning of the integration process a person might have a theoretical understanding that indicates separation but experience a discursive shift towards the lens of integration.

    Abstract [en]

    This project was conducted on behalf of PTC, Production Technical Centrum for Sciences, with a focus on exploring the electropolishing of PH13-8, a specific alloy of stainless steel developed by AK Steel Corporation in 1989. The objective was to identify process parameters for optimal electropolishing. Utilizing the Gamry Reference 3000 potentiostat and the Framework program, electropolishing was carried out through 'Potentiostatic experiment'. The experiments were repeated over a hundred times with varying time intervals to assess potential outcomes. The process parameters, imported from the polarization experiments, were controlled either by 'Galvanostatic experiment' or 'Potentiostatic experiment', depending on the voltage regulation capacity of the Gamry potentiostat. Following electropolishing, meticulous steps of rinsing, drying, and visual as well as microscopic examination of the samples were conducted. The obtained results revealed distinct differences between various experiments, with some resulting in pronounced pitting corrosion, while in certain cases, pitting corrosion was completely eliminated. Optimal parameters for electropolishing PH13-8 were derived throughout the project duration.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life of patients who have life-threatening illnesses. When patients are diagnosed with serious illnesses, it is the intimate parties who are concerned about the patient's health. Intimate parties are the ones to provide care and therefore, they need social and emotional support from the nurses involved.

    Aim: To describe how intimate parties felt about nurses' support during palliative care.

    Method: A qualitative method was chosen as this was appropriate in addressing the aim of the study.

    Results: A literature based study was performed and ten empirical qualitative articles were analysed. The results were processed using the Friberg method of analysis. The result of this literature based study consists of two main categories of Emotional and Practical Support, as well as five subcategories. Intimate parties' sensations of being relieved and receiving tools that made it simpler to care for their loved ones were the focus of the practical help. Emotional support requires providing information as well as being present and supporting intimate parties after the patient has passed away.

    Discussion: A qualitative palliative care and sustained assistance for intimate parties before and after the death of the patient are dependent on intimate parties’ support

    Conclusions: During palliative care, it is crucial for the nurse to support the intimate parties. As a nurse, it is important to consider and respond to the needs of the intimate parties in order to provide them with the support they need in these hard times.

    Purpose and issues: The purpose of this study is to investigate how the COVID-19 pandemic has been framed by the Swedish newspapers. This analysis mainly focuses on the reporting of four (online) Swedish newspapers.

    Our chosen main question for this thesis is:How has COVID-19 been framed by Swedish newspapers during the first and second wave?

    Method and material: In this particular study we have gathered our empirical data from four Swedish newspapers from the internet. The data is going to be analysed with the help of critical content analysis and Entman’s four concepts. 

    Main results: This study will show a successful case of government communication around a pandemic and how when a government communicates clear answers to anxiety provoking questions, it can influence media coverage from a negative to a positive direction.

    Background: Children in a palliative stage must be cared for based on their individual needs. The nurse must have the ability to prevent suffering, treat the guardians and child with respect, compassion and be able to meet their needs. For the nurse to be able to give the best care, the four cornerstones in palliative care are a fitting guide. These being communication, supporting relatives, relieving symptoms and being able to work in teams.

    Aim: The aim of this study was to describe nurses' experiences of caring for children in a palliative stage.

    Method: This study was literature based on an inductive approach. Ten studies were analyzed using Friberg´s five steps.

    Results: After the analysis two new categories and six subcategories emerged. The main themes were the caring relationship between the child and the guardians and professional challenges in palliative care of children. The nurses perceived the importance of being able to communicate with the guardians and child, as well as being able to cope with their own emotions. Several nurses expressed lack of education.

    Conclusion: The nurses experience shows that they have a tough job with different challenges and tasks. The work is giving but straining and changes need to be made to make it sustainable for the nurses. Better conditions are needed, for example increased education in communication. With the right support, education and coping strategies the ability to provide the right care for the child and guardians is possible

    Abstract [en]

    Due to toughened CO2 emission standards the automotive industry is approaching a transition to zero-emission mobility. An accurate estimation of the stator temperature is an essential part of the motor controls and to protect the electric motor from overheating. An inaccurate estimation leads to bigger margins between estimated value and actual value to protect the electric motor which affects the performance. A literature study was performed which presented different methods that has been used in previous work to estimate parameters of an electric machine. The purpose of this master thesis is to find a suitable method and develop a temperature observer to estimate the stator winding temperature based on a resistance observer.In the development work three different methods were tested on a single-phase electric machine for the sake of simplicity. First method assuming steady state condition, second was the Forward Euler and third zero-order hold. The results showed that the zero-order hold method using a recursive least-square (RLS) optimization was performing the best in the higher frequencies but in the lower range the steady state RLS method was better which was also the method that was used on a three-phase electric motor model from a Nissan Leaf.The sensitivity analysis showed that the estimate of the stator resistance is sensitive to errors on the input variables and that the errors are highest in the mid-torque range and in the lower part of the speed range. The error on the input variables was arbitrarily chosen of +3 % and was added separately on the inductances and voltages of the d- and q-axis 𝐿𝑑, 𝐿𝑞, 𝑣𝑑, 𝑣𝑞, the rotor speed 𝜔 and the flux-linkage 𝜑. The variable that was affecting the resistance estimation the most was when a fault of 3% was introduced on the rotor speed 𝜔 which gave an error of more than -1200% on the estimated resistance. In nominal conditions, i.e. room temperature and constant stator temperature, the results showed an accurate resistance estimation of -0.4 – 1.4 % followed by an accurate temperature estimation

    Background: 1,3 billion people in the world suffer from hypertension, and it is considered a leading global risk factor for death and disability. Patients who are diagnosed with this condition are recommended to undergo lifestyle changes to reduce the incidence of secondary diseases.

    Aim: The aim of this study was to describe patients experience of lifestyle changes to promote health in hypertension.

    Method: An analysis method with a foundation in qualitative research was used to contibrute to evidence-based nursing. The authors utilized Friberg’s methodology of qualitative studies. This litterature-based study incorporates 10 qualitative articles.

    Results: This study found that patients encounter diverse barriers and factors in their experiences with lifestyle changes, Two themes emerged; 1: ‘Insight into the complexity of lifestyle changes’. Subthemes that emerged in this theme was; ‘Barriers and challenges’, and ‘Social and psykosocial factors’. 2: ‘Breaking old patterns and navigating through challenges’. Subthemes was; ‘Motivation’, Strategies and insights’, and ‘Finding support in one’s enviroment’.

    Conclusion:It is crucial for nurses to possess the necessary competence to structure person- centered lifestyle changes in consultation with patients and their specific conditions. Increased knowledge and education on this subject would likely enhance patients health, preserve their dignity and have a preventive effect against further complications

    Studien har genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer studerat studiehandledares upplevelser av hur studiehandledning kan påverka nyanlända elevers lärande samt beskriva vilka framgångsfaktorer som kan finnas vid studiehandledning. En fenomenologiskt hermeneutisk ansats har tagits eftersom studien bygger på analyser och tolkningar av studiehandledares egna upplevelser av studiehandledning. I studien intervjuades fyra studiehandledare som arbetar i årskurs 1–6. Då intervjuerna transkriberats analyserades de och därefter gjordes en kategorisering av olika teman som utgjorde grunden för resultatets presentation. I resultatet presenteras informanternas tankar om vilka förutsättningar som finns för studiehandledledning samt hur de ser på studiehandledarens roll. Det som framkommer är bland annat att samarbete mellan studiehandledare och lärare är mycket viktigt. Även att elevens behov måste styra planering och organisation är något som studiehandledarna betonar i intervjuerna. Studiehandledarna betonar också vikten av det sociala stöd som de kan ge för att stötta de nyanlända eleverna i deras lärande.

    Abstract [en]

    The coordinated planning procedure regulates how consultation, announcement and review can be simplified and coordinated with a case that is examined according to the Road Act or the Rail Construction Act. A coordinated planning procedure was introduced in the Planning and Building Act on 1 January 2015. Previously, the procedure has been regulated as a simple procedure. The simple procedure was introduced in the new Planning and Building Act in 2011 after investigations and preparatory work found that a simpler planning process is needed to streamline construction and speed up social development. The opportunity for simplification should also help to avoid double work and double testing. In order to apply the procedure, certain requirements are set. If the requirements are met, the municipality can skip consultations and, in some cases, also use the environmental impact assessment that is produced in the road or railways plan. When amending the Road Act and the Railway Construction Act in 2013, the corresponding simplification and coordination provisions were also introduced in these. However, the study shows that the Swedish Transport Administration cannot simplify the consultation in the same way as the municipalities and that it is difficult for the Swedish Transport Administration to make use of an environmental impact assessment that has been produced by the municipality. The study is based on answers from surveys sent out to municipalities and the Swedish Transport Administration as well as interviews. The answers from the surveys show that the knowledge of the procedure is very low both at the municipality and at the Swedish Transport Administration. A few respondents indicate that they have used the procedure and have different views on the advantages and disadvantages of the procedure. From the study we have found that coordinated planning is difficult to apply, which means that it is rarely used. The study shows that more general coordination is used as the parties see advantages in sharing investigations and in some cases also trying to hold joint consultations in order to increase public understanding and avoid double messages. It can be stated that the municipal planning process and the planning process for state infrastructure differ both in process and time, which is the main reason why coordinated planning procedure sounds nice but is difficult to apply.

    Background: Each year there are thousands of children abused in Sweden. This can result in lifelong consequences not only for the children, but also for the society. Verified statistics show an increasing number of child abuse in Sweden in recent years. As per Swedish law, nurses are required to report child abuse, but despite the law requirement the studies indicated that reporting is not always done.

    Aim: The aim of this study was to describe nurses' experiences of reporting a suspected child abuse to social services.

    Method: A method to contribute to evidence-based nursing based on analysis of qualitative research was performed to deepen understanding. An analysis of eight qualitative research articles was carried out. The analysis resulted in four main categories and nine sub categories.

    Results: The main categories were: Worksite factors, barriers for not reporting, personal factors caused by the nurse, lack of or poor functioning cooperation with social services.

    Conclusion: This study indicates, that nurses need experience, training, support and information and also clear guidelines and feedback from social services.

    Background:

    In the communication with children it is important to take in consideration the child´s age, maturity and willingness to take an active part in the process of communication. The nurse should have a positive approach to the child and it's next to kin. On the other hand, if the nurse has a negative approach and is unable or unwilling to show empathy or understanding, the cooperation with the child will not be efficient. Children can find the hospital environment scary, threatening but also exciting. Regardless, the child has a need of adult company and support. The aim of the study is to emphasize the importance of communication in the caring relation between the nurse and the child and their next of kin. The method used is a study based on nine, qualitative studies published in scientific publications. The result of the study: A nurse should consider four categories in communication with children; to create a sense of security and trust by chatting, to give the child an opportunity to participate in communication, to make the child involved by use of play and laughter and to use clear, trustworthy communication. Conclusion: Good communication is critical in the care of children and their next of kin in giving a good experience of hospital care. This should every nurse be aware of in the meeting with children and their next of kin.

    Every Network operator strives to have as few and short outages as possible. Network operators therefore work continuously to convert the overhead lines to cables. Therefore, there is a need to gather knowledge about outages on cables and look into methods to decrease the outage time. There are laws and guidelines that need to be taken in consideration that limit the allowed maximum outage time and that is why backup generators could be a method to prevent breaking them.

    Problems that can arise regarding cable outages are to locate the flaw. Visual troubleshooting is often not a viable option which requires that the prerequisites are good enough to be able to use other fault detection methods. Factors that could affect the possibilities to use other measurement methods are the length, number of joints and the surrounding environment of the cable.

    Backup generators are most commonly used for maintenance and to reduce the outage time. The generators are mainly connected at the low voltage busbars but with additional equipment as portable transformers it can also be connected to the high voltage busbars.

    The result of the work performed shows that there are different factors that affect the outage time and frequency. One contributing factor that leads to increased outage time is the length of the cable. It may be due to difficulties to locate the flaw or that the cable pass inaccessibility areas increases when the length of the cable increases. During the winter period the average outage time is longer as compared with summertime, but during the summertime the outage frequency is higher.

    Vattenfall have backup generators, portable transformers and diesel containers available for booking on the internal website. The most common time before a backup generator is connected is between three and four hours. By using backup generators, it would be possible to reduce the outage time on about 100 outages during the analyzed time period. The potential decrease of SAIDI by using backup generators has not been able to be calculated because of lack of data.

    Available data is based on what is documented and there have probably been more situations when backup generators have been used but not been documented. With access to higher quality documentation the analyzes could be done more accurate.

    Inledning: Det finns relativt lite forskat kring ämnet om hur ridsport påverkar människor och speciellt hur den påverkar människor som är fysiskt och psykiskt friska. Utifrån det väcktes ett intresse i att undersöka hur en grupp unga kvinnor upplever sig påverkas av ridsporten utifrån ett salutogent perspektiv.  Syfte:  Syftet med föreliggande studie är att utifrån unga kvinnors perspektiv studera och analysera hur de påverkas och upplever sig utvecklas av att hålla på med ridsport samt se till vilken betydelse hästen har för dem. Vidare kommer deras upplevelser förstås utifrån begreppet känsla av sammanhang (KASAM).   Metod:  I föreliggande studie valdes kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer utifrån att de ansågs kunna svara på syftet och forskningsfrågorna på bästa sätt. Intervjuerna spelades in och materialet har transkriberats för att senare kodas, tematiserats och summerats. Ett bekvämlighetsurval samt målinriktat urval användes och det genomfördes fyra stycken intressanta intervjuer med personer som har erfarenhet av att vara eller är aktiva inom ridsporten. Resultat:   Resultatet visar att ridsporten bidrar till en mängd positiva faktorer. Bland annat blir personerna lyckliga av att vara i stallet, de utvecklar personliga färdigheter i form av ansvarsförmågor, ledarskapsförmågor och ökat självförtroende. Det finns en stor gemenskap och hästen har en betydelsefull roll. Sett utifrån känsla av sammanhang bidrar ridsporten till känsla av meningsfullhet, hanterbarhet och begriplighet. Deras upplevelser av ridsporten kan förklaras utifrån KASAM-begreppet och de bidrar följaktligen till en ökad hälsa.

    The thesis evaluates both the business and financial performance of Arctic Paper Munkedals AB. The company was founded in 1817 and is located in Munkedal, Sweden. The evaluation was achieved through ratio analysis of the annual reports of Arctic Paper Munkedals AB over a five-year period and business performance analysis using the balanced scorecard model. The data collections are from the annual financial reports for five years before the 2008 recession. Different financial ratios were evaluated such as short-term liquidity ratios, leverage ratios, profitability ratios, asset utilization and capital market ratios. The mathematical calculations were established for ratio analysis from 2003-2007 along with graphical analysis and comparisons. According to Altman (The Journal of Finance, 1968), observed evidence for five years prior to failure was cited as conclusive that ratio analysis can be useful in the prediction of failure. The research paper also analyzes the business performance of Arctic Paper Munkedals AB using the balanced scorecard model. This model is a customer-based planning and process improvement system, with its primary focus on driving an organization's change process by identifying and evaluating pertinent performance measures. It complements the traditional financial perspective with other non­financial perspectives such as customer satisfaction, internal business process as well as learning and growth. The balanced set of performance measures tells a concise yet complete story about the achievement and performance of the organization toward its mission and goals. It provides a holistic view of what is happening in the organization.

    Examining the meaning of work in relation to identity, this chapter looks at literary renditions of jobs in academia, especially in the campus novel. Departing from John Williams’ Stoner (1965), the analysis situates the academic novel in a historical and cultural context where the idea that scholarly labour increases self-worth and dignity is under increasing pressure. Further, the theme of work-life dignity is expanded to a wider discussion of the borders and frontiers of the university, particularly of the humanities, in terms of value, usefulness, and productivity. To fully draw out the implications of the analysis, Stoner is read in relation to a range of academic novels that each conspicuously negotiates work, identity, and dignity, including Willa Cather’s The Professor’s House and J.M. Coetzee’s Disgrace.

    Genom att undersöka en gren inom animationen som framstår som en alltmer betydelsefull del av vår tids bildkultur bidrar ”Filmdockan” till den pågående, både livliga och spännande, processen inom forskningen kring animerade bilder. Bokens huvudämne är dockfilm, en filmgenre som kännetecknas av att ett animerat, personifierat och människoliknande föremål används som rollfigur inom ramen för en bildberättelse. Genom undersökningar och analys av de animerade filmernas genrekonventioner, estetik, berättar- och montagestrategier kan man även närma sig en förståelse av de historiska, ideologiska, teknologiska, och politiska klimaten och maktförhållandena vid tidpunkten för deras tillblivelse.

    Det första avsnittet ”Docka, begrepp och typer” diskuterar olika definitioner av ordet ”docka” som utgår ifrån dockornas ursprung, deras form och funktion, tekniska aspekter etc. I det här avsnittet ligger betoningen på den så kallade föreställande dockan som med hjälp av dockteaterns spelteknik, filmisk eller digital animation framställs som en särskild sorts ”skådespelare”. Avsnittet inkluderar ävenfrågeställningar som specifikt behandlar animationens art, stil och väsentlighet som bland annat diskussioner om genre, estetik, och representation.

    Det andra avsnittet ”Historiskt panorama” gör en kronologisk genomgång av både de viktigaste estetiska tendenserna och några av de mest framstående människorna bakom historien om den animerade dockan. Den föreställande dockan är i regel en kulturell symbios – resultatet av mellanfolkliga blandningar. Dockfilmens estetik, teknik, motivkretsar, genrekonventioner och hybridiseringar förflyttar sig över tiden och i geografin via internationella kontakter och relationer mellan olika film- och kulturkretsar.

    Det tredje avsnittet ”Dockan på den digitala scenen” framstår som en kort promenad genom historien om digital animation. Flera av pionjärerna inom filmanimation i början av 1900-talet inspirerades av estetiken inom dockteatern i det då nya filmmediet. På samma sätt använde man i slutet av 1980-talet, när den ”digitaliserade dockan” trädde fram, datorer för att skapa en framställningsmodell som i grund och botten har sitt ursprung i teater- och filmanimering.

    Ämnet för det avslutande avsnittet ”Visuellt berättande och dockfilm” är alltså berättandet inom animerad film, och framförallt dess dockfilmsgenre. Animationsberättelsen (animerad film) består av filmspråk som grund med animationsspecifika och uttrycksfulla element som dess överbyggnad. Berättandet är även en viktig koppling mellan dockfilmer som stöds av filmisk respektive digital teknik. På det här viset är dockfilmen tydligt definierad i förhållande till berättelsen i allmänhet
