    Abstract [en]

    The study has its starting point in two articles in the daily press, one debate article and one reply, about the security guards work at the pub. The debaters in the article said that the insecurity in the nightlife depends on the security guards abusing their power discriminating and committing violence against the guests at the pub. A security guard replicated on the article and said that the insecurity in the pub is not created by the security guards but by the pub owner with his staff. There is a conflict of interest between the security guard's assignment and the pub owner who pays the guard's salary. The owner of the pub would like to have influence over the work of the security guards, otherwise he /she may lose his /her work. In the reply, it is proposed that the solution to the conflict of interest is that the security guards become employees and receive a salary from the police authority. The contents of the security guard's reply to the debate article caught my interest in this study.

    The aim of the study is to gain increased knowledge and understanding of how the conditions are for the work of the security guards, in a pub environment, based on three issues. 

    • How do the guards experience their profession and mission?

    • How do the security guards handle the conflict of interest between the principal police authority and the owner of the pub?

    • How do the security guards reason to be state employees and receive salaries from the police authority? 

    The theoretical perspective of the study consists of Rational Choice theory (RC), Georg Simmel's theory of triads and Pierre Bourdieu's concept of habitus. To answer the questions, qualitative method was chosen with interview. Five security guards were interviewed through semi-structured interview method. The interviews were printed and analyzed by thematic analysis. The themes that appear in the study are the professional role of the security guards, conflict of interest, form of employment and improvement area.

    The study's results show that the security guards watch their professional role as an important service function at the pub where good reception of the guests is in focus. The described conflict of interest was known by the interviewed guards, but they judged that it was caused by security guards who were unsuitable and who did not stand up for their profession and assignments. All security guards did not want to be employed and receive salaries from the police authority, but argued that security guards would only be employed by security companies and not directly by the owner of the pub.

    Tidigare forskning visar att HBTQ-personer uppfattar stress och lider av psykisk ohälsa i samband med komma ut-processen. Syftet med studien är att utforska hur HBTQ- personer uppfattar förväntningar i komma utprocessen och undersöka vilka effekter dessa förväntningar har på komma utprocessen. Studien är kvalitativ och genomförd via semistrukturerade intervjuer och studiens urval är 6 homo- och bisexuella personer i varierande åldrar från 18 år. Studiens empiri analyseras via av en kvalitativ analysmetod. Tidigare forskning och empiri från intervjuer ligger till grund för resultat och analys. Studiens resultat visar på att det bland intervjupersonerna inte finns några mönster på hur förväntningarna uppfattas i komma ut-processen. Resultatet visar att intervjupersonerna uppfattar både tilldragande och frånskjutande faktorer som försvårar och möjliggör komma utprocessen. Trygga miljöer, positiv respons och normalisering av intervjupersonernas egna sexuella läggning möjliggör komma ut processen. Rädsla, oro och utsatthet är faktorer som försvårar. Resultatet visar också att stigmatisering, heteronormer och sammanhang problematiserar komma utprocessen. Behovet för intervjupersonerna att komma ut påverkas av sammanhang, normer och attityder. Intervjupersonerna uttrycker både negativa och positiva uppfattningar om förväntningar i samband med att komma ut.

    Abstract [en]

    Men has dominated the labour markets management positions through the history and formed the qualities of leadership. The leadership is linked to agentic attributes that are considered "male". How women deal with a manager role has mostly been studied in male- dominated environments where women are deviants. There is a knowledge gap in the research regarding women’s ways of handling managerial positions in a female- dominated environment where the women is the norm. The aim of this study was to see how women managers in female- dominated places of work comment on male and female qualities in the manager role. The study has a qualitative approach where six semi- structured interviews with female managers in the public sector. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. The material is processed and analyzed by thematic analysis method which has been interpreted by social role theory and role congruity theory. The two theories are used to illuminate the differences that we believe is due to the social constructions of gender and the gender order witch also is used in the analysis. The respondents felt that they were respected as managers and expressed no conflict in the role, to be a woman and at the same time manager. They constituted the norm in social services where most around them were women. The majority of the managers did not feel that they needed to use some specific strategies to be taken seriously or get their voice heard. The women felt that they did not have specific expectations because they were women; they felt that their own expectations influenced them the most. All managers describe their leadership from both communal and agentic characteristics. They describe more communal characteristics as important in the manager role, which is far from the stereotypical agentic dominated manager role. It appears that they see management to be a balance between communal and agentic qualities but that communal characteristics emphasized most. The results reveal, however, some perceived differences between male and female managers conditions. The women have sometimes been regarded as inferior managers in recruitment and one of the managers who have more men around here, sometimes felt that men wanted to step in front and take over the leadership. One manager mentions strategies to get men to handle her straight communication. Several women described that they felt that men have it easier when it comes to being accepted into the managerial role and easier accepted in its authority. It also appears that some women find that they were expected to solve more problematic situations just because they were women

    Under 2016 ökade invandringen till Sverige till rekordsiffran 163 005 personer. I Sverige finns det en tvåårig introduktionsperiod, ibland benämnd integrationsperiod. För alla nyanlända flyktingar är varje kommun skyldig att erbjuda minst 60 timmars samhällsorientering under flyktingarnas introduktionsperiod. Den här studien undersöker hur tidigare deltagarna i samhällsorientering uppfattat integrationsinsatsen Samhällsorientering för nyanlända. Det handlar mer specifikt om de nya kunskaperna som de inhämtar om det svenska samhället i kursen gör att de upplever sig vara mer integrerade och delaktiga i det nya samhället. Studien undersöker även om deltagarnas empowerment har ökat efter att de genomgått kursen. Studien har en kvalitativ ansats och studiens data är inhämtad genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med tidigare deltagare i kursen samhällsorientering. Respondenterna är vuxna kvinnor och män som har deltagit i kursen samhällsorientering för nyanlända i Västerviks kommun.

    Resultat av denna studie visar att deltagarna upplever att samhällsorientering har gett dem goda förutsättningarna för att bli integrerade och delaktiga i det svenska samhället. Samtliga respondenter upplever att efter att de tagit del av kursen har de mer kontroll över sitt liv i Sverige då de vet hur det svenska samhället fungerar, vilket innebär att deltagandet i samhällsorientering har stärkt deras empowerment.

    Bakgrund: Den psykiska ohälsan är högre bland HBTQ-ungdomar än andra ungdomar och den ökar på grund av stigmatisering och utsatthet. Det finns dock mötesplatser som arbetar för att ge ett bättre bemötande samt stöd och hjälp. Dessa mötesplatser arbetar för att ge trygghet till ungdomarna samt för att förändra attityder och normer i samhället.

    Syfte: Att undersöka trygga mötesplatser för HBTQ-ungdomar och vad som är bakgrunden till dessa. Vidare är syftet att också ta reda på hur verksamheten på mötesplatserna bedrivs för att skapa trygghet för HBTQ-ungdomar.

    Metod: Studien bygger på en kvalitativ ansats och materialet är insamlat med hjälp av halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Intervjuerna är utförda efter en intervjuguide som består av förbestämda frågor som baserades på studiens syfte. Informanterna har bestått av 5 trygga mötesplatser över hela Sverige och en ungdom som ett exempel. En av intervjuerna är utförd på engelska. Resultatet baseras på citat med kopplingar till aktuell forskning och teoretiska utgångspunkter.

    Resultat: Resultatet visar att bakgrunden till mötesplatserna är heteronormens kraft i samhället. Vidare tas vikten av att vara sig själv upp som en del av att skapa trygghet samt hur mötesplatserna arbetar för att behålla ungdomarnas anonymitet. Det utåtriktade arbetet för att förändra attityder och normkritiskt tänkande visades vara viktigt. Fortsättningsvis var det viktigt att ge ungdomarna ett sammanhang som de fritt kunde komma till om de behövde. De största utmaningarna för mötesplatserna var begränsade resurser och heteronormens kraft i samhället.

    Abstract [en]

    The study is a case study of an activity, called the Oliven, that provides practice for people who are in the Arbetsförmedlingens Job- and development guarantee. The purpose of this study was to examine what it is in the Olivens activities, for people who are part of Phase 2 and 3 of the Job- and development guarantee, which, according to the participants, are working well and what works less well. We wanted to study how the participants perceive their work situation during the time that they participate in the activities. That is to gain knowledge of how the activities for people who are looking for work can be designed so that the participants can, from a salutogenic perspective, create a sense of coherence while they are participating.

    We have collected the empirical data through participant-observation and semi-structured interviews during two days. The analysis was made using the concepts of

    comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness. We have created an image of how the participants' sense of coherence has changed during the time that they have been working at the Oliven and how their experiences of being out of a job for a long time looks like. The analysis was done in two steps, a first, empirical close interpretation and then in the second interpretation we looked for themes in the text that was highlighted by the mentioned above concepts. We found that the participants' sense of coherence has increased over time in the Oliven. The reasons for the increased sense of coherence is related to the participants' increased self-confidence, which in turn are a product of they being seen as human beings and the fact that they had their skills and resources confirmed by others. 5

    The participants highlighted the group community and meaningful work as the Olivens positive sides. However, some participants expressed that it sought a stronger leadership and clearer structure. We have learned that the main reasons for the participants increased sense of coherence is based on the participation and meaningfulness on the workplace which have increased their self-confidence.

    En stor del av svenska kvinnor över 60 år lever i ensamhushåll. Känsla av ensamhet har en negativ påverkan på äldres psykiska och fysiska hälsa och därför är det här en grupp som behöver uppmärksammas inom socialpedagogiken. Denna studie handlar om äldre änkors relationsskapande efter makens bortgång. Syftet med studien var att undersöka och analysera hur änkor i tredje åldern skapade nya/intima relationer på äldre dar. Frågeställningarna var vilken roll gamla och nya relationer och gemenskaper hade spelat i änkornas liv efter en långvarig tvåsamhet, hur änkorna såg på en ny parrelation och vilka förväntningar de i så fall hade, samt vilka möjligheter och hinder till en ny parrelation vi kunde identifiera i deras berättelser. Tre änkor, 70+ år, ålderspensionerade och utan biståndsbedömda insatser deltog i studien. Studien har en kvalitativ ansats och har genomförts med hjälp av semistrukturerade intervjuer; tre enskilda, samt en fokusgruppintervju där samma tre respondenter deltog. Intervjuerna har analyserats med hjälp av tematisk innehållsanalys och intervjuerna har analyserats utifrån de teoretiska utgångspunkterna: tredje åldern, delaktighet, sociala band och livsloppsperspektiv. Ensamhet visade sig vara den största motivatorn för nya relationer, och änkorna föredrog nya vänskapsrelationer med andra solitära kvinnor framför pargemenskaper. Gemensamt för änkorna i studien var att de alla var positiva till en ny parrelation och hade önskemål och förväntningar på vad en sådan skulle innehålla. De ville leva under äktenskapsliknande former som sambo, och förväntningarna var att relationen skulle innehålla sexuell attraktion/aktivitet, kärlek, gemenskap och de vardagliga samtalen. ()()()() () () () () () () () () Det visade sig att respondenterna själva stod för både de största möjligheterna och hindren i skapandet av nya intima relationer. Respondenternas positiva inställning till att vilja leva i en ny parrelation var den största möjligheten. Även barnen (från äktenskapet med maken) samt omgivningens attityder uppgavs utgöra möjligheter eller hinder.

    Abstract [en]

    A common subject today is how people experience difficulties keeping requirements from work and family apart. This study aimed to investigate: (1) What correlations can be found between experienced work-family conflict (WFC), family-work conflict (FWC), the number of hours worked (paid work), the number of hours spent on family and household labor (non-paid work) and division of labor. (2) To what extent paid work, non-paid work and division of labor can predict experienced conflict. (3) If the results concerning experienced conflict differ between women and men. The participants in the study consisted of 389 employees who lived with an employed partner. 211 women and 178 men in the ages of 29-80 years (M = 52) participated. The instrument used to answer the research questions was parts of International Social Survey Program 2012: Opinions on family and work. With correlations, regressions, and t-test the results showed that the only important variables that correlated with experienced WFC was paid work (r = .19) and nonpaid work (r = -.11). Experienced FWC did not show any important correlations for this study. The result also showed that all variables in the study could predict WFC up to 9% and experienced FWC up to 6%, and that women experienced WFC to a greater extent than men do. Division of labor had almost non-existent correlations with either conflict, but did show a strong correlation with gender (r = .58). The conclusion of the present study is that paid and non-paid work, division of labor and gender can to some extent play an important role for in what extent a person experiences conflict between work and family, and vice versa.

    The purpose of the study was to examine to what extent internal and external locus of control along with work experience could predict the degree of perceived stress for the future working life. The study also aimed to measure the degree of perceived stress for the coming working life among the participants. The study participants consisted of 45 last year students, mainly from the programs Human Resource Management and Human Factors, at University West. The study was a quantitative survey with a cross-sectional design. The questionnaire consisted of background questions, Rotter’s I-E scale, and three self-constructed questions about the stress of the future working life. The theoretical background consisted of various researchers’ definition of stress and Julian B. Rotter’s concept of locus of control. Data were analyzed in a multiple regression analysis with locus of control, work experience in the field of education and work experience in total as independent variables. Stress for the coming working life was the dependent variable. The study results, which were in line with previous research, showed

    that the degree of internal versus external locus of control and work experience, to some extent could predict the degree of perceived stress for the future working life. The results indicated that the higher degree of external locus of control an individual had, the higher the level of stress for the coming working life experienced by the individual. The results also showed that the longer work experience in the area for the education, the lower the degree of stress for future working life. The study results also showed a relatively high degree of perceived stress for the coming working life. The authors of the study found no previous research on perceived stress for the future working life. The study thus contributed to a broader field of knowledge in the area

    Abstract [en]

    Hooliganism has been brought into the spotlight over the past 20 years in Swedish media and is described as a social problem. The intention of this study is to look behind the image of hooliganism that the media shows and see what meaning the group has too the individuals in it. The study aims to see how a number of men describes their experience of how their identity was formed in the group. We also have the ambition to find out what drove them too joining the group as well as we want to know how the negative image of the group effects its identity. We collected the data in the study by doing 4, half structured, qualitative life world interviews. The theories that we have used are based on symbolic interactionism, with focus on the terms identity, stigma and masculinity. Our conclusion is that the participation in a hooligan-firm and the community that it is has an important impact on the creation of the identity. We also see that a need to belong gets fulfilled in the group and the individuals become someone in that context.

    Abstract [en]

    This study concerns the work carried out at the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO), concerning the treatment of complaints towards social services. After many years of conducting supervision of social care and hearing about an "auditing competence", I wanted to find out what this entails. This study aims to describe and analyse how the competence of IVO inspectors is put to use at work. The study contributes to our understanding of how knowledge and experience is used at work, and makes clear how different competencies can collaborate as well as how knowledge about the execution of a work activity can be conveyed and developed. The research is carried out through a case study, and the empirical data has been collected through surveys, observations, and focus group interviews. Interviews and observations were carried out with two work groups of inspectors at each of the two IVO divisions. The participant selection is based on the research questions and with consideration for the scope of the dissertation. The results show that the inspectors often stress the importance of a professional background in the areas, which they supervise. However, the results also show that the experience and knowledge which inspectors acquire from their work at IVO has the largest impact when they are involved in the treatment of complaints. The results further make clear that the composition of work groups has significance for the work task they carry out, as different competencies focus on different parts of a complaint. This study also sheds light on the importance of well integrated learning in the work as a foundation for the development of their particular auditing competence.

    Abstract [en]

    Previous research talks about the importance of working preventive and health promotion with early-age students to counter mental illness. The National Board of Health and Education refers to the fact that the school has a responsibility to prevent good health in the students. Previous research also shows that there are several different methods that professionals in the school's areas can use in their work to lay the foundation for a good health in the students. Despite all the methods developed, research shows that the number of people with mental illness continues to escalate. The purpose of this study was to examine the students' experiences and views of the methods used by the school in their preventive work against bullying, violations and exclusion. The aim was also to investigate whether the methods were in line with the school's expected outcomes in the students, following the prevention of mental health related to bullying, violations and exclusion. The idea was to see how and if the methods were developed and what the students who are on their way to high school consider the changes that have taken place. The study was conducted with six semi-structured qualitative interviews. Respondents were a professional educator and a professional curator and four students at the age of 16-17 years old. The interviews were analyzed by IPA as the analytical method. The result of the study showed that the professionals work with methods that the students did not consider to be adequate. This is because the students are not aware of why the methods are used. The students also consider that the methods are not adapted to their needs. More methods are needed that students themselves may develop, and that professionals need to be better at following up the methods that the school chooses to introduce to the students.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper is a study about parents and parenting. Our purpose with this study is to see how rep-resentatives from two authorities make valuation of parents that lack parenting skills. The chosen authorities are an authority and one performer of task. Our questions are: defined by the authori-ties – what do good parenting mean? Which factors are considered in an assessment of parents? What kind of guidelines/ work models do the organisations have? To what extent do these two authorities collaborate around support and assessment? This is an empirical study, were we have interviewed representatives from two authorities, in total four groups. We have used hermeneutic interpretation to look at the empirical material. Our analy-sis is built on the system theory, intersectional analysis and collaboration theory. The terms we examined were good parenting and good enough. The view of the term good enough depended on if the term was in Swedish or in English. Overall, good parenting is when the emotional and physical care is in relation to the needs of the child. The result we found was that these two authorities share the same view on the terms that we ex-amine. Further on we describe the condition for collaboration and the meaning of reaching for the same “language”. Our conclusion is that these terms, especially good enough, is very subjective and that it´s hard to write down criteria’s. This because it´s all about people. This study also shows that the authorities work together around people. In the discussion describes the social pedagogues’ approach that includes a salutogen perspective, intersectional analysis and empowerment.

    Abstract [en]

    The background for this thesis is the author's experience of working as a system analyst during the years 1975-1081. During this period, the system development work can be characterized as expert-oriented, very often leading to the construction of large, integrated EDP-systems. The social consequences of the computerization were unplanned and unforeseen. In the first part of this thesis different system development approaches are presented and analyzed. These approaches are "traditional system development", "socio-technically oriented system development (e g Mumford's ETHICS-model), "a perspective of different interest groups", and finally, "modern system development". These approaches are analyzed from a human-oriented perspective emphasizing the consequences of each tradition regarding possibilities to develop human resources in the work situation. In the second part of the thesis the human-oriented perspective (the MOA-perspective) and the MOA-model are developed. Leavitt's well-known model is taken as a departure for the construction of the MOA-model (MOA= Människa (Human Being), Organisation (Organization), ADB-system (EDP-system). The human-oriented perspective is primarily a theoretical perspective in the field of sociology.  Knowledge, mostly from literature studies, has been put together in a logical framework reflecting the interplay between the three levels of analysis "ideas of coordination and steering", "means for cooperation and steering" (e g EDP-systems and organization structure) and "possibilities of development in work for the employee's". The MOA-model illuminates this logic in a wider context of the enterprise. With the use of the MOA-perspective special parts of the MOA-model are focused upon. The theoretical starting-point has been the basis for the development of some practical applications: a structure for development of the enterprise, and a method for analyzing changes within work situations ("job analysis").

    The study aims to study professional experience of the conditions that exist for collaboration while working with people with neuropsychiatric disorders. The professionals are working with two different occupations in different organizations and collaborate on the target audience. The method we used is a qualitative research interview. The informants consist of six professionals working with neuropsychiatric disorders. The results were analyzed using new institutional organization theory, the concepts of business domain, integration, professionals, discretion, and with the help of literature from systematic review and the background chapter. 

    The conclusions we can draw from the results are:

    • Collaborative process works well and is well integrated between the two studied organizations. 
    • Collaboration is built on the basis of common goals and clear roles and responsibilities. Preconditions for collaboration are sufficient resources, collaboration forums, a driving force, understanding and personal commitment.
    • All professions / occupations are important in the work of people with neuropsychiatric disorders and the professions / occupations that have the medical responsibility have a higher and more dominant role.
    • Case Management could create better conditions for cooperation between the two organizations, as the working model creates better opportunities for professions / professional groups to communicate about specific individuals.
    • Collusion on target is important the individuals have complex needs and a cohesive support is essential to make sure that the individual's needs are met in the best way.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this essay is to discuss the base of sociology from an existentialistic perspective. The discussion takes it's position in the debate on the crisis of sociology, and aligns with Alvin Gouldner's understanding of the crisis. Gouldner believed that the crisis of sociology was mirrored in a sociological method that failed to describe the social reality that it meant to describe; a lack in self-criticism and self-reflexivity, a lack in self-containment in relation to state interests and a lack in moral engagement. This raises a number of questions, which I discuss in the essay. What is the role of sociology in our society? How shall we form a method that responds to the social reality that we sociologists aim to describe? How can we make sociology more moral?

    Existentialism offers a starting point to describe these questions. I argue that the existentialistic description of man as essence carries implications for the social science. By constituting a critique of a computable moral, existentialism points at the necessity of a standing self-criticism and dialogue. An existentialistic description of man as non-essence carries implications for the theory and method of sociology. Man's possibility of radical exceeding of himself means the impossibility to reach theories that describe reality as it is. At the same time, method and theory are necessary to create knowledge about social phenomenon. I read existentialism as an imperative for a sociology that is reflexive in the sense a) a reflexivity in relation to the basic presumptions (value philosophical and ontological) that effect our sociological examinations b) a self-reflexivity that amount to an understanding of the scientists own role relation to his study and the object being studied. Furthermore, I read existentialism as an imperative for a radicalization of dialogue as method.

    Abstract [en]

    The study aims to investigate different descriptions of children of parents with substance abusive problems from the socialworkers descriptions about the work of supportgroups. Based on these descriptions, we want to highlight the factors that affect these children in a positive and negative way. This is done through semi-structured qualitative interviews of socialworkers in various supportgroups in Västra Götaland. We used an interviewguide, which was based on the study's purpose and issues. The results shows that the children of substanceabusive parents benefit from a supportive network, to meet other children in similar home situations and also foster a wider perspective of their situation through a supportgroup. Most children seem to try to keep their parents substanceabusive problems as a secret or defend their parent's behaviors in different ways. It is thus clear that children are often aware of the norms of the society when it comes to addiction and sobriety, as well as their parent´s discrepance from these norms. Many of the children referred to in our study is taking responsibility for their family situations and are living under unpredictable and sometimes turbulent conditions. A dilemma may accurre where the children themselves must decide to either continue to keep the problems as a secret or to seek support and with that reveal the hidden problems.

    Swedish Children's Beliefs about Agency in Family, School and Peer Situations2016Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study is to examine children's beliefs with regard to their agency (i.e., to know and predict your own actions and the consequences of them), in different contexts (family, school and peer-situations). Interviews were conducted with 103 ten-year-old Swedish children. Vignettes were presented to the children and their answers were written down for subsequent thematic analysis. Children think of their agency differently depending upon which context they find themselves in. The contexts where children believe most in their agency are found in situations with peers, and the contexts where they believe least in their agency are experienced with teachers. In situations with parents children think they would react with more resistance than with peers and teachers.

    The purpose of this study was to receve a deeper knowledge of what socialworkers find important in the meeting of people with abuse-/addictionproblems. The study is solely based on the thoughts and experiences of these socialworkers. The questions the study aims to answer is what distinguishes a good meeting accorindg to the socialworkers and how does the difference in power affect the relationship between the socialworker and client? The study has a qualitative approach and has been insipred by fenemenology and the empirics has been obtained through four separate interviews with socialworkers that live in different parts of the country.

    The study shows that a respectful approach tinged by empathy is important in the meeting. The socialworkers mention different methods they use durng the meeting, for example MI. The study also shows the inequal power between the client and the socialworker.  The results shows thar even though there are certain difficulties they experience such as quiet client or a client under the influence.

    Abstract [en]

    It is a qualitative study that describes and analyzes how professionals deal with social issues of inclusiveness and ethics in the investigation of cases involving interventions for adolescents. The focus is on the strategies that staff in social services expressed in terms of obstacles and opportunities for working participatively and especially when it comes to dealing with ethical dilemmas that may arise.

        The method used was qualitative research interviews. Five social workers from two different municipalities were interviewed and the material is analyzed on the basis of socio-cultural theory and organizational theory. Themes that emerged were participation, ethics, discretion and flexibility, collaboration, organization, skills and time. The main obstacles that have emerged in the study are that those who work in social services have had been difficulties to fully create participation due to various factors. The study has shown that organizational factors, limited room for maneuver, and time has a huge impact and can be seen as a threat towards quality and job involvement. The main conditions that have emerged in the study is that discretion, knowledge and experience as an opportunity to create participation.

The purpose of this study was to use three autobiography and describe abused women´s experiences and perceptions of what was the deciding factor that they left their violent partner and which support the woman describes as the most valuable and desirable during the breakup. We used a qualitative content analysis based on exit theory and the concept of significant others. The results show that the deciding factors for the breakup are women´s children and fear for their own life. According to the woman is a combination of support from families and professionals the most helpful. The result also shows that professional support often is absent, women had wished for more help from the community

    Familjehemsplacering är den vanligaste placeringsformen i Sverige när barn av olika anledningar inte kan bo kvar i sitt hem. Biologiska barn blir mer eller mindre delaktiga i familjehemsuppdraget. Studiens intresseområde inriktar sig på dem, då det finns en risk att de lämnas utanför en utvärdering och att deras synpunkter inte beaktas. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur en familjehemsplacering berör biologiska barn i ett familjehem och vilka upplevelser och erfarenheter de har av att växa upp i en familj som tar emot familjehemsplaceringar. Frågeställningarna studien utgått ifrån är; Hur ser vuxna personer som vuxit upp i familjehem på familjehemsuppdraget ur ett barns perspektiv? Vilka erfarenheter och uppfattningar finns kring delaktighet och påverkan i familjehemmets vardag? och Hur beskriver de sin syn på uppväxten som biologiskt barn i ett familjehem sedan de blivit vuxna? Studien har en kvalitativ ansats och datamaterialet har samlats in genom en semistrukturerad intervjumetod, med fyra informanter som vuxit upp med familjehemsplaceringar. Studiens utgångspunkt är att få fram upplevelser och erfarenheter som kan ge en fördjupad möjlighet att få fram uppfattningar från de som vuxit upp som biologiskt barn i ett familjehem. Resultatet analyseras utifrån en tematisk analys. Teman som framkom var; delaktighet, ansvar, barnets perspektiv samt råd och vägledning. Informanterna uppgav en ambivalent grundsyn till familjehemsuppdraget, då det varken var övervägande negativa eller positiva erfarenheter de fått under uppväxten. Analysen visade även på svårighet att avgöra om uppfattningarna kom från ett barns perspektiv eller om det var erfarenheter utifrån en vuxens perspektiv. Diskussionen behandlar råd till familjehemsföräldrar och professionella inom socialt arbete samt etiska aspekter gällande biologiska barns delaktighet i familjehemsvård.

    Syftet med studien var att undersöka socialarbetares inställningar till att möta så kallad våldsbejakande extremism. I studien användes en kvalitativ metod där sex verksamma socialarbetare intervjuades. Det insamlade materialet analyserades med hjälp av tidigare forskning, Axel Honneth’s erkännandeteori, Howard S Becker’s stämplingsteori samt med hjälp av Frame-begreppet. Studien gav ett splittrat resultat men visade bland annat att socialarbetare ser våldsbejakande extremism som en problematik som beror på faktorer som utanförskap, identitetssökande och tillhörighet. Socialarbetare anser att det sociala arbetets ansvar framförallt är att arbeta förebyggande för att individer inte ska hamna i våldsbejakande miljöer. Att samtala, lyssna och inte avvisa beskrivs som ett tillvägagångssätt för att bemöta våldsbejakande åsikter och budskap. Socialarbetare beskriver både en känsla av att vara trygga och otrygga inför att möta våldsbejakande extremism. Att använda samtalet som verktyg och se individen bakom handlingen beskrivs som faktorer som gör att socialarbetare känner sig trygga inför att möta, eller eventuellt möta våldsbejakande extremism. Känsla av otrygghet härleds bland annat till rädslan för att själv bli ett offer för våldshandlingar på grund av sitt arbete.

    Syftet med studien var att undersöka mammors berättelser om sin upplevda relation till sina barn under och efter tiden de var våldsutsatta, samt hur de upplever stödet de fått genom en gruppverksamhet riktat till barn och föräldrar som varit utsatta för våld i nära relation. Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metod där semistrukturerade intervjuer genomförts med fyra mammor som tillsammans med sina barn varit utsatta för våld i nära relation. Materialet har analyserats genom en tematisk metod. Materialet har således organiserats och strukturerats utifrån teman som gemensamt framträtt i intervjuerna. Analysen av studiens resultat mynnade ut i nio teman; att kontrollera situationen, att känna frihet i det låsta, symtom, att komma varandra närmre när bubblan spricker, ett annat perspektiv på det viktiga i vardagen, maktlöshet, i skuggan av våldet, en hjälpande hand och tid. Sammanfattningsvis tyder resultatet på att mammorna är kreativa och resursfulla för att skydda sina barn. De har en önskan om att uppnå ett bra eller perfekt föräldraskap. Mammorna vill inte ses som misslyckade mammor. Barnens behov behöver alltid finnas i centrum. Hur goda intentioner mammorna än har medför det trots allt negativa konsekvenser för barnen både under tiden våldet pågår och efter separation från våldsutövaren. Mammorna tolkas uppvisa en medvetenhet för hur våldet har påverkat på olika sätt, vilket är en förutsättning för att senare kunna tillgodogöra sig stödinsatser. Att få möjlighet att bearbeta och berätta om sina upplevelser tillsammans med personer som befunnit sig i en liknande situation tycks i slutändan vara helande för barnens utveckling på många olika sätt. En del barn uppvisade dock reaktioner under tiden stödet mottogs, vilket skulle kunna vara en del av den bearbetningsprocess som startar i samband med mottagandet av stöd och återupplivade minnen.

    Ofta hörs kritiska röster kring islam som en kvinnoförtryckande religion, ibland till och med som en religion som vill föra oss tillbaka till ett förgånget samhälle. Samtidigt finns muslimska kvinnor som menar att det är just deras tro som stärkt dem som kvinnor och som människor. Underlaget till denna rapport är unga muslimska flickors berättelser om sina liv i Sverige. Skola, fritid och framtid står i fokus i våra samtal, men i vårt möte med flickorna återges olika livssituationer, drömmar och tankar. I första kapitlet presenterar vi vår studie och vårt tillvägagångssätt. Vi har gjort kvalitativa intervjuer och använder oss av ett intersektionellt perspektiv på religion och kön. I kapitel två visar vi en komplex bild av olika värderingar, hållningar och förklaringsmönster. I detta kapitel har vi låtit flickorna själva träda fram i texten genom ganska långa citat och ge sin syn på livet som muslimsk flicka. På så sätt träder nyanser fram i materialet och bäddar för en djupare förståelse för olika sätt att leva som muslim i Sverige. I del tre diskuterar vi hur flickorna förhåller sig till religion i ett vidare perspektiv. I vår studie blir tre olika muslimska diskurser - en global, en kulturell och en sekulär – synliga.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of the study is to identify causes among people with a long-term reception of support support and to gain knowledge about whether working methods at a labor market unit are designed in conjunction with the causes that arise. There are different definitions of what a long-term receipt of economic support is, in this study, a long-term recipient is considered to be the one who has been active in economic support for ten months or more. This is in accordance with the provisions of Socialstyrelsen (2014). The study focuses on one mediumsized municipality in Sweden that is considered representative to the purpose of the study. The study has used a mixture of a quantitative and qualitative method. With the quantitative method, data-material has been obtained at the beginning of March 2018 from a documentation system by name Procapita which contained 198 clients based on age, sex and causes of clients with a long-term receipt. The data-material has been converted and compiled into different charts on Excel statistics program. The results of the charts show seven causes amongst these clients. Unemployment and sick clients with a medical certificate or medical opinion were the most common causes. Then there were the sick without a basis, meaning that they were only sick at present with neither a medical certificate nor a medical opinion, then came drug abusers, various causes that included full-time work, summer jobs, unaccompanied minors and those who were guilty or imprisoned. The last cause for a long-term reception was job seekers. In connection with the qualitative method, a semi-structured interview was conducted with a social worker from the municipality. Before the interview was conducted, a plan was made on how the questions would be formulated to generate knowledge to the purpose of the study. The interview was recorded and transferred from speech to writing. The result of the interview was that working methods were adapted to the individual's needs at present. By presenting causes that have emerged in the study, focus has then been placed on whether these interact with working methods. The result shows that working methods are not designed for a cause per se, instead there are several explanations for why a cause has become and it is after those explanations and after the individuals needs at present and what the individual person thinks is important in how social workers design their working methods.

    Fifteen nations offer fathers the right to reduce work hours to care for children. Incorporating a gender perspective, this study uses a mixed-methods approach to examine the implementation of this policy in the first nation to offer it, Sweden. It investigates whether the institutional and cultural environment exerts pressure on companies to facilitate fathers' hours reduction, companies' levels of support for fathers' use of this entitlement and correlates of company support. The persistence of the “male model of work” appears to be an important barrier to implementation of a policy that offers promise in offering fathers time to care.

    Abstract [en]

    We have written a qualitative study with a phenomenological and a hermeneutical approach. We have collected data using semi-structured interviews. The basis of the study's theoretical framework is based on May's and Marcuse's explanation of art and creativity as a general human, meaningful and transcendent practice. We interviewed staff at three non-therapeutic institutions for women suffering from domestic violence, psychiatric vulnerable people and homeless women. The study aims to investigate how staff defines art and creativity, the risk and opportunities creative activities means for users and about the activities enables empowerment for users. We also examined the social consequences of art and creativity, for both users and staff. The study results and analysis show that art and creativity gives the users a range of possibilities. Art and creativity provides opportunities for fellowship, knowledge and acknowledgment, a break from the outside world, processing and to some extent empowerment. The social policy implications of art and creativity are that they liberate the institutions from hierarchies. The institutions offer users worthy and equal protection zones, were the staff, in turn, can put down repressive power, rules and rigid roles. By contrast, the art and creativity don’t lead to social change for the target groups in question outside the institutions.

    Abstract [en]

    Participation is a common concept, which is used in social pedagogy to study human relations. However, there are many dimensions of participation and the concept can be both a subjective and objective meaning. According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), all children should have the right to go to school. Additionally, the CRC points out that the school should create participation for the children. To feel involved can thus be regarded as a human right, but how participated does the pupils experience themselves?

    This study aimed to study and analyze how pupils' participation is emphasized in the school environment from a pupils' perspective, both in class with teachers and outside of the classroom among the pupils themselves. The study has been conducted in a municipal Namibian school using participant observation, semi-structured interviews and a micro ethnographic methodological approach.

    The results of the study are consistent to some extent with previous research. Pupils experience very social and informal participation among each other, but the school fails to create relational pedagogy and participation in the classroom. The lack of influence is affecting the pupils study motivation, which in turn is perceived as bad study performance by the teachers and they therefore get punished. Unlike the results of previous research, this study shows that socio-economic status does not affect pupil performance. This probably has to do with the fact that the school compensates pupils with lower socio-economic status by providing affordable accommodation, free food and school uniforms. The results of this study can be used to conduct similar research.

    The aim of this study is to investigate how different occupational categories within adult education in Swedish for immigrants (SFI) interact within the framework of their common business.

    As a method for carrying out the study, I have used qualitative interviews. The data material presents opportunities and difficulties that appear around working together. The empirical material has been processed through thematic analysis. The theoretical starting point for the study is a model of different degrees of vertical and horizontal integration for understanding collaboration.

    The result shows that there are a variety of temporary collaborations. Through interviews the study give examples of professional categories that meet in everyday work. In addition, work takes place between different professional categories in a more coordinated form through teams. Furthermore, the respondents' experiences of the value of collaborating, such as strengthened relationships and a better working environment, are made visible. Another highlight that is mentioned is the increased possibility for staff to identify the need for support from the students, which leads to better adaptations of teaching. The result also shows how the business is coordinated through teams, and the potential for collaboration. Cooperation between professional categories is not fully achieved today within sfi.

    The conclusions show that there is a consensus among managers and other occupational categories considering which mechanisms make it difficult or possible to cooperate. There are no routines for collaboration today. What employees also demand is someone who leads the work, makes decisions and bears the responsibility of planning, implementing and following up the collaboration.

    School and its significant role is a common subject in the early discussion of the social pedagogy field, and are still topical. International and national policies states that the school environment should be including and that the student welfare service is supposed to work preventative and conduce participation for all pupils in school related circumstances. Pupils with neuropsychiatric diversities tend to be neglected in the school context, which is the main reason for the selection of this issue.

    The aim of this study is to examine how staff within the student welfare service perceives circumstances regarding participation amongst pupils with neuropsychiatric diversities.

    With inspiration from the hermeneutic and phenomenological theory of science, a qualitative method has been used to corral information. The data is processed with an abductive technique, based on seven semi structured interviews with staff working in the student welfare services.

    The result is presented with a sociocultural view of understanding and the participation conception is applied to describe the situation. Inclusive communions appear to be a complex phenomenon and the conclusion emphasizes several vital aspects concerning conditions of participation such as individual circumstances, pupil interaction, teacher’s approaches and collaboration between professions. Beneficial variables are the project of working with basic values, that pupils and teachers have good relationships and coaction in regard of school based professions and with external community actors. Knowledge deficiency and limitations in the room for manoeuvre are considered to be preventing.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: To obtain reliable statics over the number of undocumented migrants is very difficult, precisely because they are undocumented and live in hiding. The estimated number of undocumented migrants in Sweden is between 10,000 to 50,000, which is a large group of people who live under very difficult living conditions. It is this group that the essay will shed the light on, based on the work of voluntary organizations.

    Objective: The aim of the study is to examine the work of voluntary organizations' participation promotion work to support undocumented people.

    Method: I have used a qualitative research method, in the form of semi-structured interviews. Four employees of a voluntary organization were interviewed. The interviews used the same interview guide, with room for supplementary questions. The theoretical approach has been the KASAM, and the concepts of participation and social support. I have categorized, coded, thematised and analyzed the data collected on the basis of my theoretical perspective as well as the previous research.

    Results: The results demonstrate that the organization works extensively with creating security for the undocumented migrants. Partly by that the undocumented migrants should feel that the organization's premises are a safe place for them, but also by allowing as much of the business to be predictable. They also offer practical support to the undocumented, in the form of clothes and food, but also access to health care. This demonstrates by cooperation with other organizations, but also by other people, who choose to contribute. The organization also tries to create a social context for the undocumented, and press the importance that all people feel good to be part of a context. Participation is something they work with on a daily basis, in many different ways, including getting them to participate in all activities and have the opportunity to be volunteers.

    Syftet med studien är att se om och i sådana fall hur 10§ kap5 SoL har påverkat stödet för anhöriga till människor med missbruksproblematik samt att se hur samverkan mellan organisationer används för att underlätta för de anhöriga. I och med att dessa anhöriga är en tyst målgrupp krävs det samverkan för att nå dem då alla inte är i kontakt med socialtjänst eller andra myndigheter.

     Fem kvalitativa halvstrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med sex personer som arbetar med anhörigstöd på olika sätt. Materialet transkriberades och analyserades sedan genom analysmodellen grounded theory genom att jag hittade olika kategorier delvis utifrån vad informanterna sade och delvis utifrån studiens syfte, efter det hittade jag underkategorier.

    Resultatet analyserades med stöd utav samverkansteori och implementeringsteori, och visar att så länge samverkan används för den anhöriges bästa fungerar den bra då stödet blir individuellt anpassat efter dennes behov. Det är inte många utav informanterna som har kunnat uttala sig om någon nackdel med samverkan. Flera av informanterna har inte påverkats av lagen fast alla arbetar med anhörigstöd. Den skillnaden som kan ses är att vissa kommuner skapat en ny tjänst efter att lagen kom, men det visar ändå att implementeringen inte har lyckats helt. Resultaten visar också att det kan finnas ett samband mellan samverkan och implementering, för om fler professioner s vet om lagen desto bättre går samverkan mellan verksamheterna, då alla vet vad lagen innebär och kan samverka utifrån den.

    Syftet med studien var att undersöka alkoholmissbrukets betydelse för arbetet med vårdtagares möjligheter till delaktighet samt vilket bemötande hemtjänstpersonalen har mot vårdtagare med alkoholmissbruk. Frågeställningarna var; hur skiljde sig arbetet med delaktighet, enligt hemtjänstpersonal, mellan vårdtagare med alkoholmissbruk och vårdtagare utan alkoholmissbruk? Hur såg möjligheter till delaktighet ut för alkoholmissbrukande vårdtagare inom hemtjänsten, enligt hemtjänstpersonal? Hur såg, enligt hemtjänstpersonal, bemötandet ut till vårdtagare med alkoholmissbruk i förhållande till de vårdtagarna utan alkoholmissbruk?

    Den teoretiska utgångspunkten var teorier kring delaktighet och bemötande. Exempel på teorier kring delaktighet är att en individ måste själv uppleva sig som delaktig för att vara delaktig. Delaktighet handlar om ett samspel mellan individ och omgivning. Bemötande definieras bland annat som något som sker i en relation och i mötet mellan människor.

    Det empiriska materialet består av fem intervjuer med undersköterskor som arbetar inom hemtjänst. Bearbetningen av datamaterialet gjordes genom kategorisering, kodning och tematisering som sedan analyserades. Slutsatserna är att vårdtagarna har bra möjligheter till att vara delaktiga med vissa begränsningar beroende av alkoholmissbruk. Alla informanter vill att alla vårdtagare ska behandlas lika, trots detta framkommer skillnader i både arbetet med delaktighet och bemötande till vårdtagare utan alkoholmissbruks fördel. En annan slutsats är att hemtjänstpersonal saknar kunskap för att på ett professionellt sätt arbeta med vårdtagare med alkoholmissbruk.

    De senaste åren har det uppmärksammats att psykisk ohälsa bland barn och ungdomar har ökat. Det är viktigt att barn och ungdomar med psykisk ohälsa får hjälp och stöd i ett tidigt skede, det kan annars få allvarliga konsekvenser. Skolan och elevhälsan har en viktig roll förelever och deras utveckling, de har även i uppdrag att stödja elever med psykisk ohälsa och att arbeta förebyggande. Tidigare forskning visar på att ungdomar väljer att inte vända sig till elevhälsan eller andra professionella vid psykisk ohälsa. Det har även visat sig i tidigare forskning att det finns bristfällig kunskap gällande elevernas egna syn på elevhälsan. Vi ville med denna studie öka kunskapen kring elever och deras syn på elevhälsan som arbetar på skolan, samt vad de önskar att den ska finnas till för och på vilket sätt. Huvudsyftet var att få kunskap om hur en elevhälsa är främjande för elever och för att få reda på det måste elevernas egna syn och önskemål stå i fokus. För att undersöka detta användes i studien en kvantitativ ansats med enkätundersökning som metod. Deltagarna i studien bestod av 126 elever i årskurs 9 från två olika skolor i Västra Götalands län. Studiens resultat visade på att majoriteten av eleverna i årskurs 9 var medvetna om att elevhälsan fanns. Däremot var det ett stort antal av eleverna som endast var svagt bekanta med elevhälsan då de endast visste lite om deras arbete och vilka som ingick i elevhälsan. Eleverna skulle främst vända sig till sina informella kontakter som föräldrar och vänner vid negativa känslor. Majoriteten av eleverna uppgav att de inte skulle vända sig till någon professionell vid negativa känslor. Många av eleverna uppgav att de tyckte att det var viktigt att elevhälsan fanns för att kunna prata med någon. Procentuellt tyckte de flesta av eleverna att elevhälsan skulle finnas till för att prata om jobbiga händelser i deras liv. Eleverna önskade främst ta kontakt med elevhälsan genom att gå dit. Många av eleverna hade någon gång undvikit att ta kontakt med elevhälsan fast de egentligen känt ett behov.

    A principal element in the process of integration is identity. The ability of immigrants to integrate the cultural identity of their country of origin and the cultural identity of their new country to form a coherent self-concept has been found to be positively related to various forms of psychological well-being. But there is a lack of consensus among researchers regarding the optimal integrated identity structure. While supporters of the acculturative approach argue that a strong identification to both the original and the new groups maximizes well-being,others insist more on the importance of maintaining a coherent identity, regardless of the strength of identification and regardless of the number of social identities.As most researchers in the health oriented debate on identity have focused on abicultural context, knowledge of the identity structure that promotes well-being in a multicultural surrounding is limited. The identity politics dominating mainstream multicultural discourses are theoretically grounded on the idea that humans have essential, unchanging cores that are fully formed and integrated. Within this paradigm, groups are identified by characteristics that are understood as inherently distinctive. Therefore in order to understand the process by which social identities become integrated into a concept of self an intercultural approach of the understanding of social identities and well-being is suggested. The aim of this chapter is to review the debate on the concept of coherence in relation to identity and well-being in a multicultural context and to investigate whether identity based coherence is challenged or promoted by an intercultural approach of understanding.

    Although the therapeutic effect of the alliance between the social worker and the client is widely recognized, the knowledge on what actually constitutes a successful alliance is limited. The factors at stake are mostly referred to as common factors and include the ability of the social worker to be warm, personal, caring and devoted towards the client. With a bidirectional perspective on the construct of agency Ester Goh (2015) among others has shown that the relationship between the social worker and the client could be regarded as a resource for therapeutic success that enable the client to bean active agent in the process in his or her process of change. The aim of this study is to increase the understanding of what resources a successful relationship between a socialworker and a young client carries in the respect of enabling agentic behavior in the young client. Method In a collaboration with a drug prevention program in the municipality of Ale in the south-western part of Sweden, young clients in the age between 14 and 18 will be interviewed together with their social worker regarding their mutual relationship. Rather than addressing the social issues, the interview will focus on the relationship as such in search for the narratives of the nature of their relationship. Each paired interview will be followed up by individual interviews with the social worker and the young client respectively. Expected results The study is expected to expand the knowledge on how social workers establish functional relationship with young clients, relationships that in turn represents an important resource for the voice of the young client in his or her own process of change.

    A better understanding of insecure living circumstances and the relational world of older people has the potential to contribute to the development of care planning and delivery. This chapter examines conditions of precarity and empowering social ties of older people in community sites. The study used ethnographic methods to understand the lived experiences of 20 older people that was predominantly female and African American in Baton Rouge in the U.S. State of Louisiana. The ethnographic fieldwork for this investigation was conducted from 2013 to 2018 through participant-observations and open-ended interviews in three community sites in Baton Rouge. The field data was analyzed using social network and empowerment frameworks. The social ties of older people in Louisiana were compared with a previous study on social ties of older people in two Swedish senior centers. The analysis focuses self-, peer- and community empowerment levels and how they protect against precarity of older people. The findings from studying different community sites of older people in Louisiana demonstrate that the key social support ties that provided a buffer against precarity of older people were close friendships made in community sites and spiritual faith ties to God. Conditions of precarity and sources of stress of older people in Louisiana were constant threats of discontinuity of home-based health care services, prescription and medication access, not affording health care and other social problems of poverty, cognitive impairment and declining health. In Louisiana, self- and peer empowerment of older people were strong, but community empowerment through home-based health care services were not enough to prevent and reduce precarity of older people. Toward the background that Sweden can be considered to have a comprehensive social welfare system it is easier to see examples of empowerment of older people on all three levels. Self- and community empowerment were the strongest when studying examples of community sites for older people. In the Swedish study, the social network of older people was dominated by thin ties between senior peers. Community sites are needed as completent to ageing at home. In Louisiana, strong (thick) ties of older people were dominant. For the older people in Louisiana to receive consistent home-based health care services was not a given but required an ongoing active and joint effort by older people, family caregivers and friends. Policy implications of this study are that ongoing care support by family caregivers, friends and home-based health care services and medication access without gaps are needed to reduce and protect against precarity of older people. Self-empowerment should be supported by not only peer but also community empowerment.

    Abstract [en]

    The starting point of this study is based on a perspective of Work Integrated Learning through the social pedagogy program that has been located to the northern Kalmar county region since 2003. With the study I want to highlight which importance it provides to local organizations and their development that the education is available in the local community. The purpose of the study is to illustrate and analyze how employee's formal and informal education provides for organizational development and implementation based on a socio-cultural perspective. Another aim is to focus on the importance of social pedagogy in welfare work in the northern Kalmar county region.

    The study has a qualitative approach in which I´ve used half-structured interviews. In total, eight interviews have been conducted with business leaders and coordinators in welfare work. The selection has been made based on an ongoing study that has shown which activities have recruited most students from the social pedagogy program in the region. As a theoretical framework, a sociocultural perspective is used, focusing on the concepts,learning and communities.

    The result of the study shows that access to students is a crucial factor in meeting the skills and recruitment needs in the region. Vocational education is important for the organizations learning and organizational development, providing the possibility to build practical experience from the professional life of the students, as well as to get an analytical look at their own work. The relationship between education and the workplace can be understood from a changing labor market where the education needs updates from the field of activity and the field of activity is dependent on education based on educating.

    Abstract [en]

    In this study, I have studied how teachers are working to enable inclusion for pupils with difficulties in social interaction without the need to have a diagnosis. Municipalities and schools work differently when it comes to students who need support. Teachers in the study agree that the work of the school around the inclusion is important. The empirical data were collected using qualitative methods through interviews with four female teachers from three different schools in two different municipalities. The analysis of the results was done by qualitative content analysis according to Lundman and Hällgren Graneheim (2008) where the theoretical basis has been participation. The results of the study show that the interviewed teachers are actively working to enable inclusion for pupils who have difficulties in social interaction. They also focus on increasing the understanding of students' differences and diverse needs by advocating that all are important just as it is. The conclusions you can make from this study is that teachers work actively and purposefully to enable inclusion and resources for this planned based on student needs. The work takes place not only at the individual level but also at group level with the whole class and school together. The diagnosis has no bearing on whether the pupil should be supported, but it may in some cases facilitate the planning of assistance

    Abstract [en]

    This study is based on the collaboration processes between primary school and social services and based on how collaboration works in practice between these two organizations. Through a qualitative study in a suburb in western Sweden, we came to the conclusion how people from different professions at primary school and social services experience the interaction process and how they work together to develop collaboration. It also revealed some success factors and shortcomings in cooperation. It clearly demonstrated during the study that collaboration is a time consuming process based on good relationships. Respondents saw the collaboration as an essential resource to meet vulnerable children's needs in the best way.
