    Abstract [en]

    This project was aiming to research the potential impact that IPSec, combined with using NAT to translate addresses, could have on both the amount of data being sent and latency. By setting up four network topologies in a lab environment with different configurations and conducting two specific tests in each topology, the relevant data that was needed to form conclusions regarding this was obtained.

    The two tests that was conducted were:

    1. Sending 5000 pings from one host to another host across the network.

    2. Transferring 1 GB of data from one host to another host across the network.

    No evidence was found that showed that latency is affected by using both IPSec and NAT, but it does have an impact on the size of individual packets. By using both protocols, an additional UDP header including 8 bytes of data is added onto each packet, which in turn requires more overhead data to be sent in total. The additional overhead can cause issues with MTU sizes and fragmentation if not handled correctly, which leads to more overhead and more processor usage.

    Målet är att genomföra tester för att avgöra om "Cloud Gaming" håller en tillräckligt hög standard för att ersätta lagrad gaming. Detta görs genom att ha noggranna tester för streamingservices som Playstation Now samt Geforce Now och kollar om tjänsten verkligen är användbar på olika mängder bandbredd, inklusive deras officiella minimikrav och sedan jämföra detta med vad bandbreddstandarden är för resten av världen. Det som resulterade utifrån detta var att världen faktiskt inte var redo för kraven som streamad gaming hade på folket, men även att även streamingtjänster som tex Playstation Now samt Geforce Now inte heller är redo för att bli en standard runtom i världen när det gäller spel.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this report is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages related to a portation of a native mobile application to a web application. Thus a prototype was built based on the Android application Virtual Tycoon, a product by the company Mindark, with the purpose to imitate the native app to the highest degree possible. This prototype was used as a base of evaluations for this project. The main advantage of creating a web application is that it can be made cross-platform. This causes the product to have a broader user base as well as reduces the development costs. With today's means of web development nearly all aspects of a native app can be imitated in terms of graphics and performance. A portation of this kind is not without compromise. When creating a web application the developer cannot interact with the operating system of the device or use its native functions. Security-wise the web application will be vulnerable to more types of attacks, and the code integrity will be impaired since all code executed in the web browser is visible to the user. By the accomplishment of this project, the conclusion drawn is that web applications is a worthy substitute to native mobile applications

    Abstract [en]

    Traditional desktops can be expensive, unsecure, and complex to deploy in campus environments. Cloud providers offer a desktop virtualization solution that is widely used nowadays. In this study, we examine the differences between psychical desktops and cloud virtual desktops to determine which fits best in campus environments. This comparison is performed based on different aspects including the expenses, configurations, management, security, availability, and scalability. For this purpose, Windows Azure virtual desktop was deployed and compared to the traditional computing workstations at University West. There are other aspects but those we chose are the most important to consider when choosing a new IT solution [26 ,27]. The findings indicate that Windows Azure virtual desktop is a better alternative than the traditional desktops since it has high availability, and it is less expensive, scalable, easy to configure and manage. However, from a security perspective, traditional desktops are still to be preferred

    Abstract [en]

    Tactile Internet (TI) has very stringent networking requirements and the transport layer plays a crucial role in meeting these requirements. However, the transport layer has several inherent limitations (e.g., bufferbloat, incast issue, and head of line blocking) due to which the performance of the current transport layer solutions is not optimal. We advocate replacing the “store-and-forward” strategy in transport layer solutions with the “compute-and-forward” strategy. One way to implement the “compute-and-forward” strategy is random linear network coding (RLNC). This paper proposes a learning-based RLNC framework called RS-RLNC that utilizes network and receiver feedback to optimally select between block-RLNC and sliding-RLNC to improve overall network performance. We present a simulation-based performance evaluation of current transport layer solutions against the state-of-the-art RLNC and RS-RLNC in terms of throughput, latency, and decoding complexity. Delay is reduced by a factor of 8.5% and decoding complexity is improved up to 20% compared to the state-of-the-art. Simulation results indicate that RS-RLNC has the potential to meet the stringent requirements of TI applications. Additionally, we present three future directions outlining the evolution of RS-RLNC to enhance the transport layer for TI compatibility.

    Abstract [en]

    When implementing OSPF in a network that uses both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses there are two ways. One either use OSPFv2 for IPv4 and OSPFv3 for IPV6 at the same time but each with their own separate process or one could use OSPFv3 Address Families for both IPv4 and IPv6 under one process.This university diploma thesis looks at which of the two ways of implementing OSPF that has the quickest SPF-calculation and which one that has the lowest convergence time.The routers used in the tests were of model Cisco 2901 with IOS version 15.4. The results show that OSPFv3 Address Families performs SPF-calculation better than OSPFv2 and OSPFv3 when faced with 1250 or more networks. Even though Address Families has a quicker SPF-calculation it has a higher convergence time than OSPFv2 and OSPFv3.

    Abstract [en]

    In today's' global economy, the outsourcing rate is increasing at rapid phase especially in larger organizations. Whenever there is outsourcing, the inherent risk factors are also associated with it and the project manager plays a greater role in reducing such risk.

    Therefore, the current study aims to explore the relationship between the project manager's efficiency in terms of their hard and soft skills with the successful completion of the IT outsourced projects in Indian companies. The study adopted explorative, qualitative study design, where the project managers working in IT outsourcing companies were selected as the target population and the semi structured interview method was used to collect the data. Based on the interview scripts themes were identified which explores their skills, effectiveness and the importance of the project managers to overcome the challenges and issues involved in IT Outsourcing. The findings showed that quality of the product, timely delivery and technological support were identified as the critical factors of IT outsourcing. Majority of the respondents stated that the project manager skills (Hard and soft Skill) were important for the success of the project.

    Denna undersökning ämnar utreda åt en specifik verklig organisation angående vilken Wide-Area-Network (WAN) lösning som lämpar sig bäst efter deras behov. Idag använder organisationen Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) -förbindelser mellan sina kontor, och har lagt fram som önskemål att eventuellt ersätta det med Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN) över internet om den lösningen kan upprätthålla samma tillgänglighets samt kvalitetskrav som MPLS.

    Syftet med arbetet är att utreda åt organisationen om SD-WAN över internet kan vara ett alternativ till den WAN-teknik i form av MPLS som de använder idag.Anledningen till att se på en eventuell ersättare till MPLS var enligt organisationen att WAN-länkar mellan kontoren kan bli överbelastade ibland, vilket i sin tur medför att applikationer upplevs gå långsamt. Därför vill organisationen undersöka om det överhuvudtaget går att ersätta SD-WAN över internet som en alternativ lösning i stället för att utökning kapaciteten på befintliga MPLS-förbindelser.

    Det har utretts vilket användarmönster som organisationen använder sig av när det gäller moln och IT-tjänster.

    Utvärdering och mätning av kundens befintliga nät samt önskemål har gjorts i samband med faktainsamling för att kunna få fram ett rimligt resultat. Resultatet pekade på att befintligt nät påvisar god kvalitet och ett byte från MPLS till SD-WAN över internet inte rekommenderas på grund av organisationens krav på kvalité och tillgänglighet samt deras begränsade användning av molntjänster ute på internet.

    Diskussionen pekade på att SD-WAN kan vara ett framtida alternativ hos organisationen, inte som en ersättare av MPLS-nätet men som ett komplement då viss typ av icke-kritisk trafik kan styras över internet i stället för att belasta MPLS-länkarna, det kallas för hybrid-WAN.

    Abstract [en]

    Industrial manual assembly is a relatively established use case for emerging head-mounted Augmented Reality (AR) platforms: operators get visual support in placing pieces depending on where they are in the assembly process. However, is vision the only suitable sensory modality for such guidance? We present a systematic review of previous work done on multimodal guidance and subtle guidance approaches, confirming that explicit visual cues dominate. We then outline a three-step method for generating multisensory guidance ideas intended for real-world task support based on task observation that led to identification of 18 steps in truss assembly, brainstorming AR guidance approaches related to assembly and maintenance, and mapping of brainstorming results to the observed task. We illustrated the use of the method by deploying it on our current mission in producing AR guidance approaches for an industrial partner involved in designing and assembling wooden trusses. In this work, we went beyond the standard visual AR guidance in two ways, 1) by opening for guidance through auditory, tactile, and olfactory sensory channels, 2) by considering subtle guidance as alternative or complement to explicit information presentation. We presented a resulting set of multisensory guidance ideas, each tied to one of the 18 steps in the observed truss assembly task. To mention a few which we intend to investigate further: smell for gradual warning about non-imminent potential hazardous situations; 3D sound to guide operators to location of different tools; thermos-haptics for subtle notifications about contextual events (e.g., happening at other assembly stations). The method presented helped us to explore all modalities and to identify new possibilities. More work is needed to understand how different modalities can be combined and the impact of different modality distractions on task performance. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

    Anmäla mera applikationen är föremål för diskussion i den här artikeln eftersom den handlar om möjligheten till en mer effektiv implementering av smarta städer. Informations- och kommunikationsteknik förändrar successivt hur stadsförvaltningar och stadsinvånare organiserar och agerar som svar på urban expansion. Denna förändring sker itakt med framväxten av konceptet smarta städer. I detta examensarbete utformar vi ett generiskt utvecklingsramverk som kan hjälpa till med skapandet och spridningen av smarta statstjänster. Detta ramverk kan hjälpa till med båda dessa uppgifter. Som en demonstration av genomförbarheten av vårt föreslagna system genomförde vi det i en viss stad och med en viss kommunal service. Vårt måldistrikt är Trollhättan och vår måltjänst rapporterar om de frågor som finns i kvarteret. Systemet som byggdes är inriktat på att stödja och optimera rapporteringen, och det förlitar sig till största delen på ett enda mätvärde för data som samlats in från den lokala kommunen.

    Abstract [en]

    Today, when accessing information and services on the Internet on desktop computers it has become the norm to use web browsers. In mobile devices the situation is different, where the users prefer dedicated applications. The market for mobile devices is fragmented with many different operating systems and manufacturers. Because of this fragmentation each application needs to be developed in different versions Lately, methods have been introduced for developing applications with a shared code base; this technology makes it possible to run an application on any type of operating system. This type of application is often called a hybrid application, and uses web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3. To be able to access the native features of the device it is necessary to use API libraries.

    Intel XDK was introduced in 2013 and is a development environment for hybrid applications, it gives developers several opportunities to choose from different runtime environments, API-libraries and frameworks for design of user interfaces. With the help of benchmark tests this report compares the performance of the different options available.

    The report also presents recommendations on which options to use for development of applications targeting the Android OS using Intel XDK

    Virtualisation is becoming more and more popular to use. VMware is a service that offers virtualisation of hardware. This means that it's possible to virtualize multiple machines on one server, this to save on cost, space and ease of management. Tests are made by sending Iperf data through a client to an Iperf server. Between these two virtual machines lies a software firewall that's using pfSense. Meanwhile the Iperf client is sending data to the server, a vMotion migration is executed to another ESXi. This investigation is about seeing how vMotion can handle a software firewall, that handles traffic at the same time it's about to migrate the virtual machine to another ESXI.

    The results showed that when utilizing the 1000 Mbit/s link to the max, the transfer speed of the Iperf client is lowered to make room for vMotion traffic. You can see depending on the bandwidth that it is affecting the migration times. The migration is going through but the time it takes is longer.

    Abstract [en]

    This study aims to understand the factors that turn Instagram users into influencers by analyzing data from various influencers, focusing on aspects that attract young people. The findings will be applied to the "Life of A.R.T'' project, which aims to create an artificial influencer to inspire youth interest in technology. This research examines six Instagram influencer profiles with similar follower demographics, using Art-Scraper and Instascrape to collect data on Upload Date, Likes, Comments, Hashtags, and Tagged Users. The results indicate that influencers rarely use hashtags, and when they do, it has minimal impact on likes. Instead, tagging generates more engagement. Posts are primarily uploaded on Sundays and Thursdays, typically between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. This analysis will inform the development of an AI-based influencer's behavior.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this thesis was to compare the two Cisco firewalls ASA 5506-X and 5510 performances during two different DDoS attacks with out of the box settings. The thesis was done in a Cisco controlled environment at University West.

    Botnets were created with the computers in this environment to carry out TCP and UDP flood attacks on both ASA devices and see which one would perform best under these circumstances. A total of eight figures are used to show the results of the tests, each containing averages compiled from ten measurements for each parameter.

    ASA 5506-X has one core for the ASA itself with three additional cores using the Fire-power module, this however is not used out of the box for the ASA 5506-X, leaving it with as a single-core device. ASA 5510 does not have a Firepower module and runs a single-core. The single-core of the ASA 5506-X is not as fast as the ASA 5510 single-core.The results of this showed that the ASA 5510 outperformed the ASA 5506-X in all categories.

    I samband med industri 4.0 ställs högre krav av kunden på industrier, detta eftersom det blir vanligare med skräddarsydda produkter. Detta medför att industrin behöver ställa om och vara mer flexibla och effektiva, samtidigt som deras mål är att hålla nere omställningstiden och kostnaderna. Lösningen på utmaningen har visat sig vara att industrin tenderar att investera i ny och innovativ teknik, där Augmented Reality (AR)-lösningar har blivit ett vanligt alternativ, då de i fallet av Head Mounted Device (HMD) ökar mobiliteten och är ett effektivt sätt att uppnå de krav som ställs. Trots att studier visar att det fortfarande finns begränsningar med tekniken, till exempel hårdvarubegränsningar och Human Computer Interaction (HCI), så finns stor potential i framtida system. Ett område inom vilket det forskas flitigt gällande HCI och AR är inmatningsmetoder, alltså de verktyg som användaren har för att styra ett givet system. Trots detta fanns knapphändig forskning som jämförde flera metoder med varandra för att undersöka om det fanns någon metod som presterade bättre än de andra. Denna lucka i forskningen ledde till detta projekt i vilket flera metoder användes för att med hjälp av 12 deltagare kunna utvärdera effektiviteten av olika inmatningsmetoder. Metoderna som analyserades i denna studie är alla del av Microsoft Hololens 2 systemet, en specifik HMD, de tre metoderna är det virtuella systemtangentbordet, skroll och taligenkänning.Ett experimentupplägg togs fram under vilket varje deltagare fick testa tre metoder, virtuellt tangentbord, skroll och taligenkänning, med vilka denne skulle leta upp en fil i en prototypmjukvara. Data samlades in under experimentsessionerna med hjälp av upplevd användbarhets-enkäter och tid, efter experimentsessionen utfördes även en intervju med deltagaren. Med den insamlade datan utfördes senare en statistisk analys med hjälp av flera statistiska metoder och modeller som Shapiro-Wilks-test, Tukey-HSD-test, chi-två-test samt grafiska analysmetoder, resultaten av de statistiska analyserna tydde på att majoriteten av resultaten saknade statistisk signifikans.Trots att det saknades statistisk signifikans mellan skillnaderna skapade en av frågorna under intervjun ett tydligt resultat, inmatningsmetoderna i AR behöver bli bättre för att ARlösningar ska få större spridning i industriella miljöer. Detta resultat stöds även av slutsatser av flera rapporter som används i detta arbete
