Risks associated with the use of mobile phones while driving : A qualitative research study on how young people consider risk taking (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study highlights what some young drivers stated to be risks with the use of mobile phones while driving. The study is performed using a qualitative method. Six informants (three girls and three boys) aged 20-25 years were interviewed with semi-structured interviews. To analyze the data, thematic analysis were used. The result out of this study showed that a greater proportion of the respondents felt that the use of mobile phones while driving was something that was distracting and the focus was not only on the actual driving. It was also shown that all the respondents use mobile phone while driving a car with the intention that it is a large part of their daily lives and it is something they depend on. The informants believe that the use of mobile phones while driving is distracting but that society is so built around technology that it is a problem not to be connected constantly.
