Abstract [en]

This thesis aims to describe and analyze the ideology of the Swedish Christian Democratic Party and finding eventual ideological change in family policy. Choosing three party manifestos as the base of the thesis from 1964, 1993 and 2012. Based upon the ontology of social constructivism, theories of party ideology and theories of Conservatism and Liberalism an ideological analysis is conducted to be able to find eventual ideological change in family policy. The use of the analytical framework that includes characteristics from the two ideal-types of Conservative and Liberal is used when conducting the analysis. The analysis shows that the Swedish Christian Democratic Party has changed their party ideology in family policy from only representing of the Conservative ideal-type toward representing both the ideal-type of the Conservative and the Liberal.
