Abstract [sv]

Syftet med studien har varit att undersöka hur behandlingspersonalen upplever den terapeutiska relationens betydelse av tillit och samarbete mellan dem och ungdomarna på ett särskilt ungdomshem. De frågeställningar som studien redogör för är följande:

  •  Hur skapar behandlingspersonalen en terapeutisk relation till ungdomar på det särskilda ungdomshemmet?
  •  Vad har den terapeutiska relationen för innebörd mellan behandlingspersonalen och ungdomarna på det särskilda ungdomshemmet?

Vår studie har utgått från en kvalitativ ansats där vi har utfört sex stycken halvstrukturerade livsvärldsintervjuer med behandlingspersonal på en SiS-institution i västra Sverige. Uppsatsen grundar sig på John Bowlbys anknytningsteori. För att förstå empirin har vi analyserat materialet med hjälp av anknytningsteorin samt Trondmans begrepp relationskapital och det asymmetriska ansvarets logik.

Forskningen påvisar vikten av den terapeutiska relationens betydelse i behandlingsarbete. Respondenterna upplever relationskapandet som den viktigaste aspekten i behandlingsarbetet med ungdomarna. De ungdomar som befinner sig på behandlingshemmet har komplexa anknytningsmönster med vuxna. För att återskapa bärande relationer måste behandlingspersonalen sätta ungdomens behov i centrum och överta vuxenansvaret. Empirin visar att behandlingspersonalen har en viktig roll som kontaktpersoner då de kan vara den första trygga anknytningen i ungdomens liv.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study has been to investigate how working professionals experience the therapeutic relation, the meaning of trust and the cooperation between them and the adolescents at a SiS-institution. The questions that the study is concentrated on are the following:

  •  How does the professionals create a therapeutic relation to the adolescents at the SiS-institution?
  •  To what extent is the therapeutic relation meaningful between the professionals and the adolescents at the SiS-institution?

In our study we used a qualitative approach with semi structured interviews performed with six of the staff members working at one SiS-institution located in western Sweden. The essay is based on John Bowlby’s attachment theory and Trondman’s concept relational capital and the asymmetric responsibility logic.

Research shows the importance of the therapeutic relations in working with treatment at a SiS-institution. The respondents in the interviews sees creating relations with the adolescents as the most important aspect of their work with them. The adolescents that are staying at the SiS-institution have complex attachment patterns to adults. To re-create bearing relations the professionals have to put the adolescent’s needs in focus and assume adult responsibility. Empirics shows that the professionals have an important role to accept as contact person since they could be the first trustworthy connection in one adolescent’s life.
