In the mind of a recruiter : A qualitative study of the recruitment process' critical aspects (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Recruitment has become a serious issue for all employers. It is expensive to recruit the wrong person, and therefore there are high demands on the recruiter to employ the right person. Through this qualitative study we want to gain knowledge about the recruitment process' critical aspects and what the recruitment processes look like and how recruiters perceive them. The study took a qualitative approach and was designed with semi-structured interviews. Our sample consisted of ten individuals with recruitment responsibilities in different areas. The results of the study were analysed through an analytical thematic analysis, where we got four main themes: objective view, the process in many steps, subjective view and mismatch. An unexpected result was that the majority of recruiters went on gut instinct. The study sheds new light on how most recruiters proceed when recruiting, and contributes to greater understanding of the recruitment process. The study also contributes to knowledge of the recruiter's work.
