Abstract [sv]

Sverige har på senare år drabbats av flera stormar som resulterat i stora skador på elnätet med långa avbrottstider som följd. Detta har bidragit till att det ställs hårdare krav på nätägare från myndigheter gällande avbrottstider. Examensarbetet undersöker reservmatning av långa radiella nät via reservkraftverk där det saknas reservmatningsmöjligheter från närliggande nät.

I rapporten undersöks två radiella nät ur ett elektrisk och ekonomisk perspektiv. Det utförs beräkningar för att undersöka hur reservmatning via reservkraftverk påverkar nätets elkvalité, samt nätets skyddsfunktioner. Det utförs också ekonomiska jämförelser mellan reservkraftverken och nybyggnationer av elnätet för att möjliggöra reservmatning via närliggande nät.

De framtagna resultaten visar att reservmatning via reservkraftverk uppfyller de krav som ställs på elkvalité och skyddsfunktioner i näten samt att reservmatning via reservkraftverk är det ekonomiskt fördelaktiga alternativet. En begränsande faktor har varit den reaktiva genereringen från kabelnät vid låga laster som påverkar generatorns driftområde. Som åtgärd har shuntreaktorer föreslagits för kompensering av den reaktiva genereringen.

Abstract [en]

Sweden has in recent years encountered several storms that resulted in major damage to the power grids with long interruption time as a consequence. That is the reason why today the government agencies are more strict towards network owners when it comes to power failure periods. The thesis investigates the reserve supply of long radial distribution grid via back-up power generator where there is no extra power supply available from nearby electrical distribution grids.

The report examines two radial power grids from electrical and economic perspective. The calculations are performed to investigate the way that the back-up power generator affects the quality of the generated electricity and the distribution grids safety function. Economical comparisons between back-up power plants and new construction of power grids are examined with the objective to supply nearby distribution grids with electrical power.

The results show not only that the reserve supply via the back-up generator plant meets the requirements for power quality and protection functions in the distribution grids, but it is also economically profitable. A limiting factor has been the reactive generation from cable distribution grids at low current intensities that affects the range of the operating alternator. As a measure towards this, shunt reactor coils have been proposed to compensate for the reactive power.
