Abstract [en]
Background: Parents most often want to feel involved in the care of their hospitalized children. Health professionals believe that parents should be included and allowed to participate in care for their own child. How do parents experi-ence personal treatment and attitude from nurses and other healthcare pro-fessionals in association when their child is requiring healthcare? There is a need for greater knowledge and insight into how parents perceive rela-tions in different care situations, in order to understand what is required to respond to their personal needs.
Aim: To describe parents and relatives to unwell children experiences of
a treatment within the healthcare settings Method: A literature review, content analysis based on five studies. Results: Previous experience of affectionate care influenced the perception of
a caring situation, to meet the families' needs increased confidence, a good continuity in the care circuit increased confidence, experiences of commu-nication under the care situation, experiences of involvement in care
Conclusion: Parents in this study constantly recur to the importance of good communi-cation, information, sincerity and dialogue. It lies on the nurse's responsi-bility to ensure that parents and caregivers recognize the importance of their presence and that they also take place.
