Abstract [sv]

The thesis explored into the effects of tourism on garbage generation and management practices in Nepal's mountainous regions. The key issue addressed was the huge rise in garbage caused by an increased number of tourists, as well as the problems of managing this material in isolated places. The study's goal was to assess current waste management techniques and make recommendations to reduce tourism's environmental impact. The study used a mixed-methods approach, involving qualitative interviews with stakeholders and quantitative analysis of waste management data. The study was guided by theoretical frameworks on internationalization, tourism's environmental impact, and trash management. While tourism considerably benefits local economies, empirical data show that it also contributes to waste management concerns, resulting in environmental degradation. The study highlighted the importance of better waste management procedures, tougher government rules, and increased community involvement. The study indicated that sustainable tourism practices and better waste management tactics arecritical to protecting the natural ecosystem in Nepal's mountainous areas
