Abstract [en]

As an organization expands its operations beyond national border levels, it will receive the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures and environments and learn from each other. This exposure will lead to learning and identifying new facts through the exchange of experiences, ideas, and knowledge between the participants. So, the process of internationalization provides a rich environment for organizational learning. When an organization engages in international activities, partnerships, or collaborations, the knowledge produced through international experiences can be used to uplift the organizational knowledge system. Further, the new knowledge created can be integrated into the organization’s knowledge system when performing tasks. This case study was conducted in the education sector in Lidköping municipality through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documents. Participants who engaged in international activities were selected using snowball sampling. The thematic analysis of data reveals that the employees at the workplace learn through international experiences; they share their knowledge within the organization and integrate new knowledge into their working environment. Further, the study shows that international collaborations may lead to success in decision-making processes and collaboration benefits in solving sustainability issues.
