Abstract [en]

This master's thesis offers a comprehensive analysis of the urban mobility problems in Bangkok and presents detailed solutions for improvement. Due to the directly impact on the quality of life of the citizens and the environmental impact, the investigation of this topic is highly relevant. The overall purpose of this research is to gain a broad understanding of the mobility challenges and to develop concrete recommendations that can lead to a sustainable improvement of mobility through the introduction of Mobility as a Service (MaaS). Based on an analysis of the mobility behavior of Bangkok residents and an examination of existing transport systems, the study intends to identify opportunities for the introduction of MaaS.

A comprehensive literature review was conducted to assess the current state of knowledge on urban mobility and MaaS. A survey of Bangkok residents was also conducted to understand their mobility behavior and determine their willingness to use MaaS. The developed roadmap presents concrete recommendations and measures designed to make mobility more sustainable and efficient. Through a detailed SWOT analysis, strategic steps are outlined to offer companies and stakeholders in the mobility sector targeted options for action to enable long-term success. The results of the study demonstrate that Bangkok has significant transportation problems that negatively impact the quality of life. An integrated MaaS app has the potential to improve mobility by seamlessly integrating various transportation services and providing users a convenient way of traveling in the future. An important success factor is respondents' openness towards MaaS, given that public transportation is further extended and easily accessible around the city. The conclusion emphasizes the need for a holistic strat-egy to overcome the mobility challenges in Bangkok. Overall, the findings provide a basis for urban planners, transportation experts and other stakeholders to develop and implement specific actions to improve mobility. Moreover, it contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexity of urban mobility and sets the foundation for future research and measures to enhance mobility in urban areas in order to successfully drive the implementation of MaaS and other innovative mobility solutions.
