Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund:

Studenternas situation förändrades under COVID-19 pandemin. Det fysiska mötet blev begränsat och studierna fick bedrivas genom distansundervisning vilket gjorde att studenterna blev hemmasittande. Den psykiska hälsan hos studenterna var generellt sämre i förhållande till resterande befolkning redan innan pandemin.

Syfte:

Syftet var att beskriva studenters situation och dess konsekvenser på den psykiska hälsan som följd av distansundervisning under COVID-19 pandemin.Metoden: Examensarbetet genomfördes som en litteraturstudie med både kvalitativa och kvantitativa studier. Samtliga artiklar som använts i resultatet har kvalitetsgranskats och analyserats enligt Aveyards tematiska analysmodell.

Resultat:

Studenternas psykiska mående blev sämre under COVID-19 pandemin som ett resultat av deras sociala isolering. Studenterna påverkades akademiskt och i sin dagliga vardag. Studenterna fick svårare att koncentrera sig och vanligt förekommande psykiska problem var ensamhet, nedstämdhet, ångest och stress.

Slutsatsen:

Den psykiska hälsan försämrades då studenterna kände sig isolerade och överväldigade som en följd av distansstudier under COVID-19

Abstract [en]

Background:

The students' situation changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the physical restrictions the student's education was conducted via distance learning which rendered the students stuck at home. The mental health of the student body was generally lower in contrast to the rest of the population before the pandemic.

Aim:

The aim of the study was to describe the student's situation and its consequences on mental health due to distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.Method: A literary study was applied using both qualitative and quantitative data. All articles used in the result were reviewed for quality and analyzed in accordance with Aveyards analysis model.

Result:

the authors describe the decay of mental health in students during the COVID-19 pandemic due to their social isolation. This affected the students in their daily lives and in their academic performances. The student's ability to concentrate got worse and common mental health issues were loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress.

Conclusion:

The mental health deteriorated due to the students feeling isolated and overwhelmed as a consequence of distance learning during COVID-19.
