Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to examine the social integration of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia and the procedures the organization Tenenet takes to facilitate them. The research targets analyzing content and interviews from Tenenet. The study seeks to study the nongovernmental organization (NGO) Tenenet in Slovakia. The data is collected through one semi-structured elite interview including two respondents: the CEO of Tenenet Elena Kopcová and The Mental Health Program Director Martin Mňahončák, who is responsible for activities regarding Ukrainian refugees. The content analysis consists of information on Tenenet’s website, flyers, and an annual report of 2022, as well as the elite interview. This paper serves as a platform reflecting procedures Tenenet has taken to facilitate humanitarian and psycho-social aid of refugees. The nature of Slovak society suggests difficult integration of foreigners, yet being neighboring countries with similar culture contrasts the society's image. A theoretical framework is included to identify key concepts related to the theory and study.
