Arbetsmotivation är en viktig grundsten i en välfungerande organisation och tidigare forskning har gett stöd för att personlighet kan predicera just arbetsmotivation. Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka sambandet mellan Dark Triad, samvetsgrannhet och tre olika motivationsfaktorer i arbetslivet vilka är lön, makt och uppmärksamhet genom en kvantitativ enkätundersökning (N=217). Dark Triad dimensionerna mättes med Short Dark Triad (SD3), samvetsgrannhet med sex påståenden ur IPIP-NEO-30 och motivationsfaktorerna med ett egenkonstruerat instrument. Av de 217 respondenter som deltog var 76% kvinnor och 24% män. Resultaten redovisades genom korrelationsanalys mellan samtliga variabler följt av tre multipla regressionsanalyser. Resultaten visar ett signifikant positivt samband mellan Machiavellianism och motivationsfaktorn lön samt mellan Narcissism och motivationsfaktorerna makt och uppmärksamhet. Personlighetsdraget samvetsgrannhet visade inga statistiskt signifikanta samband med någon av de tre motivationsfaktorerna. Övriga resultat och studiens begränsningar avhandlas. 

Abstract [en]

Workmotivation is an important foundation stone in a well functioning organization and previous research has provided support that personality can predict workmotivation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the Dark Triad, conscientiousness and three different motivational factors in working life which are salary, power and attention through a quantitative survey (N=217). The Dark Triad dimensions were measured with the Short Dark Triad (SD3), conscientiousness with six statements from the IPIP-NEO-30 and the motivational factors with a self-constructed instrument. Of the 217 respondents who participated, 76% were women and 24% were men. The results were reported through correlation analysis between all variables followed by three multiple regression analyses. The results show a significant positive relationship between Machiavellianism and the motivational factor salary and between Narcissism and the motivational factors power and attention. The personality trait conscientiousness showed no significant association with any of the three motivational factors. Other results and limitations of the study are discussed.
