Denna studie syftar till att identifiera och utveckla generella designprinciper för digitala portfolios genom användning av metoden Action Design Research. Studiens empiriska kontext utgörs av läkares specialiseringstjänstgöring inom NU-sjukvården i Västra Götalandsregionen. Studien inleds med en översikt av tidigare forskning om kompetenshanteringssystem och digitala portfolios och fortsätter sedan med en kvalitativ förstudie för att kartlägga problemområdet. Utifrån förstudien föreslås sju tentativa designprinciper som sedan används för att designa en prototyp för en digital ST-portfolio. Prototypen användas sedan för användartestning i syfte att vidareutveckla och verifiera de föreslagna designprinciperna. Utvärdering av prototypen hinner endast genomförs delvis vilket leder till att designprinciperna fortfarande är att betrakta som tentativa. 

This study aims to identify and develop general design principles for competence management using the Action Design Research method. The empirical context of the study consists of specialist medical training within the NU-healthcare in the Västra Götaland region. The study begins with an overview of previous research on competence management systems and digital portfolios, followed by a qualitative preliminary study to map the problem area. Based on the preliminary study, we propose six tentative design principles that we then use to develop a visual prototype for a digital specialist medical training portfolio. The prototype is intended for user testing to further develop and verify the proposed design principles. Evaluation of the prototype is partially conducted.
