A study of innovation in work-integrated learning (WIL) at an academic institution (English)
Abstract [en]

This study examines the different descriptions of WIL (Work Integrated Learning) that exist within University West and how they can be understood. The concept of WIL within University West appears to be multifaceted and AIL has various meanings within the university. 

The study is based on an empirical material, which consists of various strategic documents and decision documents that have been of significant importance for the development of WIL at University West. Furthermore, a theoretical framework is used to analyze the empirical material, and the framework is based on studies of research fields, investigations of various theoretical concepts, that relate to WIL as a concept. Different descriptions of WIL are inductively analyzed from through a content analysis. 

The result of the analysis accounts for a variety of descriptions of WIL within University West and WIL can be understood as: a profile, a complete academic environment, a view of knowledge, an area of knowledge, a pedagogical approach, an area of examination, a subject, and an area of research.

As a conclusion of the study's results, the need to anchor the subject WIL, at all levels, and ensure that a common image and understanding is created among all concerned at the University West is highlighted, among other things. Likewise, in cooperation with the academic world, to shed light on what the subject is about and what it can mean for the development of society.
