Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Consultant managers have several important relationships in their business, such as the relationship with their customers, the consultants, and their own managers. By having many professional relationships and many tasks at the same time, consultant managers have a lot on their plate. In this study, the purpose will be to discuss the consultant manager’s experiences of difficulties in being able to create relationships with their consultants in connection with the co-leadership they have with their clients. In order to get the answers for this study's purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 consultant managers from the staffing industry. The results are presented as main themes and sub-themes with an associated analysis. Three main themes were identified: Physical presence, communication, and co-leadership. The consultant managers' lack of presence with their consultant was identified. They felt that their lack of presence affected their communication between them. Another theme was co-leadership and the consultant managers felt that the co-leadership had an impact on the relationship between the consultant managers and consultants. Most felt that their lack of time resulted in them not being able to create close relationships with their consultants and in several cases the consultants were more drawn to the clients as they were more present at their workplace.
