Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Skolsköterskor har en bred erfarenhet av att möta elever och har ett stort ansvar, allt från små skador till komplexa frågor som till exempel bedömning gällande skolbarnspsykisk ohälsa. Allt fler barn idag erhåller diagnoser relaterad till psykisk ohälsa och antalet fortsätter att öka men vad som ligger bakom den ökade utvecklingen av den psykiska ohälsanär oklart.

Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva skolsköterskors erfarenheter av att möten med barn i skolåldern med psykisk ohälsa.

Metod: Metoden för den här studien var en integrativ litteraturöversikt. Litteratursökningarna genomfördes i databaserna CINAHL, PsycInfo och PubMed.

Resultat: Resultatet belyste möjligheter och hinder under hälsosamtalet med elever som drabbats av psykisk ohälsa. Möjligheter presenteras den stora betydelse på tillitsfull relation mellan skolsköterskor och skolbarn på hälsosamtalet, skolsköterskors vilja att stödja och möta skolbarn med psykisk ohälsa trotts att hinder som dyker upp i deras roll. Hinder i bemötande var brist på utbildning, utmaningar i samverkan och dålig självkänsla.

Slutsats: Studien visar att skolsköterskor har ett starkt engagemang för att ta hand om barn i skolåldern som drabbas av psykisk ohälsa trots de hinder som kan uppstå. Skolsköterskors hälsofrämjande och förebyggande arbete kräver kontinuerlig utbildning och stöd, samverkan med andra yrkesprofessioner är också viktigt för att få stöd i hur de ska möta skolbarn med psykisk ohälsa.

Abstract [en]

Background: School nurses have a broad experience by meeting students and have a great responsibility, from small injuries to complex issues such as assessment regarding school children's mental health. A high number of children today receive diagnoses related to mental illness and the number continues to increase, but what is behind the increased development of mental illness is unclear. 

Aim: The aim is to describe school nurses' experiences of meeting children of school age who have mental illness.

Method: The method for this study was an integrative literature review. The searches för literature were performed in the databases CINAHL, PsycInfo and PubMed.

Results: Results highlighted opportunities and obstacles during the meeting with students who suffer from mental illness. Opportunities are presented the great importance of trusting relationship between school nurses and school children in the health meeting and school nurses' willingness to support and meet school children with mental illness despite obstacles that arise in their role. Obstacles in the meetings were school nursesdesire for more education, challenges in collaboration and poor self-esteem.

Conclusion:School nurses show a strong commitment to caring for school-age children who suffer from mental illness despite the obstacles that arise. School nurses' health promotion and prevention work requires continuous training and support, collaboration with other professions such as teachers and psychologist are also important to get support in how to deal with school children with mental illness.
