There is today a larger extent of traditional CMS, for example WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal. These are big on the market and are recognised by many but there’s another type of CMS that has taken the market and grown over the last years. This CMS is called Headless CMS. This report refers to a comparative study between these two types of CMS with the implementation of a simpler blog. There’s certain differences between these types of CMS and this report shall with intent answer questions regarding advantages and disadvantages and thus gain a better understanding to in which purpose the CMS:s suits. The results of the report showed that a headless CMS has the ability to get a company to grow in another way because headless CMS have a better condition to scale up projects with integrations and support for multi channels. A separation of the presentation layer and backend will also result in higher safety with only one access point through API:s. The disadvantage of a headless CMS is the implementation of this presentation layer since it doesn’t exist from the start. Our conclusion in this study indicates that with good knowledge and an intent to build a corporate solution to handle the business content, you’re in a good position with headless CMS and thus more ready for productivity, exponential growth and speed. If your only intent is to have a website with an editor-friendly functionality, are not afte ra multi-channel solution and possibly lack of good knowledge in coding, then atraditional CMS like WordPress might be a better option. 

Det finns idag en större utsträckning av traditionella CMS som exempelvis WordPress,Joomla! och Drupal. Dessa är stora på marknaden och igenkända av många men det finns ett annat typ av CMS som tagit marknad och växt de senaste åren, detta CMS kallas headless CMS. Denna rapport avser att göra en komparativ studie mellan dessa två typer av CMS med implementation av en enklare blogg. Det finns vissa skillnader mellan dessa typer av CMS och denna rapport skall med avsikt svara på frågor gällandef ördelar och nackdelar och få en ökad förståelse till vilket syfte CMS:et passar. Rapportens resultat visade att ett headless CMS har friare val och möjligheten att få en verksamhet att växa på ett annat sätt då headless CMS har bättre förutsättning för att skala upp projektet med integrationer och stöd för multikanaler. När det finns en separation med presentationslagret och backenden kommer det också leda till högre säkerhet med bara en accesspunkt genom API:er. Nackdelen som kommer med ett headless CMS är implementationen av detta presentationslager då det inte från början finns. Vår slutsats av denna studie indikerar på att har man goda kodkunskaper och det handlar om att bygga en företagslösning för att hantera företags innehåll är man i en position med ett headless CMS mer redo för produktivitet, exponentiell tillväxt och hastighet. Om man endast är ute efter en webbsida med redaktörvänlig funktionalitet,inte ute efter multikanallösning och möjligtvis inte har mycket goda kunskaper inom kodning. Då kan ett traditionellt CMS som WordPress exempelvis vara ett bättre alternativ.
