This study was conducted to analyze different effects on EU countries' plastic waste which covers the period 2008–2017. The variables used in the study are the number of international tourists entering the country, enrollment in plastic deposit systems, numberof rural population and urban population, GDP per capita, total government expenditure on education and level of education for the population 25+. Unlike previous studies, this study considers the interaction between tourists and the introduction of a plastic depositsystem, as well as how this interaction affects an EU country's plastic waste. In this study we also examined how a choice of residence for citizens affects a country's plastic waste. After presenting the OLS model and the Random Effects model, the results show that the interaction between tourists and enrollment in the plastic return system has an increasing impact on a country's plastic waste. 

Denna studie har genomförts för att analysera effekter på EU-ländernas plastavfall genom paneldata för perioden 2008–2017. Variablerna som används i studien är antaleti nternationella turister som kommer in i landet, inskrivning i plastpantssystem,bosättning på landsbygd eller i stad, BNP per capita, totala statliga utgifter för utbildning och utbildningsnivå för befolkningen 25+. Till skillnad från tidigare studiert ar denna studie hänsyn till samspelet mellan turister och inskrivning avplastpantsystem, samt hur denna interaktion påverkar ett EU-lands plastavfall. I denna studie undersöktes också hur val av bosättning för medborgare påverkar ett lands plastavfall. Efter att ha redovisat OLS-modellen och Random effects modellen, visar resultaten att samspelet mellan turism samt inskrivning i systemet för retur av plast faktiskt har en ökande inverkan på ett lands plastavfall.
