Abstract [sv]

Undersköterskor är den största arbetsgruppen i Sverige och det ett samhällsviktigt yrke. Att arbeta som undersköterska är fysiskt och psykiskt krävande och detta kan påverka motivationen. Syftet med studien är att undersöka motiverande faktorer hos undersköterskor som jobbar på sjukhus. Denna studie bygger på en kvalitativ metod där semi-strukturerade intervjuer med tio undersköterskor på ett sjukhus genomfördes. Ålder på deltagarna varierade mellan 22–53. En tematisk analys användes för att identifiera ett resultat som återspeglar respondenternas svar. Resultatet visade att relationer, psykosocial arbetsmiljö, feedback, utvecklingsmöjligheter och patienternas bekräftelse utgör motivationsfaktorer för undersköterskorna. Resultaten visade även att lönen inte är en lika hög motivationsfaktor som tidigare forsknings visat. Pandemin tycks ha haft en negativ inverkan på den fysiska och psykiska arbetsbelastningen, vilket har resulterat i en minskad motivation hos undersköterskorna. Vår slutsats är att undersköterskor trivs i sina arbetsuppgifter samtidigt somde önskar att ledningen tog mer hänsyn till deras behov och motivation i arbetsplatsen.

Abstract [en]

Assistant nurses are the largest working group in Sweden and a socially important profession. To work as an assistant nurse is physically and mentally demanding and this can affect motivation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the motivational factors in assistant nurses who work in a hospital. This study was based on a qualitative method conducted via a semi-structured interview with ten assistant nurses at a hospital. The age range was between 22–53 years old. Thematic analysis was used to reflect the answers of the respondents. The results showed that relationships, psychosocial work, environment, feedback, development opportunities and the patient's confirmation constitute motivational factors for the assistant nurses. The results showed that salary was not as high a factor as previous research has shown. Also, the pandemic has had a negative impact on the physical and mental workload, which has been affected by a reduced motivation among the assistant nurses. We conclude that assistant nurses thrive in their work while at the same time they wish that the management considerstheir needs and motivation in the workplace.
