How does perceived stress, work-related self-efficacy and individual work performance covary? (English)
Abstract [sv]

I studien deltog 72 personer (M=32år, SD=9år).

Abstract [en]

Stress reactions can lead to reduced workers' attention and working memory capacity, which further leads to reduced work performance. An individual's level of self-efficacy has been shown to be related to how the individual chooses to handle stress. Previous research that has been done when it comes to the relationship between work-related stress and individual work performance shows a correlation between the variables. However, the direction of the correlation differs between the researches. Results from previous research have shown that self-efficacy and work performance have a positive correlation. The purpose of the study was to investigate how perceived stress and self-efficacy covariate with the individual work performance and to investigate the relationship between the variables. To answer the study's questions, a quantitative survey was conducted where data collection was conducted via a web-based survey. Three different measuring instruments were used to measure individuals' work performance (IWPQ), perceived stress (PSS) and level of self-efficacy (OSS-6). The questionnaire used in the study consisted of the three measuring instruments and six background questions. The study involved 72 people (M = 32 years, SD = 9 years). The results showed that self-efficacy and perceived stress have a significant correlation with all dimensions within work performance. Perceived stress is a significant predictor of task-based performance, self-efficacy is a significant predictor of contextual performance while counterproductive work behavior had no significant predictor.
