Abstract [en]
This paper analyzes the effect of Covid-19 on the Scandinavian countries: Sweden, Norway and Denmark and their stock market indices. This research is done with a time frame betweenthe beginning of 2016 until the second quarter of 2021. The method used in this paper is the OLS- regression and it is performed on the three different countries. The purpose of the studyis to identify how the different government measures as well as stimulus packages haveaffected the stock market in the different countries and to identify if there are any differences between the countries. The results showed that in Sweden and Denmark, the death cases hada negative effect on the stock market but in Denmark, death cases were not statistically significant. Norway´s death cases did not have an effect on the stock market price index. The conclusion from the study is that a higher number of deaths leads to more effect on the stockmarket. Sweden had a much higher death number, and this gave the most effect on the stockmarket index. This indicates that a country may choose a strategy that reduces the number of death cases in order to have a minimal effect on the stock price index.
