Abstract [en]
The research examine how e-learning platforms can aid teaching and learning among students at the Imo State University in Nigeria. This study will furthermore identify opportunities students derive in using e-learning platforms and the students' challenges surrounding the adoption and use of the e-learning platforms.
The research was based on the qualitative method approach through which data will be accessed and collected. Qualitative research is based upon the ontological assumption that humans socially construct and produce reality. The researcher uses primary data to conduct a semi-structured interview with 10 participants from the Imo State University. Thematic codification was used to analyse the research data into themes, coupled with the theoretical approach for the research study.
In the study, the results revealed that students appreciated the usefulness of e-learning during this pandemic era to be very effective for teaching and learning, especially with the restriction of social gathering. Students accepted the benefits of e-learning platforms to be influential in the period of the covid-19 for education through information technology. Students exposed to information technology and opportunities appreciate the usage of information communication systems. E-learning has also enhanced learning and development as far as information technology is concerned. The common challenge for using information technology generally in Nigeria is the lack of a constant power supply.
The research limitation lacks detailed hypothesis testing, and scientific testing should encourage the established complete findings of the research. Finally, time constraints limit the researcher to apply all the data and information collected to be incorporated into the study, leading to better and comprehensive research outcomes.
The zoom application was very effective and efficient in delivering teaching and learning during the COVID-19 restriction and lockdown. TAM model was used to measure how many students accepted technology usage as perceived usefulness for information technology. E-learning gives significant opportunities for students through teaching and learning accessible to all.
