Vad är egentligen viktigast gällande arbetsmotivation, att anställa rätt individer eller få de anställda att trivas på arbetsplatsen? Arbetsmotivation är en viktig faktor avseende arbetsprestationer och är en högst aktuell fråga för organisationerslönsamhet och tillväxt. Forskningen kring området är omfattande och studieruppmärksammar relevansen av såväl personlighetsfaktorer som arbetstillfredsställelse. Syftet med denna kvantitativa studie var att undersöka relationen mellan arbetsmotivation, arbetstillfredsställelse och personlighet samtbesvara om individens personlighet eller trivsel i arbetet har störst betydelse för motivationen i arbetet. Studiens deltagare bestod av 143 personer i åldrarna 20-66 år med tidigare arbetslivserfarenhet. Undersökningen utfördes genom en webbenkät bestående av frågor från Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ), General Self-efficacy Scale (S-GSE) och IPIP-NEO-60 samt kontrollfrågor. Den samlade datan analyserades i IBM SPSS Statistics 27 genom en reliabilitetsanalys med grund i McDondald’s Omega följt av tre multipla regressionsanalyser och en hierarkisk regressionsanalys. Resultaten visar att både personlighet ocharbetstillfredsställelse påverkar individens arbetsmotivation men att personligheten förklarar störst del av motivationen (44%). 

Abstract [en]

What is most important in terms of work motivation, hiring the right people or making your employees feel satisfied in their workplace? Work motivation is an important factor regarding employees work performance and is a up-to-date topic in organizations concerning work profitability and growth. The research in this area is extensive and studies draw attention to the relevance of both personality factors and job satisfaction. The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate the relationship between work motivation, job satisfaction and personality and to answer whether the individual's personality or well-being at work has the greatest significance for the individual's motivation. The study participants consisted of 143 people aged 20-66 years with previous work experience. The data was conducted through an online survey consisting of questions from the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ), General Self-Efficiency Scale (GSE) and IPIP-NEO-60 andcontrol questions. The collected data was analyzed in IBM SPSS Statistics 27 through a reliability test based on McDondald's Omega and then analyzed through three multiple regression analyzes and a hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that both personality and job satisfaction affect the individual's work motivation, however personality traits account for most of the motivation (44%).
