Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic paralyzed most of the world with its progression and many businesses in Sweden were forced to switch to teleworking, in order to follow the authorities' recommendations and restrictions. In connection with the work moving into the employees' homes, questions arose about how it would affect the employees to work remotely. Our purpose with this study was thus to, gain a deeper understanding of how HR has managed the employees' balance between work and private life with regard to teleworking during the Covid-19 pandemic, based on HR practitioners’ experiences. To find answers to our questions about how telework has affected employees, we chose to interview HR employees who have a certain insight and responsibility for the staff's well-being. The informants are active in various industries and we have had the opportunity to see how they have experienced the telework, both from their perspective, but also how they feel that their employees have handled the change. Through a qualitative study, we have immersed ourselves in teleworking with a focus on balance between work and private life from different theoretical perspectives such as Boundary Theory, Boundary Management and HRM (Human Resource Management). The results showed positive experiences towards the telework, based on the respondents experiences. The survey showed both prerequisites and challenges, in terms of the HR practitioners and the managers responsibility, technical aids, strategy and self-government, based on the respondents statements. Consequently, the results indicate that the work with psychosocial health was perceived as a challenge for the respondents, and that communication has been used as a strategic tool by all the industries in this study.
