Traffic impact of convergence in OSPFv2 and EIGRP (English)
Abstract [sv]

Uppsatsen har utforskat vilka trafikflöden mellan FTP, video och röst som påverkades mest av länkbrott. Mätningar av trafikflöden har utförts med routingprotokollen OSPF och EIGRP. Resultaten har sedan jämförts för att kontrollera vilket routingprotokollen sompåverkade de olika typerna av trafikflöden mest. Resultaten har fokuserat på avbrottstiderna i trafikflöden, förlorade paket vid länkavbrott, samt tiden det tog för applikationerna att återuppta sina trafikflöden efter routingprotokollen hade konvergerat färdigt. Testerna har utförts med tre Cisco routrar, två lager-3 switchar och två Windows 10 datorer. Topologin bestod av fem nätverksenheter för skapandet av tre redundanta vägar från Klient-LAN till Server-LAN. Resultat visade att EIGRP var det bättre protokollet med lägst påverkan på applikationernas trafikflöde. 

Abstract [en]

The thesis has explored what type of traffic flow between FTP, video and voice that was most affected by link failure. Measurements of the traffic flows have been carried out using the routing protocols OSPF and EIGRP. The results have been compared to measure what routing protocol that affected the traffic flows the most. The results focus on break timesin the traffic flows, lost packets due to link failures, and how long it took the applications to reestablish their traffic flows after full convergence in the routing protocols. The tests have been performed using three Cisco routers, two layer-3 switches and two Windows 10 computers. The topology consists of five network devices to create three redundant paths from the client LAN to the server LAN. The results have shown that EIGRP was the better protocol with the lowest impact on the applications.
