SOHO router versus home build router, who can do what and who does it best? (English)
Abstract [sv]

I denna rapport presenteras en byggnation av en router utav en dator med tillhörande jämförelse mellan den byggda routerns funktioner och SOHO-routerns funktioner, samt hur bra de båda routrarna hanterar bandbredd. Vidare presenteras resultat av en kortare jämförelse av VPN-protokollen WireGuard och OpenVPN och hur de presterar i bandbredd genom sina tunnlar. Sedan kommer en analys av resultaten från samtliga mätningar och jämförelser, tätt följd av en diskussion där författarna av denna rapport utvecklar sina tankar om varför resultatet blev som det blev och vad författarna personligen anser om de båda routrarna. 

Abstract [en]

In this report a construction of a router out of a computer is presented, followed by a comparison of its functions versus a SOHO routers functions, as well as how the two routers handle their bandwidth. Furthermore, the results of a shorter comparison of the two VPN protocols WireGuard and OpenVPN and how they perform with bandwidth through their tunnels will be presented. Beyond that an analysis of the results from all the measurements and comparisons is made, followed by a discussion where the writers of this report elaborate their thoughts on why the results became what it is and what their opinions are on the two routers.
