What makes them stay? : A study about social secretaries working conditions (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to investigate what makes some social secretaries remain in their profession. Despite high employee turnovers and strict budget cuts, the social secretaries appear to remain in their field. In order to find out the underlying reasons for this, we posed the question: what makes social secretaries remain in their profession? Furthermore, this research question involves why they want to stay, what enables them to persist and which coping strategies they use to get through the workday. To answer this, we collected information from different participants in six different semi structured interviews, which were then analyzed and interpreted. Our results show that organizational factors have a great impact in determining whether the social secretary remains or not. Factors like collegial support are important for the social secretary and their ability to stay in their line of work, alongside with factors like loyalty towards the organization.
