Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine how first-line managers handle and relate to work-related conflicts between employees and how it affects the wellbeing of the working group. The conflict management styles integrating, obliging, compromising, avoiding and dominating are pervasive in the study. The data collection is based on semi-structured interviews with eight managers in the automotive industry and security companies. The analysis is done through a thematic analysis of the data. The results show phenomena that affect conflicts, conflict management and well-being. Five overall themes were revealed in the analysis. These five general themes are neutrality, communication, experience, motivation and uncertainty. The discussion section mentions that the majority of respondents focused only on the negative with conflicts, but a few also highlighted positive aspects of conflicts.
