Power quality analysis on new plant section in order to determine compliance with standards (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This project has been done on behalf of AFRY for a large manufacturing industry, with the purpose to investigate whether or not a new section of a plant complies with the compatibility levels specified in IEC 61000-2-2 and 61000-2-4. The project also included an investigation of available emission margins for a future expansion of the plant, based upon given planning levels.

A power quality measurement was performed in order to determine compliance with the standards between 2020-04-15, 09:00 to 2020-05-05, 09:44. The instrument was setup on the low voltage switchgear incoming supply, +PR1-WB4+SA1-Q1. The compliance verification based upon the measurement indicated failed compliance for voltage variations, long term flicker and high levels of the 48th harmonic.

An external event was registered on the 18th of April, 2020 at 04:45:48, which was the cause of the failed compliance checks for long term flicker and voltage variations.

Since the switchgear feeds two separate plants, where both have been in operation for periods of time during the measurement period, operation logs for both plants were used to help determine the source of the 48th harmonic, resulting in the conclusion that +PR1-TA2 is the main source of the 48th harmonic.

Since no EMC plan has been available and no planning levels outside of the compatibility levels specified in IEC 61000-2-2 have been identified, arguments to create one has been presented.
