Technologies such as blogs, wikis, and different learning management systems are increasingly being used to support learning and teaching within schools. A wiki is one such tool that provides the opportunity for both teachers and students to work together without geographical barriers. This paper reports from a collaborative teacher community within a cross-border project involving Danish, Norwegian and Swedish teachers, students and researchers. The project was conducted as an action design project and was aimed to promote the students in their Scandinavian inter-comprehension skills using their own native languages when the students are collaborating in different joint projects. The aim of the paper is to analyze the characteristics of the teachers’ use of wikis in order to plan and conduct the collaborative teaching. The wiki gives the opportunity to document agreements within the teacher community and to asynchronously plan the content of the teaching case. However, for the students’ point of view the wiki has not fully supported the communication and collaboration in using their neighboring languages. The students confirm they needed more time to get to know each other and to be more familiar with the neighboring languages. It is true that material on the wiki is easy to reuse. However, the content should be analysed in order to be used in a similar teaching case, as the plans are very detailed fitting this specific teaching case.
