Everyday student influence : a qualitative study on high school students' experience of routines and safety at school (English)
Abstract [sv]

The study is a part of work-integrated learning and the material is a part of the students influence in the school's development work with safety-promoting factors. The results of the study will form the basis for an action plan in the school's safety-promoting work.
The method for data collection is based on qualitative approach with four focus group interviews conducted with high school students in an elementary school in Gothenburg. The transcribed material was analyzed by thematic analysis.
The results are presented under three themes: pronounced routines, unspoken routines and interpersonal relationships at school. The results shows that students feeling lack of meaning in some of the rules in school. Furthermore, the results show that students feel that it is more important to maintain good grades than to develop their learning. During unspoken routines it is presented that students perceive the school as gender segregated in certain segments. The informants in this study experience this by how sports lessons are planned and designed, how the break activities are distributed between the gender and how the social relations between the students are allowed to be designed. During interpersonal relationships, it is emphasized that the informants feel that a relationship at school can affect more fundamental things that has to do with the schooling: safety, motivation and learning.
