Abstract [en]

The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to analyze how the Swedish Media frames the Roma people. Our specific research question is "How are the Roma people framed in the Swedish Media?". In order to answer our research question, we will use an analytical framework we created with the help of our chosen theories which will apply in order to see if there is a positive or negative framing. The theories we selected are framing theory, agenda setting theory and social constructivism. The media we will conduct data from is Dagens Nyheter and Expressen. This thesis is a single case study due to the fact that we investigate a group of people, in our case more clearly a minority and how media frames the group. It is historically known that the Roma people have been discriminated and still are in today's society and it is also known that the media plays a huge role on how they are being framed. The result of this thesis is that Dagens Nyheter and Expressen frame the Roma people more in a negative way than a positive.
